This was the second time we have stayed at Acorn Cottage and it was just as good as the first. A lovely cottage in a very peaceful village with good access to the local area. The pub in the village (100m walk) serves excellent food and is very cosy. As to the cottage, it has a lovely "cottage feel" to it, very clean and very well equipped. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we would thoroughly recommend it as the perfect place to stay to explore the area.

Acorn Cottage is welcoming as are the hosts. The village is a delight and having an excellent pub 50 yards away is a real bonus - great food there too. There is also a community village shop. There are so many lovely places nearby to visit; Sheldon, Topsham, Teignmouth to name a few and we enjoyed time in all of them. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful location then this is it.

Super! :-) Home from home, exactly as described. Lots of special touches, like milk, flowers on the table, toiletries, dressing gown & slippers. Lovely to have a choice of eating breakfast downstairs in the kitchen, and dinner upstairs in the dining area, then relax in front of the log burner after walking over Shaldon Bridge to Teignmouth beach and back (via the local pub The Church House Inn among a village full of pretty thatched cottages , also walked down to Coombe Cellars pub - notice the recurring theme ;-) ). We also drove to Totnes market, Paignton & Torquay. Our hosts were super friendly too, with lots of ideas for walks. Hope to stay with you both again :-)

Quaint little cottage in a small quiet village, perfectly located for exploring.
The property was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Very nice owners that welcomed us on arrival.
We will certainly be back again.

Found the property easily enough by following the directions given by the owners. We also did very well for time arriving at the property and asked if we could check in a little early and the owners responded quickly with a yes.
Everything was as advertised, and the owners popped in to say hello and left us a bottle of wine which was lovely - we had seen from other reviews that it's standard practice for them and not something that you get everywhere.
We made full use of the log burner as it's a treat for us and it made the upstairs very cosy and snug over a rainy, windy weekend.
A warning to others who stay here to be careful on the stairs, although very beautiful solid wood they are slippery and my partner almost fell down the whole lot while wearing socks. But please don't let that put you off staying, just take care!
Only gave 4 stars for location and area because the property is a little overlooked and packed in very tightly with other cottages. The pictures don't necessarily show this, but the village itself is beautiful.
Overall a lovely place to stay and I imagine in the summer the garden is beautiful in bloom.
The village pub is nice, but we loved the Goose far more!

Lovely, well equipped cottage, very quiet, despite being in the centre of the village.
Sadly, the polished wooden staircase wasn’t featured in the pictures of the property, not ideal for guests for 70+ years!
Local pub, brilliant for meals.

My partner and I stayed there all of Christmas as we just wanted a Quiet Christmas. From start to finish we had a Fantastic time. Everything was perfect. The Cottage was very warm with the Heating plus we had a Log Fire. Definitely give it a score of 10 out of 10 for Cleaning. It was also Decorated very lovely with Tree, Lights and all sorts of tasteful Decorations.
500 yards down the road was a Fabulous old Fashioned Pub. We went there for a meal on Boxing Day and it was Delicious. The Landlord was really friendly and all the Staff.
If you need a place to stay in that area I would
100% recommend Acorn Cottage.
Maddie who owns the Cottage was very helpful and very friendly. This Cottage is a Credit to her.

Cottage is lovely, very tastefully furnished and with everything you would need. Hosts Maddy and Godfrey are delightful, making sure all ok and giving lots of recommendations of walks and places to go. The wood burner was an added bonus and made the cottage extra comfy and cosy. It’s in a lovely little village and has 2 really nice pubs, one about 50yds away and another about a mile. We had a lovely stay and highly recommend the cottage!

The property is exactly like the photos show. The rooms are a good size and the open plan living/dining room is large but has a real cosy feel to it. I would think that in the summer it would be beautiful with the door opening onto the small decked area, we had use of the wood burner and that was just lovely with the weather we had.
There is all the equipment that you could possibly need.
The owners were very welcoming and helped us light the wood burner correctly.
I would recommend this property to anyone who wishes a getaway with walks near by but also plenty of towns for shopping.

Lovely little cottage in a sweet village. It has hills in every direction, but some amazing views from the tops of those climbs.

Cosy well appointed cottage. Living room upstairs, bedroom and kitchen downstairs a bit different. Cottage is very clean and well maintained. Owners extremely friendly and informative. Nice village pub yards away over road in village serving very good food. We would have no hesitation in booking this lovely cottage again.

Gorgeous comfortable little cottage in the heart of the Devonshire countryside just a short drive from the coast. Lovely warm welcome from the hosts.
Local pub serving amazing food just across the road. Beware the narrow roads though. Loved this place and it’s definitely on the return list.

The cottage is spectacular, and a credit to the owners, who went that extra mile to help us in anyway, 101% recommended, I would live there permanently if I could.

First time using VRBO and found the whole system of booking very easy, the communication first rate and the accuracy of the property was spot on.
Now for the property itself.. what can I say... The cottage was in an idyllic picture postcard village down a single track off the main road but very centrally located for Torbay area. The cottage was just beautiful inside and if possible better than the photos. It was absolutely 5*, furnished to a high standard and felt like a home instead of a holiday let. We met the lovely owners Maddy and Godfrey who came to see we had all we wanted. Their hospitality and attention to detail is first class and kindly left us a lovely bottle of wine for our arrival. The only disappointment was having to come home after a wonderful stay in this stunning cottage. Thank you both for sharing this little haven with us.. we will be back one day....
