About this cottage rental
This seasonal property is located on a very quiet 70 acre pond in the rural Town of East Baldwin. The camp is located right on the shore of the pond and includes a small sandy beach and dock. The water is shallow in front of the camp making it ideal for guests with young children. The depth increases gradually and there are no sudden drop-offs. The bottom is mostly sandy with no aquatic vegetation to have to wade through.
The property is located 1/2 mile in on a dirt road from Rte. 11/107. The camp includes two bedrooms with queen size beds and one bedroom with twin bunk beds. There is a single bathroom with a shower only. The water comes from a drilled well so there are no problems with the water quality. For your entertainment, the camp has DIRECTV, a DVD and a VCR player with numerous dvd's and VHS tapes provided. The camp has a gas cook stove and an outdoor gas grille is provided for your grilling pleasure.
If you are interested in fishing, Sand Pond is noted as an excellent bass fishing pond. General fishing regulations apply to this pond and anyone 16 years old and over are required to have a State of Maine Fishing License. There are also no special boating regulations on this pond, however, any boat with any type of a motor must have a current boat registration from any state. Also, Maine requires that a suable sized life jacket must be in the boat for each person onboard.
There is a local convenience store located about a mile away known as The Whistle Stop. They make excellent pizzas as well as a variety of both hot and cold sandwiches and if you are running low on gas you'll find that they have gas pumps as well. If you need to do a lot of shopping, North Windham is only a 25 minute drive away and here you will find Shaw's, Hannaford and Walmart as well as just about all the various fast food chains like MacDonald's, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Dairy Queen, Wendy's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and more. If you like shopping the outlet stores, then the Town of North Conway, NH is the place for you and it is only a 40 minute drive and also has a Super Walmart and Shaw's.
Note: NO tents or campers are allowed to be set up or brought onto the property. Any guests that come over to visit are not allowed to stay overnight. Overnight stay is limited to the number of people listed on the rental agreement.

Great place

Expecting comfortable cabin, getting a dirty smelly place to stay. The refrigerator had food in it and needed cleaning before use. The back bedroom had a bloodstained mattress cover. The mattress was frightfully ancient. There were cobwebs lining the sill above the sink. The floors were covered with sand. The location was great. The pond enjoyable. We cleaned the stove, cobwebs, floor and put a different sheet over the mattress pad. The owner/cleaners should be ashamed.

We had a wonderfully peaceful week at the cabin. The weather was less than cooperative, but that didn't spoil the peace and quiet. There was a small issue but Neil addressed it and fixed it immediately. Will most likely rent the property again!

This is a lovely rustic cabin, complete with pine board walls. It was equipped with everything you need. It was so quiet that we felt as if we were all alone even though we had neighbors. Loved that the pond was right out our back door. Our dog was obsessed with sitting on the dock, watching the fish all day. The few people we ran into on our daily walks were friendly. It was a relaxing five days, which is what we were looking for.

We spent an excellent 2 weeks at Neal’s camp on this gorgeous pond. The tranquility and silence of almost zero boat traffic was lovely as we were able to appreciate the loons, the eagles and the ample bass literally flying out of the pond. Our 2 kids and our dog really enjoyed the shallow warm water as it allowed them to swim and explore for hours. The rustic charm of the camp was appreciated as it forced us to unplug and unwind.

Our visit brought us back in time. It felt like staying at Gramp's camp in Northern Maine during the 60s and 70s. The camp is rustic with just enough modern updates for comfort. The pond was like glass for most of our stay and the only ripples came from quiet paddlers or slow trolling fishermen. Sunsets from the dock were just beautiful. One of my favorite Maine traditions...the loons' calls...every night. Quiet dirt roads
were mostly traffic free and perfect for walking. The serenity here transcends one back in time to a quieter place without noise, speed and hi-tech distractions. We needed a break from all that and found it here.

Cabin sits on the edge of a sandy pond. Great for kids because it's very shallow. Also a perfect place to teach kids to kayak. We loved the quiet and spacious cabin. Would rent again.

This place was very quite, was a great place to relax. The house itself was very rustic feel ,but very homey feel as well. The house was well stocked with what you would need in a kitchen. We enjoyed having a campfire in the evenings and listening to the loons. Also a good place if you have young children, as the pond is swallow for a longs ways out. We would rent again without any worries. Thanks for a great get away Neil and Lynne

Reset vacation
This cottage was simply lovely. It was well equipped and very roomy. Located on a quiet pond with walk in sandy bottom. Beautiful sunsets, good swimming and anything we needed within thirty minutes. The host was attentive but not overbearing. I would recommend this to anyone looking to rest and reset for another year at work! We will definitely rent again.

Beautiful pond
The water is perfect for young kids, shallow and warm. Walk out a bit and good swimming. Nice breeze kept us cool even in the heat wave. Kitchen has everything you need, and there is a gas grill! So very quiet, even in peak season!

Nice relaxing stay
Very much enjoyed our stay at Neals cabin. Neal was very responsive to questions and great to speak with. The camp was cozy and inviting, great place to relax and unwind. Perfect outdoor area with large fire pit and gas grill. Good spot for walks through the woods, our dogs loved it! Mid September is a great time of year to visit if you’re looking for peace and quiet. The propane heater in the cabin came in handy to take the chill off in the morning. Neal keeps a 12 foot rowboat on the property which came in handy for bass fishing. This pond is loaded with bass in the 2-2.5 pound range, my son and I caught over 20. Would definitely rent again.

Great for families
Communication with owner was super easy, and the property was perfect for a getaway with our four year old and infant. The water was shallow enough that the baby could splash around and the four year old could go pretty far out before it got deep enough he had to swim. The fire pit and boat were lovely surprises!
The neighborhood was secluded but the neighbors we met were very nice, and it was less than an hour to Portland to go and poke around.
The cabin had everything we needed in the way of pots/pans/appliances, and the gas grill was great to have for cooking. I would absolutely stay here again.

This was our first time renting a property and we weren’t sure what to expect! Although we were close to home, we enjoyed being on vacation directly on the water! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed including paper plates, paper towels, toilet paper, etc! The beds were a bit old and rough for 9 nights of sleep but it wasn’t that big of a deal! The lounge chairs were awesome :) My kids (ages 5 and 7) loved the warm clean water but wish it was a tiny bit deeper (it was shallow legit half way across the pond so they really couldn’t swim!!) Awesome fire place and grill! Overall we had a nice vacation and Neal was easy to communicate with and made sure we were all set throughout the week!

Perfect space for families with Littles
The camp made great use of its space. Had plenty of room for our party of 6. The water access was perfect for little ones, stayed shallow for a good 20-30ft. Location was easy to get to, no stores for a good 15 or so minutes. Even though it was a hot week, never felt it because there was plenty of shade and breeze coming from the lake. Would definitely rent again!

Wonderful stay on Sand Pond!
We had a great experience renting this cottage! The lake was amazing and warm. Shallow and gradual as described! Perfect for toddlers! The camp was out of the way enough to enjoy the camping experience, yet close enough to old orchard and funtown splashtown to be able to go on a fun day trip with the kids! We definitely plan on going back next year!!!
