Great stay and well located for visiting Orkney.
The Host was very responsive to all my inquiries, which was great. And the milk and breakfast goodies were very much appreciated!! The unit is very spacious, and the kitchen was well- equipped, so it was easy to cook our meals. The main attractions on Orkney are all relatively close - about 15-45 minutes depending on where you are going-since the Island is not that big. We liked the location because it was a beautiful drive to get there and was near the water and St. Margaret's Hope for the ferry. You can also walk to the Sands Hotel, which was a great place to have dinner. Our only challenge was that the host sent pictures of where the lockbox for the keys were so I knew it was on a post, but it was a bit hard to tell what unit ours was, and I'm not sure I would have found the lockbox without the help of the neighbor. A better narrative description of which unit was ours and where the lock box is- right across from the door- would have helped.
The group of buildings doesn't have a sign on the street - which would be very helpful in finding it, even if it was small, or within the group of buildings to make sure you knew you were in the right place. Or the host could send a googlemap pin that others could download to help find the place. Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed Orkney, & Kelpies was a good base.
the cottage was cosy, clean & had a comfortable bed, plus pillows. The situation was fine, especially as we had the Sands hotel a short walk away.
The Seaview Stores were closed, & I imagined because of the name that the cottage would have a sea view, but we only looked at another bungalow. Also the contents of the cottage were quite basic - only 2 wine glasses & 3 tumbers not really big enough for beer. A couple of lamps & some cushions would have added enormously to the feel of the place!

Peaceful, comfortable, convenient, sunny - all great!
Everything to like. The location was great - very peaceful; partial but still lovely sea views (see photo); very handy for a beach and dog exercise; lovely pub/restaurant in village 5 mins walk away; Kirkwall less than 20 mins drive away; less than 10 minutes from St Margaret's Hope ferry arrival / departure. Apartment also very comfortable and cozy (this was February). Very speedy internet. We also had a staggering amount of sunshine!
Nothing significant. The slightly odd location of the only shower (in the en-suite) was a minor drawback. Bring your own coffee-making hardware. But really - it was lovely and these are trivial criticisms. We'd go back tomorrow!

Way beyond our expectations and we will definitely be booking another stay!!
Kelpie was exactly what we needed for our week’s stay. There was plenty of parking for our motorhome and the facilities in the accommodation were excellent. We were able to get our washing done and dried in a day!!
Unbelievably we found it too warm in the house and the controls on the storage heater didn’t seem to respond as we thought. On the plus side this meant that our washing dried in a day!!
