Second time staying here--and still wonderful!
My family and I enjoyed the Stonewall Lodge so much last summer that we booked it again this summer for a longer stay. This property is so unique--it's like living in your own private park. This log lodge looks rustic on the outside but has many luxury touches that make it so comfortable and special. We love it!

Beyond Blissful
We have stayed in many vacation rentals--this one was the most wonderful of all. The lodge and property are splendid--it was like being at a luxurious summer camp for adults. The rustic feel of the log construction was balanced with all the luxuries of home (nice bathrooms, comfortable beds, big kitchen, etc.). I loved that there were interesting things (art, collected treasures, etc.) throughout the house vs. the stripped down sterility of so many rentals. It was heartening to be trusted by the owners that we would care for their home as we would our own.
This was the perfect place to reunite with family after 18 months apart due to the pandemic. I would come back for another stay in a heartbeat. Thank you for offering your special lodge to those of us looking for a unique experience. With gratitude, Dana & family

Family Getaway
Stonewall Lodge was great place for our family to connect and relax together for a few days. We enjoyed the hot tub, cooking (excellent kitchen!), SONOS, reading and the comfortable beds. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog with us, as he’s a family member, too! The skiers went to Killington one day and we did a couple of hikes. Other than that, there was no reason to leave!

Enjoyed our week away from it all in Vermont
Property was clean inside and overall very nice. Few small things were broken (DVD player and one of the stove knobs but nothing major. Only complaint is that the grass never got cit and was really long by end of week which prevented us from really using the yard.
Very peaceful place and we enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking up at stars. If you are looking to get away this is a great property. Location means you need to drive everywhere and surrounding towns are small with not much. Woodstock is about 25 minute away however.

Perfect spot to watch the Perseids!
This property was as beautiful as in the pics! The landscape was so pretty. The different outdoor areas to hang out were awesome. We especially loved drinking wine in the hot tub watching the meteor shower at night. It was a perfect vacation. John and John were quickly responsive to address any questions we had. We may have to make this an annual visit! - The Browns :)

Unsatisfactory; Booked for Two Weeks; Left after Two Nights!
This is an unclean and rustic cabin that is poorly set up for guests. The limited dresser and closet space is largely strewn about with owner's personal items and clothing; must live out of a suitcase (difficult for more than a night or two) or pile clothes on a "not-so-clean" floor. The windows were quite drafty, making it difficult to be comfortable in the cold Vermont weather. The bathrooms were not fully cleaned; used q-tips and toilet tissue to be found; body hair and used soap in the showers; uncleaned toilets. The kitchen's equipped with a large commercial style stove but the owner prohibits cooking of meats on it's grill top; too bad we're not vegan. The gas grill was buried in snow, not a good winter cooking option. The cabinets were old and dirty inside, stocked with limited basics, many of these dishes and cutlery put away unclean, needing soaking and washing before use. The only wine or cocktail glasses in the house were marked "family heirlooms - do not touch".The refrigerator was not clean but still contained lots of partially used foods, some left unwrapped, unsanitary and bordering on unsafe. The hot tub not shoveled out and not functioning. Owner's instructions were to take garbage to a dump or transfer station; who knows where that would be but no specifics were given. Previous tenant's garbage was left open in the garage (garbage cans are labeled "kindling wood storage") also unsanitary; we left ours there too but at least tied it up tight. Very icy walk and drive (it is Vermont) but no salt or sand to remedy the situation. Instructions prohibit use of tools like a snow shovel. No apology, no refund. Owner's explanation: "it may be that you are used to more posh accommodations and amenities offered in other geographical regions".

Beautiful space and location
The Stonewall Lodge is set in a lovely location, on a hill, nestled on the side of a mountain. The views are gorgeous and the space is not only eclectic but comfortable; it was very ideal for a quiet, "off the grid" getaway. The downside was an issue with cleanliness, which was addressed with owner, who graciously received the feedback and said that they planned to informed the cleaners.

Home for family reunion
We were here for Vermont's "stick season" and really enjoyed our stay in this property. The owners were helpful and the house easily accommodated our party of 4 adults and a child. The kitchen was especially well stocked and easy to use. One note is we had intended to give the master bedroom loft to my father but the spiral staircase was too steep for him to manage comfortably.

