Chalets overlooking the beach.
Staff especially Sanbeth was super helpful & did his best to help us.
Beautiful shallow sea, with Buva ferry stop.
Facilities very limited, as a vegetarian/vegan they struggled to provide rice & vegetables for me. Unable to stay due to the lack of food options.
Property had private parties going on with loud speakers on the beach that went on till after midnight, dirty dishes left on the tables & still there in the morning.
Beach was very messy with rubbish everywhere, such a shame as could have been lovely. Might have been made worse by the recent weather but some had definitely been there a while.
Room was a small chalet with cubicle bathroom, no hot water & light didn’t work & bench was broken. Depending on chalet location limited WiFi

The staff was lovely and helpful. They arranged a reasonably priced private boat tour for me. When the waves were too high on the day of my departure, they helped me rearrange my transfers and made everything the nature gods allowed for work marvelously. The bedroom was nice and I loved the outdoorsy jungle-vibe of the bathroom. The restaurant is quite decent and reasonably priced for a beach resort. The beach is simply amazing. They’ve got plenty of recliners. Coniferous trees create shade. The water is shallow and warm. The sand is soft and bright.
The bathroom and the amenities were rather basic for the price. The room smelled a bit moldy. My toilet didn’t have a ring. There was only cold water in my bungalow. The pavements in the bungalow park were poorly maintained. The WiFi in the bungalow was pretty much nonexistent. Same for mobile connectivity, only EDGE.

Location, location! The beach was immediately in front of the bungalow and the water temperature perfect for swimming. Here you are protected from the devopment occuring elsewhere on the island. Saracen Bay, Lazy Beach, Sunset Beach and the lighthouse were all in hiking distance, or you could hire a boat to Saracen and walk from there. The staff were friendly, and overall we felt it was good value for the price.
First, there are no cushioned seats or lounges to hang out in, which detracts a bit from a lazy day in and out of the water. It was inconsistent whether or not we received water for the room everyday, and the room was not cleaned very often. It was disappointing to find out that there were no free shuttles to Saracen (which was advertised when we reserved through booking.com, and part of the reason we chose Sandy Beach). Finally, large groups came in for a night or two of partying, and were sometimes quite loud.

This resort is absolutely fine for a ‘no frills’ stay in a quiet location, on a beautiful beach with clear, turquoise water. The staff are friendly and helpful and the accommodation (cabins and the wooden bungalows) if basic, is clean and comfortable enough, with air-con.
Sandy Beach resort, and the island as a whole, are clearly still in post-pandemic recovery mode and the facilities are in need of some TLC. There are no padded cushions for the wooden sun-beds on the beach, only plastic chairs to sit in on the verandas. No hammocks or swings. Food is very limited - not much at all for vegans - and the mini-mart is low on stock. You can eat at the two other resorts along the beach who have broader menus.

Location
it is absolutely beautiful and the staff in the all hotels and the chap who runs a bar up the hill take very good care of the beach to ensure it’s clean. it’s much quieter and more sandy than some of the other beaches we went to and whilst you can see Sihanoukville on a very clear night there are only three small hotels so it feels very much like a secluded island paradise.
The buva sea ferry if weather is good drops you right off at Sandy beach or a short walk away if the weather is too windy for Sandy Beach pier. Let them know ahead of time what ferry you’ll be on and someone will come to meet you. Same for checking out, they helped us arrange the ferry back to the mainland.
They renovating some of them so there may be some noise but it wasn’t too noticeable for us. There is a minimart next door which was handy for essentials but would suggested stocking up on these prior to coming as the island is more expensive. it is hard to get to other parts of the island unless you want to walk for an hour to Saracen Bay or do the scheduled tour the hotel offer. However, the guy who owns the bar a 2 minute walk away has started offering a taxi boat of sorts which would definitely positively influence whether we’d stay on this beach again.
The Bungalows
we stayed in one of the beachfront ones and the beds are very comfy, decent size and there are is international plug sockets and a hairdryer which is a nice bonus. The bathroom is more outdoorsy but we liked it and we appreciated the cooler shower (we were aware they were cold showers when we booked) after a hot day (and it is always hot in Cambodia!). They have a decent bit of decking out the front with two chairs and table which are nice to sit at in the morning and in the evening.
it isn’t what we didn’t like, but just a few things to bear in mind / that could be improved as we would come to this beach again!
- The sun beds do not have cushions which means after a long period of sunbathing, you end up aching. The sun beds are wooden. it would be nice to get some cushions for them!
- There isn’t a lot of atmosphere, some quiet music in the bar/reception area would help. but we were the only ones here at times so appreciate atmosphere would be hard!
- I think if there were more people staying they’d do more activities but unless you wanted to do the tour, that was it. We rented paddle boards and snorkelling gear from Archipelago Tours instead.
- if you want a coffee you have to go to the mini mart or the staff will have to go to the mini mart and get it for you.
- staff at times seemed disinterested. Granted there was a language barrier and we should have practised a few more basic Khmer phrases. There appeared to be a reliance on certain staff as their English was good so if the others didn’t understand you they went back to their phones. It would have been nice whilst we were on the beach (and it was just us) to maybe offer a beer or a drink.
We can’t comment on the food as we went to the bar up the hill every night (highly recommend!) and we went to Tube Resort next door at lunch due to their more lively atmosphere and just being closer to our bungalow. Covid seems to have had a negative impact on the island in general and things are in the process of being repaired.
We would stay again and hope the comments don’t dissuade people from booking to come as the beach is lovely and quiet and we much preferred it to Saracen Bay for a few nights and the bar up the hill is a great addition and hub of info.

