Great Location
The house is in a great location with great views of the city from a peaceful area. The listing was accurately described and the owner was great to deal with. The furnishings could use some updating and some TLC. The owner was very responsive and took care of everything immediately the two times we had to call him.

Best vacation yet!!
We are a family of 9 and vacation every year around Christmas. The house was more than enough space for all of us to Vacation comfortably. I don’t think that we could’ve gotten a better location, easy travel via subway to manhattan, easy travel via car to Long Island. The view is more beautiful than I imagined it could be. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Pizza from Tommy’s a short walk away was the best pizza I ever had! Michael is so responsive and very accommodating. I would recommend this property to all of my friends and family. It was such an enjoyable experience and vacation. Thank you Michael for everything!

good holiday
We really enjoyed our stay Surrounding could have been a bit more up-keep The house was fine with a few hick-ups which we fixed ourselves where possible and we had great assistance from Michael. However, he seemed to think there was damaged to his countertop by us. For the record we meet the damaged and it was covered over with a glass filled with tea bags Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and took very good are of the house
I think the furnishings in the living room need upgrade and in darker colours

great stay
The house was awesome, we really enjoyed our stay, the only concern we had was the high tide that flooded us in, we were unaware of this.

Nice location by the ocean
The house is right by the ocean, communication with Michael went smoothly, he was able to answer all out questions and was very friendly and wanted to make us feel welcomed. The area is safe and there is not much traffic, so it is also quiet. The sunset over Manhattan is amazing! The connection with the rest of the city is pretty ok, there is the A line which takes you directly to Manhattan. There is also a bus which goes to the beach and Queens. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet place (we were travelling with a 2-year-old) but you also want to do some sightseeing.

Perfect
Michael and his family were so kind! It was perfect for us. My teenagers by the end of our trip were taking the train/subway in an out of the city on their own and had the best time.

A gem!
Looking to visit NYC but don’t relish the thought of sleeping in a concrete jungle? Broad Channel is a small beach town within the metropolis of NYC. This house is right on the water and every night we savoured watching the sunset over the skyscrapers of NYC. It was like we were living in a postcard. Our host Mike was friendly, easy to message and his home had all the space and amenities we needed. Do yourself a favour and go the less traditional NYC vacation route...forget an overpriced standard hotel, room in Times Square. Stay somewhere where you can sleep with the windows open, have space to recharge and sea air to breathe. 5stars!

We loved the location but we went during the crazy heat wave of 2019
The view was incredible and we loved watching the wildlife from our rooms and the back deck. There was great neighbors and even the property owner's (that share the building) family and friends were super nice. Michael's wife was very nice and welcoming yet Michael wasn't that way once we asked for a fan. The house was a bit run down and there was electrical things that were a little sketchy. There was a broken light hanging from wires in the hall, the fan in the bedroom wasn't working. We asked Michael if there was a box fan to use and he wanted to see it for himself the broken fan. So they walked upstairs to look at it and he let us borrow the box fan. All the upstairs outlets weren't working except in the bathroom but we didn't tell him because we felt it couldn't be fixed while we were there and that we were already an imposition on him because we asked to use the washer 2x during our 4 night stay at their house during our 2 week vacation. Normally we wouldn't wash our clothes 2x at a house but we were there during the crazy heat wave that hit the East Coast and the real feel temp in NYC was 123°F!! So our clothes were sweaty and stinky and there was 2 families (8 total) and we did a total of 4 washes during the 4 nights. There was little things like no wash cloths, dish soap, hand soap in the 2 bathrooms, oven mits, or baking sheets (we were reheating our delicious NY style pizza that was just up the street). When we first got to the house the inside was 90°F, so it didn't seem inviting from the first impression. It took a long time for it to cool down even with the windows open letting in the cross winds, which was advised to do, but again it was in the high 90's outside. We liked the location but don't think we'd come back. We felt like we were an imposition and the electrical issues, especially with a lot not working, just made it feel like he didn't care enough to take care of this potential gem of a house.

