Owner went out of their way to help us out when our rental car malfunctioned. Beautiful place and great location.
4.0
The location to the beach and the size of the room. The bed was comfortable and the windows had mosquito screens. Overall, the facilities were clean and the personnel were friendly and helpful. The fan in the room was a lifesaver in the heat!
The breakfast was a bit disappointing and not worth getting.

A beautiful stay, super comfortable rooms and great kitchen to use. The property is a super short walk to the beach

Hostal Rutamar is amazing, it's perfect to relax and enjoy Canoa, friendly staff. The kitchen is well furnished, we cooked almost all our meals. You can rent surf boards for a very good price, unfortunalty it's not flexible (4hours only) so we had to go somewhere else.
We had issue with our room the first night (water comming in) but the staff was great and reactive, they changed our accomodation the next day !
The wifi also had issues, still because of the rain, the internet of the whole town blown up a few time and we stayed one whole day without wifi, but it's not the hostal fault at all !

Nice shared dorm! Very good location! Super-friendly staff!

This is a very nice hostel, friendly owners and a great location close to the beach. The place is kept very clean, there is a small kitchen which you are free to use and they provide mosquito nets which is great.
We had two rooms on the top floor, a double in the corner which was great and a quadruple next door. The double had the benefit of a large window which meant we had fresh air coming in so that, combined with the fan provided meant it was okay for sleeping. Unfortunately the room next door where our children slept didn't have the window so it was unbearably hot for them. We asked for an additional fan which was provided but it didn't really make much difference particularly for the top bunk. Other than putting in a larger window in the bathroom there is not much that can be done to counteract this but possibly a ceiling fan would be more effective! We stayed in March which is the hottest time of year so it's probably not an issue at other, cooler times.

quiet, quaint and location was close to everything.
it gets quite hot during the day in the room when the sun is out.

For me, the location was perfect - one street back off the beach - there are 'beachfront' properties, but they look out onto the road and people walking up and down - this location was a 2 minute walk from the beach (we nipped back and forth all day), but much quieter. The design is so cool, and very laid back. There is hot water and a fan in the room. We had breakfast one morning, which was lovely, but a tad expensive. There are lots of other places you can get breakfast - we tried a different place each day. I didn't want to leave!

unique boutique backpackers property. it is off the Main Street, so quiet and not quite so dusty. nice dog, not threatening. there were no bugs.
very small rooms. no hanging space, could use a bit more space for shelves, hang towels, etc. no night/reading light by the beds, just one big light in the ceiling. pictures look nice of people lounging in hammock it sitting on balcony, but only a few of these spots and unless you are the lucky one to get a room next to it it’s not useful. everyone smokes inside and out.

There are hostels where you’ll find a place to sleep…and then there are places like this. With it‘s tranquility, beautiful backyard, right-at-home feeling and heartfelt hospitality of Javier and the whole Rutamar family it‘s the perfect place to rest and charge your batteries.
Nestled in laid back Canoa with it’s authentic surf culture (and amazingly empty line ups!), there’s waves for everybody. In case you want to get your first surf experience or refresh your dusted skills, David, the on-site surf instructor comes highly recommended. He made sure that my pop-up was flawless, which really paid off in the water (after hating him on the beach for it, of course).

Very nice lady helping the guests, beautiful quaint hostel with cosy rooms. Good bed. Fantastic hammocks to relax in and Canoa is a wonderful little town! For the price definetely the best place you can stay in town.
The water pressure in the sink is really low, but that is literally the only thing I can think of...
