Great house, well stocked, excellent location for a family with kids
4.0
There is plenty of space to spread out. It was good that we had the space for 2 married daughters , 2 grandkids, 1 adult son, and my husband and I. I can’t do stairs very well, and our daughter was pregnant, so we put she and her husband in the upstairs master bedroom. My husband and I slept in the other upstairs bedroom that had a day bed and a double bed. It wasn’t the most comfortable, but at least we didn’t have to do the stairs. We did have a bathroom off that guest room, so that made it easier.
There were plenty of supplies in the kitchen, however, you may want to bring 1 of your favorite frying pans and a spatula. The pans that are there are useable, just very worn from many uses. The only spatulas were somewhat small and hard to get under a fried egg for breakfast.
The view is peaceful. We did see deer (when the squirrels didn’t run off with the corn we set out). Our son saw a bear one morning, but we missed it!
There is much to do at the house and the surrounding facilities. Our grandkids loved the lake and the sandy beach! We thought the 4th of July fireworks were even better at this facility than they were at the “downtown” Lake Lure event last year.
Our hostess was quick to respond (when we could get our devices to work—for some reason our phones had difficulty getting a connection for texting/calling. The internet worked fine for us—we just didn’t have the best cellphone service for a mountainous area.
Some items in the house could use updating or repairs.

This home is great for our family, lots of room, love watching the deer come to eat, great neighborhood

The house is very clean and spacious! The outside is very deceiving! Great coffee bar, well appointed kitchen, nice size bedrooms (the master is incredible!). Plenty or indoor and outdoor living space! 2 living rooms, a pool/ping pong table, foosball, games, puzzles, jacuzzi, and fire pit! We enjoyed every part of it! We had passes for the club pool but didn’t use them, but the family took the kids to the playground beach area and played.
Chimney Rock is a short drive away and we all went to the brewery and had food and walked around. Several went to the top of Chimney Rock.
Ate one dinner at the Lake House. It was good and a great location.
Grocery store is about 10-15 minutes away. We actually used Instacart for a supply delivery.
Great family time!

The house was large and had plenty of space for our family get together of 11. Although there weren't any views from the house (Summer time), we were very pleased with the downstairs area. There was something for everyone to do and the family had a ton of laughs and made many memories together.
The hot tub was a hit, as was the kitchenette downstairs (that was a plus because going up and down the stairs a hundred times to get to the main kitchen would have been a nightmare lol). Master bedroom upstairs was beaitiful and the kitchen was a dream. Plenty of eating space. We had dinner in a different area each night. Host was quick to reply for any questions and the home is very close to the resort amenities and restaurants.
We stayed for 3 nights and had plenty of TP, PT, trash bags, soap, and laundry and dishwasher detergent.
I did find it annoying that we had to show our memeber cards at the resort entrance to get a car pass for the stay (which should be sufficient for accessing places once inside), and then still had to show the member card to enter any area of the facility; like the pools and the beach area. Even to walk from the pool to the beach lake area, you had to show your card upon each entry. So that was a lot to keep up with, given how many were in our crew and we were toting towels and floats and toys and beach chairs. So keep that in mind and plan a way to keep up with them all; especially if members of your party are coming and going at different times.

My family enjoyed the stay at this comfortable and cheerful home. All sorts of small touches, such as the coffee bar, sticks for s’mores and a kitchen that had so many tools, appliances, and cookware. The owner was very responsive and helpful. We loved being able to access the resort pool and amenities. We loved having an outdoor table for dinner large enough for all us to enjoy dinner together with the sounds of tree frogs under the sky. The downstairs game room was enjoyed by the younger family members. To use the entire house, family members need to be able to be mobile enough to navigate stairs, but the family members who had mobility issues enjoyed the large kitchen, deck and large family room (with an occasional assisted visit to the downstairs area-lots of stairs). We all loved this place, made many happy memories here and my niece told me that this place is her favorite of all places we have stayed for our summer get togethers through the years. The outdoor fire pit and hot tub made summer evenings even more relaxing. Wonderful place and wonderful host!

