OVERVIEW
This delightful end-terrace cottage is located in the heart of the old smuggling village of Cawsand in the forgotten far South East corner of Cornwall.
This cottage offers comfort and luxury throughout, so if you are looking for a beautifully-furnished character cottage, right next to the beach, in an idyllic small village location, then this cosy yet most spacious cottage will certainly fit the bill.
As you enter into the cottage you immediately appreciate the quality, pass through the comfortable sitting room with a woodburner, ideal for those cooler evenings and winter breaks, to the splendid well-equipped kitchen and dining area.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin bedroom, and on the second floor is the master bedroom benefiting from en-suite facilities.
A delightful enclosed garden is at the rear of the cottage and is a wonderful place to relax peacefully at the end of the day.
Directly opposite the cottage is the village shop offering you all your everyday needs, as well as local homemade food, and takeaways. To the right of the cottage is the Cross Keys Inn, offering a selection of local ales and with a reputation for good food.
Further afield but only two miles is Whitsand Bay, a beautiful five mile stretch of golden sand, a favourite with beach lovers and dogs alike!
The historic Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park is also very close by and is well worth a visit; set in 865 acres of magnificent grounds of Grade l listed gardens and many listed structures, it is worth going for the spectacular views alone.
Should you wish to visit Plymouth, a ferry in-season will take you from the beach directly to Plymouth's Barbican.

LOCAL AREA
The twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with narrow streets winding between pastel-coloured cottages, lie on the Rame Peninsula just 5 miles from Plymouth, but because the high ground of Mount Edgcumbe lies between, you are not aware of being near a large city. Instead, you can relax in the peace and quiet of village life, and look out over Plymouth Sound which offers calm waters ideal for watersports, fishing and bathing. Take a walk south along the coastal path to Penlee Point for the glorious views of Rame Head, towering above the sea, or, a walk north along the coast will take you to Mount Edgcumbe Park with fabulous views of Plymouth Sound. From Cawsand, take a ferry trip to Plymouth and visit the Aquarium, the historic Barbican or enjoy a spot of retail therapy. Just a mile west of Cawsand lies Whitsand Bay, with 4 miles of sandy beach and dramatic cliffs. You really are spoilt for choice in this ‘secret hideaway’.
Most beaches are dog friendly (Cawsand restrictions in peak season) and the coastal path is perfect for a good walk.
Local highlights:
Shop in the square- classic fish and chips and a lot more literally opposite the beach cottage
The Cross Keys Inn - traditional Cornish inn right in the square
Cornwall coastal path - walkers paradise that stretches all around the Rame peninsula, with fabulous views and clifftop paths
Kayaking around Cawsand beach and up the coast to Penlee Point
The Old Bakery, Cawsand - quality fresh food and local cafe, who also do sour dough baking classes
Devonport Inn, Kingsand - delicious gourmet food in a gastro pub overlooking the sea at Kingsand
Clifftop Cafe - fuel up on a great breakfast ready to explore the expanse of surfing beach at Whitsand Bay or reward yourself with lunch on your return!
Polhawn Fort - idylic wedding venue
Mount Edgcumbe house & grounds - a great family day out
The Canteen cafe at Maker - fab chef from River Cottage cafe next to the intriguing local Somerville art gallery

3 night weekend stay for 3 friends. Lovely cottage in great location, would recommend. Be aware no parking at the property but some free on road parking and car park a short walk away with weekly parking fee of £9 . We went at a quiet time of year so no problem finding a space .
Mix up with door code on arrival but resolved on contacting owner. Never did resolve the lack of hot water from the tap though, just a quirk and easily dealt with by boiling a kettle of water as and when needed . Lovely garden and decking area with lovely furniture set that catches the morning sun. Not sure if it has a sea view as bordering property currently has scaffolding in place .
Used The Cove take away across the road from the The Bay cafe on the. Beach front and the Cross Keys pub across the square and would recommend all 3 . Local spar not far away essentials . All friendly and very welcoming . Property is a few steps away from the beach. Sea glass and shell collectors paradise . Great area for walking with immediate access to the South West coast path, and lovely footpaths inland. Mount Edgecumb estate within walking distance . Would also recommend The Mount Edgecumb pub in Cremyll . Kitchen being renovated on our visit so only had drinks but nice interior , seating inside and out and again a very friendly welcome.

Gorgeous cottage
The location of the cottage is perfect; the photos don’t do it justice; wonderful surprise to find the deck up the (steep) steps to the garden with comfortable garden furniture. We did great coastal walks in both directions. Overall a delightful village to discover with great food at the Davenport Inn and The Canteen- both are a must! We will be back.

Perfect for a family getaway
We had an absolutely wonderful time. The owner was so helpful with a minor issue that cropped up, she really made things so smooth for us. Also - the garden is PERFECT for watching the Plymouth fireworks, an unexpected bonus to watch them from our “own” garden.

Bottlebrush Cottage Review
Overall, the property was very clean and well-equipped. However, the kitchen was not as spacious as we were expecting and the steps to the garden were very steep too.

Amazing location
Imagine just stepping out of your front door and almost be on the beach, with a pub and shop just as near!
Well equipped house and also comfortable. Locals mainly welcoming as long as you keep your distance.
