The breakfast was lovely and the room was spacious. There was a swimming pool onsite.
The Wi Fi did not work during our stay. We were supposed to get a balcony room, which didn't happened. But the bottom floor rooms we were given were fine.

Great family run accommodation, big clean rooms, nice delicious breakfast and close to the sea. Very friendly staff and management!
Everything was good, nothing to complain about.
4.0
The room was spacious and comfortable with air conditioning. The breakfasts were very good. The family who own/run the guest house were very friendly and accomodating, they arranged a number of trips for us. The location was OK, on the main road, but close to the centre and not far from the beach.
The swimming pool was fine, except for it not being cleaned while we were there until the last day. There were a large number of leaves and other detritus floating on the top and on the bottom. The guest house was quite pricey for what it was, we had been in a 5 star hotel in Colombo prior to this and that was cheaper.

I didn't use the pool but the room & shower were excellent, away from the main road was very quiet. Breakfast was fine (I had better egg hoppers elsewhere). Staff were very helpful.
Apart from my egg hopper's batter being too thick there was nothing to dislike & the restaurant 150m down the road on the opposite side was excellent & 200m the other way was Coconut Hill

From the moment we stepped through the door we felt at home. Greeted by Anura and his family at the beautiful and central Morning Star., Anura welcomed us in with a welcome drink and quickly checked us in to our gorgeous family room, second floor near the pool.
The Morning Star is set on a large property within a 100m walk to the famous Turtle Bay, in the heart of Mirissa. when staying here you are literally a stones throw from the beach where turtles land and hatch all at the same time.
There are a number of rooms, we were fortunate to have the Family room, a large and comfortable room with two king beds, seating and a beautiful seating area on the verandah overlooking the garden and a portion of the pool.
The pool is at the rear of the property and semi secluded. Its decked with day beds and both a large swimming pool and toddler pool.
breakfast here is beautiful with fresh cut fruits, coffee, tea and eggs (the way you like) with breads.
We were fortunate to be welcomed by Anuna and his family to a couple of buddist ceremonies which were amazing and very much appreciated by us.
When staying in Mirissa do not look past here for being central to all the major beaches, restaurants and sites such as coconut point, parrot rock, turtle bay and mirissa bay.
everything else you need is literally a short walk or tuk tuk away in this most beautiful stay in Mirissa.
We didn’t get to stay Longer

Best breakfast of my trip. Located at the main road but lovely decorated rooms face a long quiet backyard with tropical garden and a pool. Reach the beach via footpath 200m accross the road.

Breakfasts great. Room clean and comfortable. Pool excellent. Staff friendly. The manager kindly booked taxi and tickets with guide for the national park and we saw many of the elephants and other animals - very good trip. Buddhist festival very good at local temple.

beautiful property, very close to the beach, bars and restaurants, great location. I love the fact it is a family run hotel, the family are lovely, really friendly and accommodating.

fabulous rooms with a great pool. we had a queen room which was very clean and comfortable. the owners couldn’t do enough for us. the breakfast was very good. the grounds very clean and tidy. had a visit from a group of monkeys one day to entertain us
nothing to dislike, on arrival you will be taken to the family home don’t let this put you off

We had such a wonderful time at Morning Star! After a busy week travelling around Sri Lanka, we were warmly welcomed by the owners family, all of whom made us feel incredibly welcome. The room we stayed in was lovely and spacious and very clean. The pool was a lovely quite spot to relax by throughout the day. The breakfast was delicious with lots of yummy fruits, egg options and delicious toast. The owners wife made the most incredible pancakes with coconut and honey! They were incredible. The location was perfect. You walked right across the road and down on to the beach where there were lovely beach bars. It was a 5 minute walk into the centre of Mirissa for shops and more restaurants. I cannot recommend Morning Star enough! It is a beautiful spot and the owners are so lovely!
Nothing.

family owned hotel, very clean and comfortable. stayed in Queen room, mosquito nets. swimming pool very clean, visited by the local monkeys whilst sunbathing!! Food good very nice breakfast. Owners very helpful and let us extended check out as were late back from Whale trip.