This house had everything we needed to enjoy our annual family reunion! There was plenty of space for our family of 11, and lots of local recreational activities. Our group made use of the firepit, pool membership and lake access, as well as the nearby golf course and hiking trails. Kudos to the homeowner!

The house is outstanding!!! It has the following that we enjoyed: 1) plenty of beds, 2) seating for a large gathering in each of the family rooms, 3) near all the Rumbling Bald Resort amenities and 4) household entertainment. Comes with a solid board game selection, pool table, ping pong, foose ball, tv streaming, fire pit, beach accessories/toys and grill. The owner under charges for what she provides!

The property owner was really wonderful at communicating. Although it rained all week, we had plenty to do with the foosball table and pool table as well as the hot tub. It's a large house with a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of places to sit and relax. It was also really wonderful having access to the nearby resort, which has a great pool, beach at the lake, and tennis and pickleball courts. Overall, good experience!

This was a family get-away with grandparents, adult children and grandkids. Location was perfect- quiet and safe neighborhood, close to mountains with trails, waterfalls, caves and of course cute shops in the villages. When it rained there was a game of pool, ping pong and a large family room for those waiting their turn to play to join in with board games. The nearby resort had putt putt, tennis, etc. and in indoor pool. If it had been warmer we would have been on the lake. The kitchen is roomy and well equipped. We all had a wonderful time and highly recommend this home.

This property is great. Could not believe how well stocked the kitchen was we have never been in a rental with that many appliances. Only thing that could of been better is hot tub it did not keep heat well.
We had a great week at this home beds were extremely comfortable and the game
Room kept kids busy all the time. Thank you!

The house is well laid out and the sleeping arrangements were great for our 6 grandchildren aged 10 - 15 and 4 young-at-heart grandparents. The house was well-maintained and the on-line pictures matched our experiences. The only complaint was the distance from Asheville. Though Lake Lure is beautiful, mid-December doesn't offer very many outdoor options for preteens and teens and the trip from Asheville is very curvy and hilly with lots of turns and takes longer than anticipated. Having said this, we would highly recommend a spring/fall/summer stay at Dancing Bear focusing on all that Lake Lure has to offer, including a visit to Chimney Rock and other close communities.

This house was amazing! We had 6 adults and 7 kids ages 7 month to 15 years and it felt very spacious! The second fridge helped a lot with the obnoxious amount of food we brought! The kids LOVED the fusbol and the pool/ ping pong table. We also enjoyed the indoor pool, the putt put, and the tennis/ pickle ball courts! My only advice would be check the hot tub well before you want to get it an make sure it isn’t on sleep mode so it will be warm enough to get in. I would highly recommend staying here!

This property is just about perfect. Our extended family of 10 stayed here, with adults and teens. The kids had the entire downstairs to themselves, which was great. They loved the games and hot tub, and the swing chairs on the back porch.
The kitchen was so well-stocked, it had every appliance we needed and more. Location is great - easy to get to hikes, winery, and cute little towns. We loved it!

My family & I stayed at Dancing Bear for my daughter’s wedding. It is a beautiful home! Great location, loved the closeness to Rumbling Bald Resort, where the wedding was held. Lake Lure is a beautiful place to visit, especially when the leaves are changing colors. The house was equipped with any thing possible that you may need! Even had leaf blowers in the garage that my nephew & brother used to blow off the driveway, steps, and back decks! Lots of entertainment available also- from pool table, hot tub, board games, books, and tvs in every room with Hulu & all other channels plus DVDs. Great place, well worth it!!

We enjoyed our stay. Beautiful area with the lake and the mountains. We had a cute little welcome package that included everything to make s'mores as well as some locally made jam and BBQ sauce. Very close to the lodge also which had swimming, kayaking, putt putt golf and other amenities.

