Idiosyncratic hotel in an 18th century building. The interior decor could be its own antique shop. Very friendly service; almost feels like you're being given a guest room in your aunt's house for the night. The bar and lounge are something you need to see at least once in your life. Could definitely see a Tarantino movie being filmed here.
The rooms seem run-down...the entire place needs a (very expensive?) facelift. Musty-smelling in places, water stains on the ceiling, dusty blinds. Bed was very comfortable, though.

I almost don't know where to start. We arrived at 8pm, and it's worth noting that I informed the hotel in advance we'd arrive late evening. There was no signage indicating where to go after coming inside and someone watching TV in the lobby told me to "go find the owner in the bar". I asked at the bar and was pointed to a staggering, slurring drunk older man who seemed incredibly confused by me asking where to get the room key and proceeded to repeatedly ask what age my daughter was. I should have just left right then and there but against my better instincts I was shown to our room.
On top of the room itself being in horrible condition -mold and cracks in the shower, the doorknob to the room was broken and loose and COULD NOT BE EFFECTIVELY LOCKED, one of the beds was an air mattress on a very dubious looking metal frame, there is no wifi and my cell had barely any signal. But the real cherry on top was that using the heat and the light at the same time caused a fuse to blow. We were told this would be fixed right away, and when we left an hour later it had not been. Heat and light are the absolute minimal expectations of any accomodations that can be classified as "indoors".
We packed back up to leave after an hour and as we left I slipped on the poorly maintained staircase, and then packed the suitcase in my car while the owner and a friend sat at the fire pit drinking and loudly complaining that "they b!tched about having the heater and now they are gonna leave". In the morning we found that they marked us as "no shows" on Booking.com.
From the moment I arrived until the moment we left, we felt unsafe and uncomfortable.

Very nice staff, great hospitality. Cool lounge and nostalgia. Convenient location.
Broken shower mixer valve/handle. Still in working order!

Location only
Holes in roof covered by tarp, musty smell, dusty, buffet pics are a farce. We glanced around and refused to check in. I called Booking.com from my car. I complained to owner in an email- his response was to try ti charge my card.

Can’t beat the location. Right off Rte 28 in the heart of The Catskills. Lots of trails close by. The owner was attentive and looked after every guest. Lots of locals pop into the bar for a lively feel.
Dated so it feels like stepping back in time. After the initial reaction, it was kind of cool to look at all the antiques and collectibles. Could use a little love & attention but probably still bouncing back after covid.

Steve, Heather, and Cassy were very welcoming. It felt like I was staying over for a night at an old friend or family member's place. Heather shared her chips and salsa she got from Tito's when I first got there. Steve cooked a nice breakfast too.
My trip was only two days, so I only stayed one night. I wish I could have stayed longer haha.

Really nice owners, small bar with pool table. Eclectic decor
For the price we paid, the room could have been more comfortable

The location was within easy driving distance of several local ski resorts. Staff were kind and considerate. Its a VERY eclectic environment.
The tile on the bathroom floor was broken and coming up and a piece of board was coming off the wall. The carpets were pretty worn with a nail coming through at one place. The heat was RAGING hot to the point of being uncomfortable. Walls were thin and guests were noisily coming in and out til the wee hours of the morning. Breakfast was by order (only two options) so it wasn't quick, although it was decent.
