It was so quaint. Very secluded. We chose it because it is dog friendly. The staff was really nice and cooked excellent breakfast. The location was great.
We felt misled about the kitchen situation. We had hoped to use it during the stay, but it was specifically for the staff. It also smelled like pot most of the time. The bed was AWFUL and small for two people. The cabin was a single room packed with too much stuff to comfortably use the kennels for our dogs while we were away.

Beautiful location! amazing history. lovely hiking, unique and warm energy. sacred attention to detail. lovely staff, authentic and deeply centered into pacha mama. wonderful conversation and kind people.
i loved it! maybe bathroom checked on daily as multi use by cabins. loved the breakfasts and maybe a little variety as had the same yummy breakfast every day. no complaints at all! variety does add a yum factor. đ

- These cabins ARE historic, making it a unique experience.
- Authentic decor with a lot of cool tchotchkes inside. A lot of creatively used stuff outside too.
- Close to everything, yet removed enough for you to feel like you are completely in nature.
- They make you breakfast and it's good and healthy.
- Can't beat the price.
- The cabins are really really tiny. Like, luggage stays in the car tiny. You can't really expect more for the price and the uniqueness, so just be prepared.
- The road from the car to the cabin can get muddy.
- Lots of insects around the cabin, from months attracted to light (be sure to turn off outside light) to what looked like thread-waisted wasps.
- Shared bathroom was a bit gross.

I love the tiny cabins, fun grounds, and friendly staff. This is my kind of place.

My wife got sick and we had to go home. Staff was not accommodating. Could not get any concession on the rate or get a refund. Room was dirty when we arrived. Bathrooms are not convenient

The breakfast they made was great. The rooms are exactly like in the pictures. They were flexible when I asked if I could switch around the heaters, as I am not that keen on propane heaters in confined spaces.
There was no one for check in, nor did I get any message beforehand on this. I had to call a number I found on the door twice to get someone to tell me to just pick any cabin. At breakfast, I didn't really feel welcomed - they played music that I wasn't particularly keen on as the first thing in the morning, but they didn't seem bothered about my opinion. I guess these are all to do with communication, or the lack thereof - it took away a lot of the charm I was expecting.

The place was beautiful. You can see all the work the owners put into it. The breakfast was amazing and they were very welcoming and friendly to our dog! Will definitely stay again

The breakfast was great! I would give them a 5 star for the breakfast. I just wish there was more too the place. The cabins were okay but no TV, Air Conditioner and only one outlet that was used for the lamp.
We stayed in a cabin due to lack of hotels in town. No TV or Air Conditioning. Lack of bathroom facilities and for the price we paid for the cabin I was disappointed. For someone camping I am sure this would be a great spot. I will say the breakfast was great!

Okay. I messed up and wrote everything great in the wrong box...oops. that was my mistake.
Please, know everything I wrote is very positive, and I truly meant every word.
Collin was very attentive when I first arrived. He introduced himself, and showed me exactly where the tent was, and showed me exactly where to.park the vehicle. He gave me a generator or something like a generator to plug my phone in.. I had a sleeping bag,, and put the mattresses on top of each other. Slept well! The tent area was absolutely beautiful! Mountains all around. The firepit to build a fire was big. It was not too dry to have a fire. The stars in the sky were bright. The river down below was amazing to listen to while being warm with the fire under the "lights" aka stars.
I met AnnaLeigh and Margie the next morning. Breakfast was fabulous!
Collin, AnnaLeigh and Margie are all very kind, and helpful. Would recommend. I will stay again if I am able to get back in the area.
Thank you for being there, and making my adventure memorable. đđâ¤

Location was close to lava hot springs. The setting is cool.
There was nobody around for check in. I reached her on third attempt. The cabin (#1) smelled like smoke. The sheets werenât clean. The propane heat ran out in the middle of the night. The separate bathrooms were freezing cold. There was no hot water. Breakfast was supposed to be at 8am in the office and at 8:05 I called to see where she was and she said they were running late.

Great breakfast. Was expecting pre-wrapped processed bagged meal. Home cooked and family seating was appreciated.

Private access to the Portnief River creates a highly memorable experience unlike any other campsite in Southeastern Idaho. Annaleigh and Collin and Anne and Roy create an atmosphere here which is nothing short of enlightening. If you want a place to stay in Lava Hot Springs that makes you feel like your "home," and a REAL outdoor experience---as the natural environment coexists with well-built cabins, tent cabins, and camping sites---which amazingly connects nature with comfort and rusticity.
