What a wonderful place to stay on our first 2 nights in Peru. Everything from the welcome to the staff and meals was superb. We used the travel concierge who sorted us out with an excellent private tour, Maria, that we thoroughly enjoyed. the bed was comfy and the room spotlessly clean.
Being really fussy we were in the first room in the corridor and the noise of other guests moving/leaving in the morning woke us up but nothing really to complain about

It was easy to book on booking.com
We were unable to travel due to a death in the family and they refused to work with us on a date change or refund since I had booked a non-refundable room. I understand not refunding the cost I knew the risk when I booked it but to refuse to change the date under the circumstance seems a bit self serving and selfish.

Elevator was broken for the 4 days we were there. We had to carry the stroller up and down the stairs.

We stayed at the country club Lima hotel for 4 nights. This is a grand and old hotel in the centre of san isidro and by the golf course. Our room was large with high ceilings. Very comfortable bed and large bathroom. However, it was located very close to the bar (open till 1), so it got very noisy at night with loud guests and the sound of cutlery etc. They also had a very small gym and tiny pool. The staff were friendly and helpful. Shout out to the Juan Carlos and the team for being so friendly and helpful! - full review here with picture - https://goo.gl/maps/5THsQpfXS1UATMaE7
Room too close to bar thats open till 1am.

The staff was very nice. Everyone was helpful and attentive.
The room cleanliness was okay, but not the best. There were some small stains on one of the towels and I found 2 small bunches of hairs on the floor when we arrived. We also had an issue with the mini fridge in the room that wasn't working properly. Mostly it seemed like the problem was coming from the unit being out dated.

we were able to check into our room early in the morning which was fantastic after flying from Australia. the Hotel is amazing and we loved it.
unfortunately we were not able to dine in the restaurant as they had a lot of Xmas bookings so they put us in an annex outside where people were smoking and vaping. it was most unpleasant and spoilt our dinner . I was surprised that as house guests we were unable to secure a table inside.

The hotel has plenty of charm & is well-located in Lima, but it's by no means perfect. Our room was both large, well-equipped & exceptionally comfortable. Both the king-size bed, the sheets & pillow cases were of a very high standard. The bathroom had a separate bath & a large walk-in shower, with nice amenities and (something I rate highly) a discreet light to enable night-time visits. We had a small outside sitting area but no view as we backed onto the adjacent Real Club de Lima - a slight negative but didn't really matter as we didn't spend much time in the hotel. The hotel's reception is large & airy, and our check-in process was quick & efficient. The hotel's concierge service was very helpful, arranging an English-speaking driver/guide to take us around the sights at a reasonable cost. There's an independent café attached to the hotel down some stairs to the left of the hotel's main entrance as you exit - that has rather better fare than the breakfast served in the hotel (see comments below).
Breakfast was below average for this quality of hotel, as were the service levels in the room. The dining area is quite small with too many tables for 4+ guests only half-occupied, resulting in guests either having to wait for a table inside or having to go outside under awnings in coolish morning temperatures & the smokers. The more senior staff in the breakfast area just couldn't care less, were sullen and unhelpful - it took 45 mins for some poached eggs to arrive, new clean bowls & plates in the self-service areas were not brought fast enough, coffee & tea took an age to be served. The younger staff are better but kept being growled at by their more senior colleagues. I'd suggest some re-training or replacements need to happen asap. The food itself was ho-hum, not a great selection for a 5* hotel, and not of a sufficiently high quality either. Next door is the "English Bar" - it's very small indeed but the staff there were a total contrast to the breakfast room - helpful and charming. The gym equipment is ok but the pool is tiny & unheated. One couple in our party was kept awake until 2am by a Fri night party in the Real Club next door, another had to move rooms at 1am as their a/c broke down & started to make a huge racket.

location and cleanliness
I have been staying at this hotel for years. perhaps this will be my last time. it has changed quite a bit. I was greeted politely and properly, and was informed that I had been upgraded. every time I make a reservation I request the same room which is large. to my surprise the “upgrade” was to a room about half the size of not less, and I was to believe this was an “upgrade”. very disappointing. over the four days I did not recognize any one, and I mean no one, from the reception, the restaurant, the bar, etc. the only one was Juan Carlos at the door who is always very pleasant and helpful.
i start my day at 5 in the morning, and usually make my way to the reception at 6 for my first coffee and croissant. to my surprise no more croissants, only some bad quality cookies, and I mean bad. coffee was like warm on 2 occasions. had to order water bottles in my room once because they had not replaced it. construction in the back yard is ongoing still, quite loud at times. seems there is a permanent state of renewals that require jackhammering, drilling, disc cutters, etc and all the loud construction. called reception the morning of checkout early and no one answered. come to realize the staff is very short handed.
quite disappointed this time. not the country hotel I am used to and certainly not for the price.

The room was extremely spacious with a huge, comfortable bed, and a large bathroom with a great shower. The hotel is in a lovely colonial style building, and we had a private terrace rather than just a balcony, which overlooked the neighbouring golf club with parrots and peregrines flying overhead. Service was attentive and very helpful, and I enjoyed using the small, well-appointed gym in the basement, next to a beautiful kidney shaped swimming pool and terrace. Breakfast was delicious with a wide choice of food including good coffee, pollo saltado, sparkling wine and very tasty pastries.
I stayed in late August, which is wintertime, but I've never been in Lima when it has been so cold (a La Nina year). Having dinner on the terrace didn't work for me as the heaters weren't adequate and food was cold before it arrived at the table. The two musicians who were singing/playing in the terrace bar looked very cold too. More seating should have been found inside when the main dining room was full instead of having guests huddling around tables in thick coats and looking very uncomfortable. In hindsight, I wish I'd ordered room service if there was no availability in the dining room or bar.

We loved this hotel and the professionalism of its staff. Unquestionably, this is the finest hotel experience we have had in all of our travels. (I have personally travelled to almost half the world's countries.) The location is extremely upscale and the hotel is very luxurious. Gracious hotel staff make certain to know your name and treat your every request, no matter how small, as their top priority. The restaurant is obviously where people from across town frequent and likely do so because of the delicious menu and the prestige of being there. Security personnel are discretely present throughout the premises, which adds to an overall feeling of safety as well as stature, but is also likely necessary because the hotel is home to countless museum pieces being displayed, including in individual rooms. The hotel's concierge service is unmatched in their professionalism and attention to detail. Our every request (which included arranging drivers, restaurant reservations, a last minute tour to the ancient city of Caral, etc.) were happily arranged. Nelson took fantastic care of us throughout our stay and you should definitely request him upon your arrival. He is an invaluable asset to the hotel and extremely knowledgeable of all things Lima and Peru. Further, I must compliment the daily room cleaning and nightly turndown services. Because of these exquisite services, each day we stayed at the hotel felt like we just checked-in. After long days of sightseeing and traveling we always looked forward to returning to our spacious and clean room, and enjoying our incredibly comfortable and clean bed.
We never lacked for anything throughout our entire 9-day stay.
We have no complaints after our 9-day stay. Everything was perfect!
