Very comfortable with a great location.

Nice place. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean! Shower heated up quickly. The place definitely has a lot of character.

the only issues were that the bathroom sink was almost clogged, it took a little finagling to get the a/c to work and the tv is pretty small.

Clean rooms, comfortable beds - good for a night

Grand building. Clean. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Beautiful old building, which means few electrical outlet in room for plugging electronics. Included breakfast consisted of wrapped bagels, packaged pastries, yogurt, apples, oranges, bananas and fresh coffee - not exactly appetizing. The dining room is too small. The hotel in on a main shopping street. We stayed one night, a Monday night. Only 2 restaurants open on Mondays and both had long wait times.

I stay at The Gin anytime I travel through Virginia

Historical building in heart of Lexington. You can walk to shops, restaurants and Universities. Great view of the town, mountains from my room

Relaxing and fun trip

Location was great, Walked everywhere. Room was cozy. Staff was helpful and worked with our travel plans.

We have stayed here twice in visits to the local colleges for our son. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful room, fabulous views. I've stayed at the Gin before, and I knew the stay would be superior.

The breakfast is the weakest element to the overall experience. Just bagels, toast, cereal. A hot breakfast would put this property over the moon.

Stylish and well located stay.

A great locations and well refurbished stylish hotel. The bar balcony is a great place for a drink before heading to one of many restaurants in town.

The breakfast is not of the standard I’d expect for a hotel charging this rate. basically a counter of mass-produced packets, no fresh items.

no Breakfast-the advertising should say Continental Breakfast-when saying “breakfast included “ the Front desk staff indicated upon leaving that the restaurant was closed for Christmas break for staff!! There should be something said to let your Clients know the reason no restaurant nor bar available!!

Beautiful, historical hotel with limited amenities.

Historic hotel in beautiful downtown Lexington, VA

The mattress was not very comfortable and the room got too warm for good sleep. The breakfast was free but in a tiny space with not much selection.

wife & I agreed best 1-night stay ever compared to price = amazing value

historic/nostalgic feel, comfortable room w/great view, incredible/central location - walked to a sporting event at Washington & Lee followed by dinner after & shopping the next day

Pleasant property, not recommended for families with children.

convenience to downtown shops and nearby universities. I liked the historical vibe to the building. I’m sure a lot of famous people have been guest at this hotel over the years.

The shower stall design is flawed. The open concept shower stall makes it impossible to keep water from making its way to the bathroom floor. There are no vending machines in the hotel, refrigerators or microwave ovens in rooms. I assume the current electrical system limitations prohibits having such items in the hotel. For the amount paid for a room, such amenities are taken for granted that they will be there. Read carefully about this property before you book and you won’t be disappointed.

I would stay again.

loved location. was in walking distance to all we had planned. room was small but clean.

There were not many guest staying. Did not sleep because of the noise next door. Could have spread out guest in available rooms.

Great location and value.

I gave very high rating in part because of the low price of a room compared to other hotels with intown walkable locations. The historic building has thoughtfully renovated rooms with very good bathrooms. Breakfast is modest but expected given the low room price. Besides, I prefer to breakfast at one the excellent bakery coffee shops in town.

Disappointing

I like the location.

The room looked run down and out of date. Additionally, the room HVAC system wasn’t working and there was a space heater in the room. Furthermore, the room had a musty smell to it.

Enjoyed my stay.

Room was older, but well maintained.

More outlets -especially near the bed. I have a CPAP. Fortunately, staff was able to provide an extension cord. Thank you.

Great Stopover

Really nice stopover in a beautiful little town. Don’t leave without taking time to walk around the downtown area and the two college campuses, Washington & Lee and VMI.