Super friendly hosts (family). Exceptionally good breakfast. All rooms are nice and comfortable (we started in standard room at roadside, but upgraded to bigger superior rooms at gardenside). Whole place is nicely decorated and clean. Nice pool in the back. Located close to beach (just cross the road). Highly recommendable place. Hopitality is 10+.
Only minor things. And the roomprice is significant, but justified considering the superb breakfast, good location, nice rooms and incredible hospitality.
3.5
it was very close to the beautiful turtle bay - which was the best beach for kids! it had many peacocks and monkeys around the property which was nice to watch!
we liked the size of the room & the owner was so nice!
the cleaning lady was creeping us out. she appeared out of the blue and just hung around us. we felt that she didn’t respect our privacy. we didn’t like her energy.

Great Place, lovely owner amd decor: booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 5.
Nothing, we loved it.

This was a wonderful hotel to stay at! Would definitely recommend. The family who owned the hotel were lovely and really welcoming and we're always willing to help. All the staff were really friendly and accommodating. Great shower and the rooms were a great size. Breakfast was delightful. Lots of fresh fruit and eggs. Very close to the beach and all the main restaurants. Some of the rooms you can see a lot of animals such as monkeys, lizards and mongooses, but never felt they were intruding on the hotel space.
You get all the amenities of a big hotel, but you get the personal touch of a homestay.
Nothing :)

Great location for Turtle Point - snorkelling great here for green turtles. Lovely rooms with lots of traditional decoration. Great pool with shade from the hot sun. Very friendly staff.

Staff was very nice and attentive, beautiful rooms, close to a cute beach. It was possible to check out later
Communication about room cleaning could be better (to leave the key), a lot of moscitos around the pool

We had a great stay at the Morning Star. The staff is incredibly attentive and the fruit platter at breakfast is a dream. The pool area is surrounded by a lush green forest which gives the place a peaceful feeling. The turtle beach is just across the street (however the street is very busy). The facilities (bathroom, AC, bed & pillows) are of good quality.
We booked the standard double room and from the pictures it was not clear that this room is not located in the pool-proximal house with the little cute entries but the „main“ house where also the host family lives. This part of the guest house is closer to the street and it is quite noisy. Also the guest house is not „beach front“ as one has to cross a busy street and another beach club to reach the beach.
Sri Lankan breakfast is only served upon request on the previous day, otherwise you will end up getting a continental breakfast. I would have liked to know this in advance so we could have arranged.
Beach towel was only provided upon request. For a guest house of that price level I assume this to be provided without the necessity to ask. Same goes for Shampoo as only shower gel was provided.
Generally it feels to me that the rooms are a tad overpriced for what they are.

Booked here to stay for 2 nights , and what a beautiful stay I had , the business is a family run and couldn't ask for better to people to stay with, made feel welcome from the minute I arrived to the moment I left , they were extremely helpful in arranging trips and transfers and the breakfast and food cooked was exceptional, the swimming pool is also really nice to relax which I'd did plenty off , also in a great location very close to the beach and many local amenities, I will certainly come back to stay here again next time I come to Sri Lanka

Superb property run by a lovely family who can’t do enough to help guests. The breakfast was plentiful & delicious & able to meet the needs of dietary requirements with a smile.
The rooms are really spacious and the air conditioning works well. The property is 20m walk from Turtle Bay where we swam with giant turtles. There is a lovely pool which the kids had a great time in.
Thank you, we hope to visit again soon!

Very friendly family and very helpful to arrange activities. Very nice food as well at dinner and breakfast.

When we arrived we were upgraded to a superior room and were given delicious welcome drinks, the owners were very attentive and helped us to organise a driver to the next location. The pool and garden were very nice, with comfy sun beds.
We unfortunately did not manage to get wifi in our room, so we had to use the wifi in the public areas. The property was being renovated whilst we were there and the smell of varnish was slightly unpleasant around the pool area.
5.0
The family was very friendly, checked if we were alright when we came back late, and gave us fantastic breakfasts.
They also got a large spider out of our room!
Don't listen to the news about Sri Lanka. It is very safe and everything is normal for tourists!