Excellent Views, Peaceful Setting, Perfect Size for Family of 5 or 6.
My family & I spent a week here this May. The house made an excellent "home base" for our vacation. It is an easy walk to the subway station and then you can take the train anywhere you want to go. The house had all of the necessities as well as plenty of towels and a large assortment of cookies utensils. Be aware of the tolls in the area ($4.75 to drive on or off of the island each time as well as $9.50 at Whitestone or the Bronx bridge). The owner was easy to work with. If we vacation in the area again, we will absolutely consider staying here.

A great place to stay
Loved the place, it was perfect for the family. We had 10 guests the first night, and 9 guests after that. Steve the next door neighbor was super nice to visit with. The house was clean and had everything we needed. If you want a nice relaxing place to go that is outside the city this is the place. The porch overlooking the bay with the city in the background was perfect, the weather was also perfect. There was a train station close by that got us everywhere where we wanted to go. We did rent cars and did some driving to Coney island and such but I would not recommend driving in NY. Yuck!!! Mass transit is the only way to go esp if you don't know the city. Thank you Michael.

Family Get Together
We were getting together to celebrate my daughter's graduation from Hofstra University. We were 8 strong and the Sunday even dinner had 16 attendees and we had plenty of space with great commute time to everything.

Perfect house for our vacation
The house was wonderful, central for all places we wanted to visit. The view OUTSTANDING. The owner was terrific, made us feel so welcome and any question we had, he replied to us quickly.
The train station a few blocks away from us was so convenient. The deli and ice cream store, one block away were great. Growing up in NY and missing the delicious food was easily remedied by ordering from the deli. The sandwiches and hot food was spot on.
The house has 3 bathrooms, 2 of them with a shower, tub or both, which made getting ready to start our day easier for the 5 of us. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glassware, pots, pans. There are some condiments in the pantry and we happily left some that we purchased. Plenty of towels, beds were comfortable. There is a washer/dryer in the house but not readily accessible. I contacted the owner and he arranged the day for us to use them. The house has 2 sides and the laundry room shared by both parties. It was no problem at all, and I understand completely how people can and do take advantage, so arranging with the owner was the right thing to do.
Every morning I started out having coffee on the deck, and every night relaxed on the deck taking in the NYC skyline and the gorgeous sunsets. My grandchildren had plenty of space to run around on the property and check out the fish, crabs seagulls and swans in the water. My granddaughter slept in the room on the 3rd floor, and loved looking out of the window seeing the water and the skyline. Easy access to parking off the street which was most helpful. When I visit my family in N.Y. again, I will plan my vacation on the dates available at this home. We had a fabulous vacation and this home and the owner played an important role in the successful stay.

Great Place to Stay
We were a group of three adults and five kids ages 12 and 13 years old from DC and Boston, meeting in the middle. This was the perfect house for us. There were enough bathrooms (one on each of the three floors) and enough space to stretch out. Broad Channel is a small, quiet place that looks like a fishing village. The kids went out on the deck, dock, and walked around town. They went to the nearby school yard, bought a pizza at a shop nearby, got to know a cat who was wandering around, and found "treasures" on the curbs as they walked through town. It is a world away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. The view from the deck was beautiful, and there was a big table and chairs out there where we could eat and admire the view. There was no problem with airport noise when we were there. The beds were comfortable. There was parking right beside the house. When we went into Manhattan, we used the subway. It was raining that day, so we drove to the subway stop and easily found a parking spot there. It's a short drive to Rockaway Beach. Michael and his family were very responsive and accommodating. If you want to visit the city and get away from it, too, stay here. We would stay here again.

comfortable stay away from the city
the space was just right for us; plenty of room and the extra bathrooms were perfect. The location is just far enough from the city to still be in the city but away from the hustle and bustle. It's a short walk to the train/subway and a block from the mini market.