Perfect Summer Weekend
Upon arrival we immediately felt the tranquility of being immersed in nature yet the comfort and luxury of a resort stay. The property is gorgeous. The deck, porches, and trellis provided summer relaxation. Inside the layout is spacious and very well kept. If you enjoy cooking the state of the art kitchen will have you feeling at home. We enjoyed our time on the property and swimming in nearby Silver Lake.
We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who could not have been more friendly, helpful, and accommodating.
I strongly recommend this property to anyone interested and I plan on returning soon.

We had a delightful getaway in the Green Mountains
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Stonewall Lodge. We could not have asked for a more perfect place to be while attending our event in Tunbridge. Beautiful accommodations, quiet and the hot tub at night under the stars was spectacular. John made our stay memorable with his ease of booking and arrangements. Thank you for helping to make our long weekend so relaxing.

Best Vacation Ever
Six friends were looking for a cozy winter getaway in a plush but comfortable setting. We chose this property after an extensive search because the pictures showed exactly the feel, furnishings, and luxury we were hoping for. The owner was courteous and efficient from the start, and provided lots of details ahead of time. The photos are lovely, but did not even begin to prepare us for the gorgeous home we found upon our arrival.
The house very private, located at the top of a winding hill after a quiet drive through a picturesque little town. It has an expansive yard (2 feet of snow during our stay!) and wooded area all around the property. We all commented on how well appointed the home was -- the owner certainly wasn't looking to cut any corners when furnishing and stocking Stonewall Lodge. We could have easily stayed another week and not felt cramped or lacking.
The house was impeccably clean and perfectly decorated. The outdoor space is amazing, with large porches and a big back patio complete with hot tub. The group enjoyed every night there after skiing, soaking in the the hot bubbles and surrounded by falling snow. Our favorite memory of all was the evening that everyone chipped in to put together a home cooked meal. Even though there were six of us working in the kitchen, there was more than enough space to move around and lounge. We laughed and relaxed at the large dining room table with panoramic views of the snow falling and a fireplace crackling beside us, and we felt like we were at home.
Staying at Stonewall Lodge was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip.

Stonewall Lodge
The Stonewall Lodge was a beautiful place to stay! It was very clean; well maintained and decorated exquisitely. We are very particular about the places we stay and this house did not disappoint!
We stayed there with another couple before Christmas and had a lovely visit.
The owner was very helpful and easy to reach with any questions. Nearby Woodstock, VT is a quaint town with lovely shops and restaurants and a very nice farmers market. Make sure you visit the Barnard general store-delicious lunches and breakfasts at bargain prices.
I would highly recommend this property to friends and other guests!

Very Merry Christmas!
From the moment that my family and I arrived, we felt like we were living in a movie set.
Scene: Long Circular driveway leading up the hill to picturesque lodge. Oohs and aahs echo through car.
Scene: Open door into perfectly clean, perfectly decorated space. Furnishings are luxurious and tasteful. My sister comments that it is EXACTLY her taste--down to the upright piano that she enjoyed playing during our stay. Fireplace in living room sets the mood nicely for cozy gatherings or watching movies.
Scene: Mother with two adult daughters, their husbands, and one grandchild (and one grand-dog) gathered around the island in the gourmet kitchen, drinking wine and laughing together. Christmas goose roasting in the oven. Joy to the world.
OK, enough. But seriously, everything about Stonewall truly was perfect. My 3 yr old niece was ecstatic about her first sledding experience down the hill and driveway. We enjoyed the nicely sized hot tub and we ESPECIALLY enjoyed the kitchen. My husband and I love to cook, so we really appreciated the workspace, two sinks and the professional stove.
The owner was very nice and professional, and we felt very taken care of throughout the rental experience. We definitely hope to make a return trip and would recommend it to friends (or strangers).

Great Vacation
My family and I stayed there for our Winter Break in February. My three boys, all under 12, loved sledding in the yard and exploring outside. The hot tub was a major plus for everyone after a long day out in the cold. What a great house and the owner couldn't be nicer! Can't wait to go again.
