It was clean and very spacious. Nice pool also
The food wasn't that good. Food was a little overpriced and didn't taste as it was supposed to. Basic dishes like ceviche and lomo saltado didn't meet expectations.

I love that our bungalow was very close to the beach.
Staff members didn't communicated well. Breakfast is ridiculous small. You are only allow to serve once and if your 4 or 8 years old want more eggs they aren't allow to ask for more. I had to remind the staff members that we needed 5 towels for 5 people.
Some parts of the location aren't well care which is sad because has such a beautiful views. There were beer bottles trash around our bungalow.

Location seafront
Furniture at the balcony and fan on the roof. Furniture was awful just a couple of plastic chairs and nothing else. Roof fan is not strong enough. Air conditioning would be good.

Apart from that that there is no air-con, no fridge, barely running water times (see down below) from all of that, we found the stuff being very friendly, also the access to the beach is very nice.
at the check-in, we were told that El Refugio would turn off the water supply for the room with the exemption of daily from 8-9, 12-13 and 17-18. It left us sweated but unshowered, not being able to flush the toilet nor rinse the mouth after cleaning the teeth. Asked for a discount, we were ignored but charged for full service. Full water service we found out is given to their clients just 10 minutes walk to a well know property.
The rooms have a about 120 cm by 200 cm bed with a laid through cheap mattress. So is the other comfort, don’t expect an aiconditioner, nor a fridge in the room, nor fruits/meat/omelette provided at breakfast.
Besides the water-restrictions at this refugio, we asked at the other hotel, weather they face similar problems. There we were told, that currently the properties have to buy the water from a cistern, which the other property does and provide to their bedroom guests. Seeing that the difference to a customer-orientated property is pricewise almost the same as the refugio, we feel highly disrespected.
For almost the same money you could get a decent hotel instead of lacking in El Refugio

Very beautiful and calm, just some steps from the beach.
dirty bed sheets and towels. There were fleas in the room that bite us during the night, after our 3 night stay me fiancee had her legs full with red spots on her arms and legs. Breakfast was the same every day, no buffet.

the food wasn’t that great and the food was not worth the price… the breakfast was always the same and the drinks were too expensive too

Great location in front of the beach. Delicious food.
Excellent service from Denisse, Cristina and Miguel.
The room (bed) was not confortable. Very dirty shower floor and swimming pool.

The location and ambient are great, but it's the only positive thing about the place
Worst thing about the place for me was their ceviche, which gave me food poisoning. I talked to the staff about it, but the main reaction was an underwhelming "oh no"
The staff speak no English whatsoever
The place looks a bit run down and could be renovated sometime soon

The location is wonderful and it looks amazing with the beach and the pool.
The hospitality, the hospitality service and the offer of food especially breakfast

The hotel looks nice enough.
The food in the restaurant was very good.
The staff need to be a bit more attentive. A child vomited in the pool and people were swimming around in it for an hour before someone came to clean it.
There also needs to be an advisory that families shouldn't book the apartments near the pool unless they're ok with music until 10-11pm.

The pool was amazing. The location was perfect. The bar had great drinks with awesome bartenders.
A couple of staff members in the restaurant had a attitude when asked for something we paid for.

Hotel met our expectations, it was clean, cozy and beach was just a few steps away from bungalow. Staff were kind and friendly. I would definitely come back.
The ride to the hotel entrance was bumpy and had no signs to guide us through, also reception desk is not visible which made it quite hard to find when we first arrived.

Loud music next to the swimming pool... so loud that the noise was getting into the rooms!
I went to complain but they didn't seem to care much. They said it was going to finish at 10pm when the bar closed. The name "Refugio" means a place to rest... far from it. They should mention the loud music when booking with small kids as it was my case

The environment is calm and clean. There is no noise of traffic, and a very few garbage in the beach. The swimming pool is excellent because it is clean.
The DJ always put regaeton. In my opinion, the DJ should change the genre. It should be more diverse.

The moment we arrive to the property there was no one to apply the Covid protocol

The location was perfect and the facilities like the pool and the bar were great.
The rooms are too basic and the beds uncomfortable
