Great pool. The rest of the property was subpar

We had a nice time staying at this property. The pool was the greatest hit! Very wooded and secluded, a nice weekend break from the city. I would recommend this house!

Upon arriving at the property, we noticed that house was extremely hot and uncomfortable. Nothing which was shown in the listing looked as it did in person. The pool contained a green film, the hot tub water was discolored and dirty. The “lawn/patio furniture” contained mold and dirt. The inside couches were ripped apart from what looked like animals. Later we found that none of the AC units worked, the circuits blew which cut off power to half of the bedrooms. In order the get some air circulating on a 98 degree day, we opened the windows only to find that half of the windows didn’t contain screens. Mosquitos swarmed the home.
To state that the owner was inappropriate, rude, and unaccommodating would be an understatement. We were greeted by overhearing the owner curse and berate the maid, stating “don’t let those f*cling girls in my house before 4pm”. This was an agreement we had requested well in advance, to arrive at 2pm.
He was present at the property as my party and I arrived, watching us set the house up with decorations. He insisted he personally show everyone how to “use the driveway”, and comment on the decorations being used. He then asked two of the females in the party to go in the pool and “go skinny dipping”.
Stay away at ALL costs. The price is the way it is for a reason, you will be better off in a roadside motel. My party and I left at 8am the following day, and cut our well planned vacation short. Everyone had to return to their homes because we had no where else to stay. Again, beware.

The house was gorgeous, immaculate, private, & has breathtaking views.
I also want to thank Alex personally, for accommodating our requests, & working with us.
I can't wait to go back!

Bachelorette
This house was perfect for a bachelorette party. The host let us arrive early to set up the decorations for the Bride despite his crew still being there cleaning for us. Lots of room to sleep the large group of girls we had. The pool is large and SERENE. The hot tub was a good vibe when we came home after the bars. All appliances in the house worked great. We had a private chef come and cook for us one night and everything went smoothly! The wifi worked as well for all of us. Just a heads up that phone service doesn't reach the house so you just need to walk into the drive way to receive or make a phone call. One issue we encountered was ordering Ubers; for some reason uber takes its drivers to a completely different address, so we had to drive to the end of the drive way to flag down the uber to have him follow us down the long dirt road to the house. Despite the uber issue, we still managed to get 14 girls into multiple ubers, three separate nights!! The house has no neighbors, so you can be as loud as you want! We are not a picky group of girls and enjoyed the house. The house is not something super fancy if that is what you are looking for. The house gives off old cabin vibes (which we loved but not everyone is the same)! The host made sure we we had everything we needed and was an easy phone call away. My only tip for host is possible upgrading the furniture by the pool as it is quite old. Literally the best bachelorette party, the Bride could not have been happier!!

Recent stay
Alexander was an incredibly accommodating host and made the whole process very easy. The property is massive with plenty of outdoor space and beds. It is very rustic with an old cabin feel, so the place has a lot of character. If you like that and nature, this is the place for you.
The pool is huge and the yard is also massive.
Hot tub and grills worked well.
All in all, we enjoyed it and Alexander was a great host.
One note to future renters: since the property is situated off the road, Ubers sometimes had difficulty finding the place. Make sure to explain it to them accurately when ordering.

Unpleasant experience and difficult owner.
My friends and I stayed at this property for three nights and had a very unpleasant experience. To start, three weeks before our trip the owner came off of VRBO, and we needed to contact him to confirm our stay. We were told everything was good and that he had just changed to another agency. When we arrived, the owner, the cleaning service people, and the owner’s two dogs were there even though earlier that day I had told the owner what time I was arriving and he said that the time was fine. Not only did the owner linger at the property too long, he left my friend and I alone with his two dogs for about half an hour. When he returned to the property he began to speak to us again asking if he could jump in the pool before he left, putting us in a very uncomfortable situation. We woke up on our second day and the water was not working at the house (toilets, shower, etc.). We immediately called the owner who told us a plumber would come right away. The plumber did not come until two more phone calls and four hours later, causing us to have to cancel our plans for that day. On our last night there the power and the water both went out. We were left with no phone service (no land line and no cell service) to contact the owner, or anyone else for that matter. After our return home, the owner was contacted and asked for a one night refund due to the loss of water. He was extremely difficult about this but after two days of back and forth he agreed to send a check for a one night refund, and three days later, he sent a text saying that the check was in the mail. At no point did he say anything about damage to his house or issues with recycling. This is because we left the house in perfect condition. Eight days after our stay, and three days after he texted me that the check was in the mail, I got an email (the owner had now returned to VRBO in order to do this) getting charged $1,000 for fraudulent damages of a broken window and not recycling. On this same day, I received a check from the owner for $1,000 ($500 less than he agreed to). I would NOT recommend that anyone stay at this house.