Room view of the ocean
Where do I even start. This place is overpriced for what it offers. When we arrived, the whole beach was full of trash (garbage) that had been washed to shore from the ocean. After checking in, the staff quickly cleaned the beach and it was like night and day. We were able to enjoy the beach while it was clean. After waking up in the morning, we couldn't believe our eyes the amount of trash that we saw again on the beach. The staff were very apologetic (even though it is not their fault). They stated that they clean the beach 5 times a day. No wonder, it seemed like we were the only guests there at this particular resort.
We ended up ending our stay sooner and another hustle was trying to get out of this side of the island to the other side. No one wanted to give us the correct information on what boat can get us there. We we told our only option was getting a private boat which would cost us $100 for a 15 mins ride. After making the decision to leave the island completely, we found out we could have been easily been dropped off by the boat that took us back to the city.
Secondly, they need they do a better job of adding more pictures to accurately depict the the bathroom. It is very small and the shower is literally next to the toilet.

I loved that it was quite and remotely. The sea was just in front of my challet and I had a full beach for myself. The water is clean, no rocks perfect for swimming at any time. Food was good and affordable and the all staff it is very attentive to satisfy all the needs. I was attended all the time with a smile and friendly staff that offered all their support on all my inquiries.
The wifi connection is good to even work remotelly as I did.
Challet was nice and clean. No hot water as they also stipulate in the description, but it is not freezing cold either. It was warmish. For it was just fine.
My overall experience it was that I had a week in paradise.
No complains, for me it was just sufficient. Maybe there is no variety on terms of other places to eat and socialise, but with a small boat ride you can get to Saracen bay capital of the island to diversificate. But the hotel restaurant has few good dishes to explore. I didn’t get bored in a week of their food ☺️

The staff really friendly and always smiling. The lady in front desk ( Kim ) she always helpful and try to give us what we need.food was great and price always acceptable.
we wish they should have more things like Bar and something should be full set up in the room . and they should set up time for guests who went there and play music for party because sometimes they were played till late night and we can’t sleep .
but anyway thank you for give us the best holiday and we will definitely come back again.

Nothing. Run down place with a dirty beach.
Humid dirty bungalows. The water was running from the walls. You are baically a prisoner since you cannot go to other places on the island by yourself. 80$ to take a boat to the village. You can rent a 20y old kayak for 10$/hour. Beachfront is clean. Once you go left or right, the garbage is piled up. You are forced to eat in one of the resorts. Horrible food for top dollar. Stay away.

It’s on front of the beach. I think that the only positive thing.
The place in general is dirty. You could find a lot of trash left by previous clients. The toilet follows an interesting “beach-like” style with sand and rocks instead of floor and the water just drains in the sand. I think that was cool. BUT they don’t clean it! the sand was full of plastic things dropped by previous customers, even a tooth brush! Disgusting!
The WC was broken.

it could be a really nice place, but due to poor up keep and cleanliness I wouldn’t recommend it. The surroundings and beaches are full of litter so it’s not a nice environment to be in.

- good location, bungalows basically on beach
- AC worked
- pick-up from pier on Koh Rong Sanloem worked
Throughout our stay we felt more like an inconvenience than welcome guests. Half the menu isn’t available and the remainder is close to inedible. If you eat here, go for the fruit salad or vegetable plate! Facilities are worn down and the reviews from 1+ years ago do not reflect the status and condition of the hotel currently.
The offer we received at the hotel didn’t coincide with the initial message sent through booking.com. For example, the only thing included was the pick-up by boat and we had to argue that the return is also included. There were no activities on offer. People also arrived and plaid loud music and sang karaoke right in front of our bungalow late in the night. When I walked out to ask them to turn it down, they did, but the hotel staff laughed at us.
Additionally, we were the only foreign people on the beach and people would not stop STARING we were two girls on the trip and felt incredibly uncomfortable.
The toilet seat in the bungalow was broken, the door didn’t close properly and there were no mosquito nets so we had mosquitos in the bungalow despite the AC.
The staff at the bungalows did not care for the quality of our stay nor spoke English or made an effort to communicate issues with us.
It was an uncomfortable stay at best and I would not return here.

The resort manager was very helpful and friendly. He took care of everything as we requested. The room is very nice and comfortable and with the perfect beach front view. The location of the resort is 2 mins walk from the pier which is very convenient.

Waking up to the sea practically lapping at your door cant really be beaten! If you have to be on the go all day then this place might kill you. The beach was absolutely perfect for me - spotlessly clean, bluest blue warm water, a sunbed, some shade and plenty of quiet and social distancing! I loved the pod, mainly because of the aircon and being able to keep out any unwanted critters. But this place is really all about location, location, location. I initially booked for a week, then added 3 extra nights, and would have happily stayed longer if that had been at all possible.
The Sandy Beach restaurant was closed for renovation during my stay so the dining options were a bit more limited than they would normally be, although there were still two other places to get really nice meals. As you access the island by boat you might want to think about anti-seasickness tablets as the transfers can be a bit rough if the sea is slightly choppy, even on the bigger ferries.
