Breakfast was delicious, quite a small selection but understandable given that the resort only has 5 rooms. Location was superb and the bonus was the kayaks and bicycles at no extra cost.
Bicycles were very basic and one had a loose chain which occasionally came off the sprocket although it was easy enough to put it back on.

it was more beautiful than we expected! Number 9 is on the corner, spacious room with big mini fridge, a/c and fan. There is a small kitchenette with microwave and 2 top stove. And since the boutique hotel wasn’t busy the communal seating area felt like our own lounge!
And best of all, a nice, cool pool to cool off after a day out exploring the island!
We loved everything!

nice location at the river, convenient to borrow motorbike for a reasonable price, the owner helps you to book trips, etc.

Very nice place. Great features.
A bit far from the main road.

Everything - the staff, location on the waters edge, rooms, food, service, etc.
Like everywhere during the Songkran holidays it was expensive but during the low season it is very good value for money.

Literally the best place I’ve ever stayed in Thailand. The room is huge and very beautiful, very clean and has a minibar. The owners are very friendly and helped me greatly with planning my trip. There is a cafe right with magnificent view and very delicious food. this is a part of the hotel.

Very stylish and original hotel and very good value for money. The managers are very friendly and accommodating. I loved that you could use the kayaks to go to the beach or up the river, and the outdoor terrace restaurant is the perfect place for breakfast and coffee. Our room was huge and very comfortable.
Everything was great

This place is wonderful. We stayed for 2 weeks over Christmas as a family with teenagers in 2 rooms. The location is very beautiful and we loved kayaking to the beach or dinner. Great restaurant on site. There's also also a lovely beach bar close by. It was our first time in Thailand. We had the most amazing holiday and wished we could have stayed for longer!

unique corner off gorgeous Klong Phrao beach on a charming canal leading i to ocean, with kayaks and paddleboards and lots of cozy and colorful reading and relaxing nooks around the property.
if you don’t have a motorbike, you’ll need to use the island “song taew” taxi - very good and timely - to get around.

A very beautiful and relaxing spot right on the river. The owners were amazing and couldn’t do enough to make sure our stay was comfortable and memorable. Thank you Lima and Waldaus!

We booked five nights, looking forward to staying there and meeting the previous owner, Eric, who had received stellar reviews. However, we were disappointed when we arrived and were made to feel unwelcome by the new management who had taken over the hotel just about one week prior to our arrival.
Upon arrival, we were exhausted after a long transit and asked the receptionist to confirm we booked the twin room with a private balcony. She informed us that the room we booked did not come with a private balcony and that the description online was incorrect. We felt it was reasonable to ask if the management could consider a discount, to which the owner, Lina, offered to cancel the booking and refund the room, but it was high season, so we decided to stay in fear of not being able to find alternative accommodation on short notice. Lina then offered to request a credit from Bookings, which we agreed to. Instead, she gave us 1000 baht, and we expressed our gratitude for this.
Later, we asked for a bucket to handwash our clothes and inquired about the availability of complimentary beach towels. We were told there was a 30 baht rental fee for the towels, so we used our own. Later, we heard a sound in the bathroom that sounded like someone having a shower, and when we checked, we found that the bidet hose was spraying water everywhere. We reported the issue to the receptionist, and the matter was resolved.
That evening, we went to a shared seating area by the river to have a quiet drink, but Lina's husband Usev informed us that we had to buy drinks from them to have them in the communal area, so we returned to our room as per his wishes. Out of respect we then thought it best to ask if it was OK to smoke in the shared areas, and were told it was fine.
The next morning, Lina accused us of breaking the bidet hose and implied that we were lying about not misusing it, concluding that our handwashing was the cause (we hadn’t even used the bidet hose for this). She demanded that we pay 500 baht for the repair and admit fault. We paid for the damage in attempt to avoid further conflict, but refused to admit fault for something we did not do. However, Lina continued to accuse us of being terrible guests who looked for faults and of taking advantage of her. We started to feel unwelcome and eventually asked if she wished us to leave, to which she said no. However she continued to make accusations which felt unfair, unnecessary, and unhelpful such as comparing us to children adding that we were guilty until proven innocent, that she was not happy we had our own drinks on the terrace (despite us being unaware about this implied rule), and that we probably took her towels, which we didn’t.
In the end, we stayed for only one night and left, feeling disappointed that our stay had been ruined by the new management's attitude. Our day was lost to this negative experience but we just feel lucky to have found another place to stay where we feel welcome despite having to pay more money at the last minute to feel comfortable. Finally Lina and Usev agreed to refund the balance of the nights unstayed. However, If you do choose to stay here, beware that if anything goes wrong you could be blamed and have to pay for something you didn’t do. It feels that your stay will be dependent on the new management’s judgement of you. We are seasoned travelers, having mostly great experiences with accommodations we have booked, and we try to leave fair and accurate reviews. This was our worst experience in many continuous months of traveling, as well as over the years.

