The setting was beautiful, lots of water and wildlife.
The bedroom was much too small for the queen size bed ,very hard for older people to get in and out of bed I felt like I was doing a crab crawl.

The property is reachable by foot from the nearest bus station, that is the Batavia Stad. It's really serene and next to a small pond which adds on to the beauty of the whole property. We visited in spring season (April!) and everything around was in fresh green colours with clear sky. You can spend some leisure time here indulging in walks in small forests nearby or by visiting the less touristy beach. The room was nice and cozy with a full view of the open gardens from one side.

The host was absolutely fantastic. Very engaging and made my stay very pleasant. Comfortable bed. Place was very clean and the breakfast was served directly to you. Very nice.
There wasn't really anything about the actual place to dislike. The location is a bit outside of the town, so a little bit awkward to get to unless you drive.

Huis van Steen has confirmed our stay for 1 night via booking but 2 days before the travel I got a notification saying that there was no room left available, without any explanation. I have texted them but got no reply and I had to call then to obtain the confirmation that my booking was cancelled, although they never cancel it on booking.

The staff were really nice and the breakfast tasted good and the bathroom was nice.
It was quite overpriced and small for what we paid. The TV's were ancient.

The grounds around the property were lovely for a nice walk in the evening with our dog and it is situated right next to a new retail shopping outlet.
The shower was brilliant in power and constant supply of hot water.
The parking was a bit ad-hoc as it was just a drive way so we had to park near the road when we arrived so we didn’t block anyone in.
The room we were given backed on to the kitchen/dining room and we were rudely awoken by the staff talking to guests very early in the morning.
The bathroom bin was rusty and there was no towel rail so there wasn’t anywhere to hang up damp towels after a shower, and the bathroom fan was extremely noisy which meant night visits were carried out in complete darkness as to not wake up my partner.
I was really disappointed to get charged €25 per night for my dog, when I was told €15 by the owner, and I also didn’t agree with the daily charge…. I understand and agree there should be a cleaning charge for pets, but make it a fixed one off charge rather than a daily rate, and the daily rate certainly shouldn’t differ depending on the size of the dog!!
The towels provided were too small for adult use and the bedding was too small for the bed… We had a Super King Bed, with a Duvet that was far too small for the duvet cover… we both had 12” of empty duvet cover either side of the bed.

The shower was excellent! And the African ambiance of the breakfast room, as well as the bedroom, was very nice. Also, the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Nothing comes to mind.

The host was super hospitable, and he prepared an excellent breakfast for us in the garden. Nice coffee, sandwich, bread, cheese...yogurt and fresh fruits!!Much more than expectations!!
I left my Phillips Sonicare Electric toothbrush in the room and the week after my checkout they shipped it back to me. Really grateful for what Iexperienced there. Will definitely return back if possible.
Nothing. The furnitures were not fancy but good enough.

Rude and utterly unprofessional
The host was very unkind and unprofessional. Towels and the room was dirty, no space to walk to the bed, poorly maintained building with very low standard facilities

Lovely host and staff and nice location. Very good shower and very clean bathroom. Fridge is very handy too. Lovely gardens.
The room itself is value for money. However, 20 euro cleaning cost for a short haired dog that sleeps on own bed on the floor is double what is usual and the host also said she would prefer to charge 35 euro! Breakfast was 10 euro and was not very special. The room had a no smoking sign but absolutely stunk of stale smoke which for a non-smoker was not good.

Close to shopping and easy access to roads. Comfortable beds.
Proximity to rooms across the hall led to louder than desired noise.

The staff were welcoming, generous and helpful.
The bed was not comfortable.

Very good with friendly staff, who go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant + welcoming.
As I had stayed here before I was pleased to see the standards haven’t dropped.
