The buffets gave a lot of options. Large swimming pool. Quiet at night.

Location and the low profile structures made it possible to feel the openness of being near the beach.
Jacuzzi/spa wasn’t as clean and maintained as one would expect for such a resort. Although most everything else was nice. Many lounge chairs need to be replaced and more umbrellas/ shade is needed.

The staff is amazing! Everyone was great with us , the drinks, the food , the activities. The room are clean every day. If you need something they help you.

The hotel looked much nicer in the pictures than what it really is

We loved the tasty food and the helpful staff. San Jose is a much more low key area than Cabo so we appreciated NOT being in the party scene.
You cannot swim at the beach in front of the posada. If you eat dinner late...they would run low on food. So eat earlier to avoid the crowd and get dessert.

Ocean front room and the property was nice and quiet.
Food was just okay but i only ate at the pool bar. Beaches in San jose are very pretty but dangerous to swim in.

Friendly staff and other people visiting, right on the beach, with a nice pool and hot tub. Relaxing and comfortable, excellent views from the ocean view rooms and the pool. Delicious breakfast and plentiful, free drinking water jugs to fill your water bottle. No extra fees to park a car, easy to get to, and easy to get around town. Also plenty of food and bars within walking distance.
Seemed like it needed some upgrades. Definitely not a super fancy place, so if that is what you are looking for, you probably want to go to another place. But this was smaller, more personal, and less expensive. I thought it was a great deal!

The room was very comfortable especially the bed, which is always much appreciated. The bathroom had everything I needed. From an eco point of view I really appreciated the water dispensers to fill up water bottles in an effort to reduce plastic waste. The hotel was easy to find. The beach location was beautiful and the hotel next door had one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life (Called Nido - a sushi restaurant).
I informed the hotel 6 months prior to my stay that i was vegan and had booked all inclusive and i was told it wouldn't be a problem. On arrival my lunch was literally a bowl of iceberg lettuce. In the evening the chef told me that he couldn't cater to me at all. So if you have any sort of food intolerances or are veggie/ vegan do not book all inclusive. Getting a refund of the all inclusive part of my stay was not easy and i had to speak to multiple people before i was eventually refunded. Not exactly the relaxing stay i was hoping for.
If you could eat at the restaurants ok I was amazed at the lack of options. there was a beach café for lunch and the main restaurant for dinner which was a small buffet style restaurant. If you are used to going to all inclusive with 4 or 5 restaurants on site I would avoid this.
The hotel was about a 25 minute walk from downtown. While it was ok i think there are better hotels that are closer to downtown and still on the beach.

Great location, lovely people and quiet. Even though it is a very small, older and slightly outdated hotel amongst other larger, modern ones - it has a certain charm. Some improvements had been made to our room...with paint and new tile in the bathroom. The staff were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. The grounds and hotel were kept very clean and tidy. What food options, although limited to the one restaurant and poolside taco bar, was fresh and well prepared. We were not all inclusive, so only ate in their restaurant once at breakfast, but during the day the beach restaurant was frequently used. It was refreshing to see cold water coolers with bottled water on each level of the hotel and at each end by the stairs down. It was so nice to 1) not have to pay for water, and 2) not have to use plastic bottles. I had never seen that before and was very impressed.
We had a room on the 2nd floor that was close to other rooms that were getting a bathroom reno - it sounded like they were removing old tile, and we heard that noise 6 days a week from 9am to 6pm. You would think the price of our room would reflect this inconvenience, but it did not.

Staff were very engaged. Drinks were very good. Beach snack bar offered a great lunch menu.
Facilities (especially the pool) were run down and not maintained. Only one restaurant and food was lacking in both flavor and variety. No beer or pop in the room fridge. Also, only two receptacles in the room (none by the bed).

Room was ready.
Staff accommodated our request for a room change.
Breakfast was good.
Beach was clean and nice.
The room we were assigned was 2 double beds, while we had requested a king bed.
When we requested a change we were given a king bed but nothing was said that the rooms across the hall were being renovated. The first night, renovation went on until after 11:00pm. When I complained the next morning the desk said they were to stop any work at 7:00pm. The shower drain was partially plugged and overflowed the thread hold once.
I not sure why rooms were being booked in this building when a considerable amount was being renovated. In fact the fact that renovations were taking place should have been disclosed when we booked the room.

We chose this hotel because we wanted a simple value place to say with an included authentic breakfast. The other reviewers were correct and our expectations were met very well. The facilities are fairly basic, but we loved the small feel, the very caring and friendly staff, and the easy access to walk to restaurants and artisan shops. The breakfast buffet had some nice options including premade dishes, a custom omelet bar, freshly made tortillas, and an abundance of fresh fruits. We also liked the calmer and more laid-back feel of San Jose del Cabo in contrast to Cabo San Lucas. We also LOVED the Thursday night Art Walk in downtown San Jose -- do not miss this festival of art and food and fun!
The walls are quite thin, and we could hear neighbors talking at night, but I think this was more of a guest issue than a hotel issue. The hotel has signs posted in the hallways asking for quiet. The shower drain was not keeping up with the water flow, so the bathroom floor got all wet, but we discovered we could turn down the water pressure and this problem was alleviated.
