A lovely place in the beautiful old town of Peniscola. We loved everything about the Pensioner Chiki. The room was exceptionally clean and nicely furnished, with a small balcony to sit out on. Air conditioning unit was very efficient and quiet, at keeping the room lovely and cool when needed. Staff and owner were all very kind, friendly and attentive. Bathroom very clean and nicely decorated with colourful tiles, shower was excellent. Location is wonderful in the old town, yet very close to the beaches and newer part of town. The old town is amazing, the narrow lanes filled with small shops and restaurants which come alive in the evenings. Chiki is located just below the castle. Owners restaurant on the ground floor, where a leisurely breakfast could be bought each morning whilst watching the town wake up. A perfect small hotel in a stunning location, we loved everything about it. Peniscola is lovely too and hopefully we will return again one day.
Chiki was perfect.

This is not a traditional chain-style hotel, it's a quaint Spanish gem located right as you enter the old city gates. The hosts are exceptionally nice and the rooms are spotlessly clean.
Be aware that this is not a place where you can easily park your car or drop your bags at the door. There is parking available down the hill but you'll be best served by walking into the old city.

The location was perfect; Close walking distance to the town, down near the beach promenade & 2 minutes to the amazing 1294AD Night Templar’s castle tour for only 5€. The narrow cobbled streets that weave around, showing the quaint Spanish wrought iron balconies and so many shops and restaurants! You have to try the Gganbu restaurant (only open Fri-Sat-Sun)
Hotel Chiki has a restaurant too, with tasty traditional dishes. Great husband & wife hosts!
The bed was a bit smaller than expected. 3 levels and narrow stairway. No elevator. Not fit for handicapped.

The view from the apartment was beautiful and we had a lovely dinner at the hotel restaurant.
We had to carry our luggage from the beach level municipal parking to the hotel near the top of the old Town. To top it off there was no elevator to our third floor room.

Fantastic location. Traditional style Spanish hotel. Spotless and comfortable. Sonia is very professional and a friendly host. I arrived later than expected but it was not a problem. Hugely recommended. 10/10.

A fabulous, independent, ‘one of a kind’ property located in the heart of the old town of Peñíscola. Ran by a wonderful gent who is a pleasure to deal with - as are all staff members. You can see how much hard work goes into running this property and the restaurant & bar which are beneath it. Quirky rooms which are immaculately clean. Would recommend to stay 100% to anyone who visits the area.
Nothing - it was exceptional!

Excellent views from the rooms up high in the castle.
Difficult to locate, instructions should be more clear that the rooms are located above the restaurant (Restaurant Chiki) and you need to go inside the castle. We were driving so had to find a way inside the gates so that we could drop off our luggage and then come out again as there is no parking inside the castle. Luckily the local police were able to help us out.

Beautiful location, great service. Friendly family-run establishment.
A bit too noisy and touristy in high season for our family. We would have liked more information about the location and parking upfront when booking via booking.com.

Nice, cosy rooms with view to the see, good restaurant on the ground floor.
The location is perfect, both for walking around the downtown and for the beach (5 min).
Room was quite small, only the minimal equipment was available (no hair dryer, no water kettle nor coffee machine).

I had a single room and it had all the basic essentials and was charming, overlooking the church. I almost never heard other guests in the building, and street noise/church bells weren't bothersome to me. The location is great for exploring the old town and it was easy to find. The owners were very friendly and you'll be fine even if there's a language barrier. The restaurant closed early on my first night, and they were booked up for lunch, so I wasn't able to eat there during my brief stay. I was there during Easter week and there was a procession one evening, which was pretty cool.
I was working during my trip and there's no desk/table, but I knew that before I booked. It's not immediately clear that there's a bus that runs between the train station and town; check the schedules and take the bus. It's much cheaper than a taxi and takes only a little longer.

Our room was spotless, the mattress was very comfortable and the view was stupendous. In the heart of the old town you are surrounded by bars and restaurants and in the evenings, especially, the atmosphere is quite magical. The church bell opposite tolls during the day but doesn't start until 8am. The family who own the hotel couldn't Have been kinder and we enjoyed the fixed price lunch. We had a small but cute balcony and really enjoyed our stay.
Nothing - our stay was perfect.

I really liked everything here! The room was really nice, clean, decorated with small details to make you feel good and with a comfortable bed. It had a small balcony with amazing views over the city. The familly that owns the place super super friendly - definitively to return and to recommend.

The host even let me put my expensive e-bike in his own home. Wonderful experience in a charming hotel. Would come again for sure

Very clean, good sized bed for a single. Small room well laid out, nice little balcony with great views
The town can be noisy, nothing to do with the hotel. Literally just in front of the church but don't worry those bells don't ring through the night!🔔