Extremely wonderful place to stay. You stay next to the river... you can take a kayak and go to the beach, you can rent a scooter and go wherever you want, you can simply chill over here.
Eric is very helpful and the rest of the crew is very friendly (the dog too :))

Everything about Watercolours is outstanding. Erik and his team are all friendly and helpful, creating a calm, laid back vibe. The location on the river is stunning and a great place to watch the world go by. Our room was lovely, huge and we loved the quirkyness of staying here, opposed to staying at a classic beach resort. Breakfast (payable) was always excellent with lots of smiles. Great to be able to use kayaks, canoes and sups to explore the area. In wanking distance of a marvellous beach restaurant and beaches. We would highly recommend this little gem. Thank you for a memorable stay on Koh Chang.
Having to leave!!

This pace is sooo charming! Kind owners, beautiful location, great facilities, reasonable prices.

The staff and owners are super friendly and helpful, the location is really beautiful and quiet, the rooms are big, comfortable and super clean. Excellent facilities and complementary features, SUP, bikes, kayaks and drinking water (less plastic produced). Perfect beaches close by.

Beautiful, peaceful, clean, and friendly. The perfect island escape. It has everything you could need, and with free kayaks, you are only a five min paddle from the nearby beaches. Eric, the owner, is very friendly and was always on hand to help with logistics and tips. Couldn't recommend more highly!

This place was perfect, and the best place we stayed on Koh Chang. as soon as we left we missed it. The peacefulness, Eric and the incredible staff (Bua 🙂), looking at the river over breakfast every day, the wonderful breakfasts. And Nay the dog. The rooms were lovely and immaculately cleaned each day, and the lobby/reception area was a little oasis to spend time during the day. can’t recommend enough!
That they didn’t have a minimum stay policy of a week! 😁

Breakfast was not included.
Note that there is no "swimming pool". There is a very small tiled basin in the lobby where you can dip your feet. It is NOT a pool !! This is a gross miscategorization and should be corrected immediately. Very misleading. I would have chosed another hotel if I had known.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. They booked our day trips and boats to different islands. The room is beautiful and the facilities are fantastic. Particularly the canoes, SUPs and kayaks! Highly recommend

Awesome location by the water, and very cozy atmosphere. Owners and staff were very kind (also the dog!) and helpful with arranging trips etc.
We mentioned that 2 bikes weren't working and the next day there were 2 brand new ones.
Ever thing was great.

Beautiful place on the water that’s well maintained by Erik and his staff who are lovely and super helpful. Nice to take the kayaks out when you want, good smoothies, quiet relaxed vibe which is ideal if you also have to work. The wifi is superb didn’t have any issues and I stayed for nearly a month.
Mozzies but you’ll get that everywhere near the water 🤷♀️

The location on the river was beautiful and peacefull. Surrounded by nature( ospreys monitor lizards herons). The staff could not do enough for me and nothing was too much trouble. Supremely comfortable. A nice little beach bar no more 200 metres away and shops and restaurants no more the 1.5 km stroll

The staff were amazing, location was amazing right by the river where you can chillout at the restaurant in whatever weather, sunshine or even rain, it's a perfect spot and the food there was really nice too.
Definitely a place to come back for again in the future!
If there was a keycard system to enter the rooms, instead of keys, would make the place just more than exceptional!

Cozy, warm and welcoming vibe, we almost cried when we had to leave. The Room with the terrace was so cute and big. Two little cute dogs, the people who are working there are so kind. the food in the restaurant that they have is also very delicious (especially the peanut butter oatmeal with bananas)
