Our 4-day visit to Open Gates B & B in Darien could not be improved upon. The gorgeous old home set among oaks and magnolias screams Southern Beauty. The location is primo…..walking distance to everything we came to enjoy. Darien is a superb location near enough to St. Simon’s and Jekyll but a world apart….in a very good way. Our room was very comfortable with a great mattress and pillows and lovely bedding. Breakfast each morning, prepared by trained chef and property owner Zach, is rated 15 on a scale of 1-10. Zach and Carrie are so very welcoming, making for a relaxing visit.
There is nothing to dislike.

The breakfast prepared by Zach, the owner & chef, was absolutely outstanding. We felt we were in a 5 star restaurant. The crepes, bacon and pastries were delicious, and the presentation was superb. The pride of being the perfect chef and host really shows in Zach’s interactions with their guests. The home is quite beautiful. We love history and lovely architecture and the home satisfied both. We enjoyed the lively conversation in sharing our elegantly appointed breakfast dining table with two other couples. This will be our future Go To place for visiting Savannah.
Our bathroom door wouldn’t close completely because of its age. We are very private individuals and want total privacy in a bathroom. Perhaps a different latch would suffice or a different antique door. The mat in the bathroom has an unraveled edge, which can create a fall if someone were to catch their toes on it. Easy fixes, which would make this stay perfection since everything else was wonderful. The sheets were awesome, having brochures of the area was helpful, and Zach is the quintessential historic Bed and Breakfast owner.

What a beautiful B & B! This renovated house was beautifuly decorated in a scenic setting. It was delightful to sit and relax for a while on the front porch. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever had and the rooms were spotless. The owner, Zach, was so gracious. He personally gave us info about the area attractions, dining, and directions to everything. He is an amazing chef who prepared a gourmet breakfast for us. He also prepared homemade cookies and pastries in the afternoon.

An elegant historic home with lovely and large spaces to share. Rooms were wonderfully appointed with all we needed. Breakfast prepared by chef/owner Zach was amazing and his chocolate chip cookies were an added treat. We want to return for more than one night!
We liked everything! No negatives from us.

The Open Gates bed and breakfast exceeded all my expectations. The breakfast was the best meal I have had on my entire journey so far. The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming

The owners are friendly and very accommodating, even making a special breakfast for my husband and myself. The facilities were very comfortable. There were 2 lights out, one being the light in the bathroom which made for a little challenge in the middle of the night, but I would definitely recommend this inn. It is a great value!

The only thing that would make it would be if I could have stayed longer.

The Welcome. Zack's got it 👍
Location is pretty special. It is as you might expect, a historic old home adapted to a bed and breakfast. The hosts attention to detail commendable. Darien, though small, is convenient to much more congested Sea Island 30 minutes down the road. We will stay again.
The need to tell the rowdy neighbors guests to pipe down. 10 pm is time to wind down.
This however is not a host issue and should not reflect on Open Gates

The owner met us when we arrived and showed us around the house, and gave us recommendations of places to eat and visit. Unfortunately, we got there late and had to leave early. He got up early to make us a wonderful breakfast. We could tell he is passionate about hospitality for his guests. The room was clean and comfortable, in a nice location. There was a fridge for us to store our food, and there is a kitchen if you are planning to cook. We wish we could have stayed longer.
