It was like an oasis. Peaceful and calm. Only the necessary was on display. Locally produced furniture.
Everything was great!

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like! The facilities were exceptional, and the staff (family) took care to each one of us like a family. We had the most comfortable stay with an amazing selection of food from local produce. The private onsen experience was also a plus!
Nothing to not like

The home was high quality with an amazing onsen over looking the river. The hosts accommodated our vegan diet. They prepared excellent and unique meals - it was a fine dining experience with local products prepared by the family. This has been the best experience we had during our trip in Japan.
Nothing, everything was outstanding.

Staying at Shiroyamakan was a life-changing experience for my wife and I. The accommodations and the food were absolutely exquisite, but beyond that, the family that runs the inn completely stole our hearts. If you are visiting Japan, staying at Shiroyamakan is sure to be the most treasured experience of your entire trip.

Everything about this hotel was absolutely amazing and breathtaking. The hotel is ran by the entire family and you literally feel as if you’re apart of the family by how well they take care of you. I wanted them to adopt us and live there forever! I’ve traveled many places in the world and stayed in many luxury hotels, this takes it a step above that.
Nothing.

The family that runs the place is the most amazing little local family. They forage/hunt for the meals themselves, they do everything for the guests. It is also their family home.
I am an architect, and what the family did with the design of the place exceeded expectations! The rooms are all top quality, overlooking the river or the gardens. The bath (onsen) is private and perfect for families/couples/small groups! Again, absolutely beautiful.
They care so much, and you can tell.
The only thing was the drinks at dinner were not included and they were quite expensive. Too bad a minimum standard wasn’t included in the high cost of the room.

If there’re ten stars for rating, I’d like to choose that! Amazing heritage property combine with modern facilities, full package traditional dinner and breakfast, beautiful view and scienary, and the fascinating hospitality, make us definitely come back again in winter!

Location is great - very close and walkable to the gassho houses in Shirakawa-go. Food was fantastic - we liked everything we were served. Of course the hida beef is good but the river fish were also delicious. The family that runs this inn is super sweet, friendly and welcoming.

A lovely place run by a lovely family. It’s home away from home. The food is amazing.