Nightmare Rental
This was a very disappointing rental for many reasons -
The property was not ready by check-in time and the owner was on the property removing trash from the previous rental and preparing the house which delayed us getting settled in for the first two hours. The house itself is neglected, there were bugs EVERYWHERE inside and the appliances did not work (oven / dishwasher). The yard has not been maintained and the weeds were very high all around the pool which itself was crumbling at certain spots. The pool cleaners arrived a few hours after check-in and we couldn't use the pool until they were finished. The hot tub was half filled when we arrived and the pool cleaners put the hose in the hot tub and asked us to remember to remove the hose when it was full and then move the hose to the pool so that it could be filled (the pool was also obviously only 2/3 full). This is not a responsibility that should be expected of the renter and should be taken care of by owner prior to arrival.
The listing mentioned WiFi was included, within hours of arriving the WiFi was shut off because the owner had a past due balance over 3 months (we had to call internet company to resolve), this is an issue because there is no cell service at the house at all so the lack of WiFi left us unable to communicate with anyone not at the house. There was also no propane in the grill which was listed as an amenity and we were looking forward to using.
Overall the check-in process with the owner was painful, the condition of the property was unpleasant, and the lack of noted amenities (WiFi & Grill) made for a very unenjoyable stay and I would not recommend this rental.

Double Booked
On Thanksgiving weekend, while driving to the property, we were told by the owner that the home was not available. The second time I called, my call was screened. The third time, it was blocked. Only after we contacted Vrbo and their representatives called the owner did we hear back from him. Long story short, we were left without a place to stay, on the day that we were supposed to visit. Our thanksgiving weekend was thrown into chaos. Vrbo was excellent about helping but this owner is not to be trusted and we had a terrible experience with him. Extremely disappointed. Beware.

Different but nice
Our trip was a great success and we really enjoyed the house! It was, however, very different in look and feel than the photos convey. The house feels much older and more rustic than the pictures make it seem. This leads to a lot more character of the house, but it may not be the character you sign up for. There were interesting oddities around every corner that made for a lot of fun. Everything worked and we certainly enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub (it was too early for the pool to be ready. Alex was a great host, and was extremely communicative and helpful throughout our stay.

BEWARE. Not trustworthy and does not return security deposit
I experienced multiple issues but mainly I have not received my security deposit since my May 2018 trip (now August 2018). No claims were made that damage was done to the property and I was able to obtain a written acknowledgment of a debt by the homeowner via email and text messages. I keep getting told that it's coming or I sent it to HomeAway and when I follow up with HomeAway the story changes ahain and it's always coming 'next week'. Additionally, the house is far removed from the main road, not well kept (was eventually refunded $500 for dirty hot tub conditions after first check bounced so a second had to be sent- but not the security deposit) and the police were called to the property when we returned at night and the front door was unlocked. The police officer located extra keys around the house that we were not made aware of which cause our group to feel very unsafe in the house - forcing us to leave the property early. Conveniently, the homeowner shares the content of the security footage the same day the footage gets deleted so all I received were potentially selected video clip email attachments .... I will never really know.
Sadly, I'm describing my bachelorette party which I was obviously looking forward to being a good experience with my friends and sadly, Alexander continues to make this a negative nuisance. I held off on writing my honest review hoping that the homeowner would do the right thing and return my deposit but this site depends on honest reviews to vet out people like this.

An oasis that is a source of beauty, rest, renewal as well as a place for fun
My experience was only positive beginning with the wonderful owner. He was warm and welcoming and helpful for any questions. I have decades of experience with house rentals in the Amagansett and East Hampton area and this was by far the best experience yet. The house is large, has a lot of character and is generally well done... the outside however is really what is outstanding. The vast amount of land is well maintained and not too manicured ( au natural) expands for many acres with a gorgeous salt water pool , a hot tub and a rope swing all there ! There are two big barbeques, a fire pit area and ample chairs for lounging and chilling with your loved ones. This house is worth saving up for and we will be doing that for our next vacation !

The Perfect Weekend On The South Shore
We rented this home for our yearly get together with a group of friends. Alexander & his property manager Ryan made communication a breeze. They were both attentive, professional, and very nice. The home can accommodate a large crowd comfortably. The kitchen & attached living room were our go to spots. Easy access to the yards through the many doors. The property is enormous & is situated in a very private, quiet area off the beaten path of your main attractions. This was perfect for all of us to lounge around and relax. The hot tub was great, the pool is huge- best part is the swing rope, it made the pool very fun! The property and home itself needs some slight maintenance but the entire property, home included is EXTREMELY clean. That's a plus for us! All around, fabulous experience, amazing trip. Thank you so much!!