We had our yearly gathering in celebration of Bruce Springsteen’s birthday at Dancing Bear Retreat. It was a perfect location, had the most well equipped kitchen and we enjoyed fun amenities at the resort. Highly recommend this house for family and friends! The owner was fabulous to communicate with and quickly responded to any questions. You will love this place as much as we did and we hope to return in the future.

We were in Lake Lure to celebrate my retirement. Although the house was larger than we needed for the number in our party, I had been looking for a space where everyone could have a nice bedroom. Dancing Bears delivered that and much more! The house was very well equipped with plenty of space for all. We enjoyed the nice touches of the welcome gift and the flavoring syrup for coffee. The kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed the passes to the resort and played multiple games of mini golf and corn hole. The pool was a treat on a hot day. Kim was very responsive and we would love to stay at her home again.

Lake Week
Our family has been going to different lakes each summer for several years. This is the first time we have not stayed directly on the lake. We had to drive to the resort which was very close. We enjoyed the house we stayed in. It was very roomy and comfortable for all. Overall it was a great time had by all.

Annual family get away
Two families of five easily shared this large house approximately 1 mi from Lake Lure. The amenities, which included the resort, were wonderful. Recommend renting a pontoon boat.
Kids stayed downstairs where there are plenty of beds and entertainment. The two adult couples stayed upstairs, away from the noise!

Amazing Home
We really enjoyed this home. There was so much to do at the home we didn’t even get to utilize it all. We played pool, the kids played some of the board games, and my husband and I enjoyed the hot tub. Kitchen had all the things we needed. My 5 year old daughter actually cried when we left because she wanted to buy the house lol. The owner was always responsive and very nice. They also left us a very sweet welcome basket. We hope to go to this home again.

Review for Dancing Bear Mountain Home
The home has a well equipped kitchen. The master suite is very nice. The downstairs has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and a great space families to gather to watch TV, play games and play pool. There is a nice kitchenette in this area. Upstais with awesome master suite and bedroom with full bath. Home well stocked with linen, kitchen items, and games for all ages.
Upon our arrival there was a nice welcome package. The package contained a card and cell phone number for the owner . We called this number upon arrival as the sink in the downstairs kitchenette was not draining. The owner responded immediately, was already aware of the problem and was working on it. As we unpacked later in the evenning, we noticed that there was a large amount of dust in the rooms. especially under beds. Rugs in bedrooms rooms had not been cleaned. We tried to vacuum them, but the vacuum cleaner did not have adequate suction. We ended up sweeping the rugs. We pulled out the trundle bed in one of the bedrooms and a cookie was laying on the bed. The floor underneath the bed was covered in dust. Kitchen was filthy. Only mop we could find was too dirty to use. Tuesday morning family started to use the hot tub. The water was cold. We tried resetting the breaker. We sent a text to the number that we had used Sunday night. We sent texts and called the number throughout the rest of the day. Wednesday, we went throught the VRBO site and sent a message. The owner responded that afternoon from a different cell phone number. We returned the call on that number and got the owner immediately. W told her that the hot tub was not working and mentioned that there were cleanliness issues. The owners were in Amsterdam preparing to broad a cruise. The family members that had tried the breaker box etc were not at the house, the owner talked me through reseting the cord to the Hot tub. It still did not work. Owner said that she would call a repairman and suggested that we use the hot tub at the resort. Repairmen came the next morning and reparied the hot tub. Water did not heat up enought to use the tub until Friday, the last day we were there. Two family members ended up sick with the one with allergies/asthma leaving the vacation early.
I have contacted the owner. She is still out of the country and will contact me when she returns.

Lake Lure Stay
In the front yard, you are in a neighborhood, in the backyard you are in a wooded paradise. The extraordinary amount of indoor space and two large living rooms were spectacular. Also having access to the garage was awesome. Really, really well stocked kitchen too. Also access to the beach resort was great!
