It’s a very cool set up, looks like a great place to spend some time. I kinda of froze all night though.
Not the places fault but one of our bunk mates was REALY nasty about me having my toddler. He was driving a plastic car not making noise. She said she would get up early and be extra noisy and she totally was. Upsetting the other bunk mate who don’t seem to my little guy at all. This over lady caused me a lot of stress. So maybe tell people there might me kids in the dorm.
Heaters weren’t warm enough.

Emily(?) who was working the front desk was really nice and helpful, really made my stay much easier!

Loved Sven's basecamp, nice and chilled with friendly staff and a good coffee shop.
Sven is a really interesting guy and is super helpful and friendly.
It's a little out of the way if you don't have a vehicle but it's easy to get an uber.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay again .

The staff were so friendly and accommodating and the proximity to the airport and the big box stores was too.
The toilets were always very clean but there were only three of them, and one of the three had apparently been out of order for some time. These toilets are used by both staff and guests, and when the hostel is at full capacity that means 40 people are trying to use these toilets! ONLY TWO TOILETS IS WOEFULLY INADEQUATE FOR THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WAITING TO USE THEM!!!!

The staff was exceptional. All of them were extremely pleasant and accommodating.
There are only three bathrooms, one of which has apparently been out of service for quite a while. That left only TWO toilets for both staff and guests to use. When the hostel is completely full that means that 40 people are expected to share these two toilets. THAT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!

It was just like camping and I loved it. Grandson was with us and he is 6 years old and he loved it also, needs to be a little more kid friendly though. Have things for kids to do with family.
Nothing, everything was great!!

The price, location (using a car of course), the maintenance of the common areas, the greenery and rustic feeling of the " base camp"
The "coin-operated" shower ( Sven should have just collected extra for the regular use of the shower), the lack of lighting in the property - making it a "walk in the dark" in the evening as you navigate from your cabin/tent to the common toilet/bathroom, lack of choices for even a simple breakfast , the most impt meal of the day, problems with electricity ( our cabin had power outage as we arrived one late evening and the temperature was close to freezing- good thing we brought our own Kashmir wool blankets and camping lights/headlights). Also, try to choose a cabin near the toilet/bathroom areas, bec if you habitually go 2 or more times a night in the toilet to pee, then you would imagine the hurdle of walking out in the dead of the night, in subfreezing temperatures, and in the dark. Your pee may not come out at all!

The kitchen was well equiped. comfortable bed with gas heater. Kitchen and Bathrooms were near the rooms
Need to put money to get your shower water. charge a quarter (25cents) for 30 sec of water flow

This is a great option for backpackers taking a break, or people arriving in Fairbanks waiting for a tour to start the next day. The bare-bones facilities support tent camping, shared spaces, and private cabins. Everything is clean and in good repair. The kitchen facilities are more than adequate for simple meals and food storage (including cold storage). Once you get the tour from the staff, you're left on your own, which I like, and you are not cheek-to-jowl with other travelers. Two major grocery stores are a 10 minute walk away.
If you don't have a car, realize that you are not close to anything. I don't mind walking, and there are sidewalks, but if that's not your thing you might want something closer to conveniences.

We loved the location. Easy walk to shopping, restaurants, buses and Pioneer Park. The atmosphere was relaxed, chilled and serene. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. It was the personalized welcoming details that stood out. We truly loved and enjoyed our time here.

Quiet location
You had to pay for water to take a shower because there was no well at the property. I traveled throughout Alaska and this was the only location that charged for water use. What was most frustrating was that this location was in the middle of Fairbanks, with the appearance of having accessibility to city water. On top of that the price for the tent cabin was astronomical compared to other areas we traveled to, even Seward during the Marathon July 4th weekend. So, to be charged additionally for water was frustrating at a minimum. Finally, the tent had a very active hornet's nest directly above the tent door and when I reported it I had the impression that nothing was going to be done about it. Hopefully that impression was inaccurate, but all around I did not enjoy our, fortunately, brief stay at Sven's Basecamp. If you have had other truly rustic adventure lodging experiences you will find your stay here, at a contrived rustic accommodation in the middle of the city, frustrating.

Loved the entire setup. was a great place for people on motorcycles to stay for the night. I think there was 6+ motorcycles the night that we stayed before heading up the Dalton highway.

Good location, decent price, comfortable cabins
Mosquitos but that is not Sven's problem...lol

There are 2 swamps right on the property which produced a tremendous amount of mosquitoes and you can't escape when you're on the property. Coin operated showers was an inconvenient. No towels, soaps, shampoos.

Sven met me when I pulled up and instantly introduced me around and made me feel welcome. Great guy.
Nothing. Great experience.
