About this chalet rental
Chalet Clos is an enviable location - 8 minutes by car into Samoens but high enough above the village to give you a real feel of being in the mountains. The chalet is ideal for winter, spring and summer holidays.
The gardens surrounding the chalet are large and sunny. In front of the chalet there is a wild flower meadow and beyond stunning views of the Grand Massif. Behind the chalet is another meadow and un-interrupted views up to Col de Joux Plane.
On winter evenings there is nothing better than lighting a large log fire in the lounge (logs provided) and watching a film - a range of DVD's are available.
The house was originally converted from an upland barn and in the twin bedroom, the original wooden beams are exposed.
Samoens is a small, historic, thriving French market town and summer and winter sports resort in the Grand Massif Alpine area. Samoens is the only ski resort to be also listed a town of historical and architectural interest. Open all year round Samoens has a wide selection of bars, restaurants and shops, and a historic market square.
Winter Holidays
The 8 person gondola can whisk skiers and boarders to Samoens 1600 and the Grand Massif ski area including Flaine, Les Carroz and Morrillon in just 8 minutes. Samoens has an excellent snow record with some 265 km of pistes in the wider area, between 700m and 2500m, including the snow-sure slopes of Flaine. Routes are close by at Morillion and Col de Joux Plane. A new larger ice rink is opening in the town centre February 2015 and activities such as dog sledging are also available. Cross Country and Nordic skiing is available on the valley floor or at Col de Joux Plane.
Summer Holidays
From the garden you can hear the sound of cow bells and the small stream otherwise, all is peace and tranquility. Dine outside in the sun or beneath shady pine trees while your children play in the ample garden or surrounding meadows. When you are feeling active there are walks and mountain bike trails from the front door and for road cyclists the chalet is just off the infamous Col de Joux Plane route. Our favorite walk starts from the front door with a path to the village below, with stunning views of the Giffre valley below, the Grand Massif and Mont Blanc.
Warm summers offer plenty of opportunity to swim, walk, cycle, go rafting or visit the neighbouring towns and lakes. Samoens has an outdoor leisure complex, with 2 beautiful lakes, outdoor swimming pools and a 60 metre water slide, tennis courts, basket ball, roller-blade / skateboard park and an Indiana Jones park (assault course) and in nearby Morillion enjoy fresh water swimming or picnic beside Lac Bleu.
There is also white water rafting, canoeing / kayaking and Samoens village has plenty of out-door cafés and restaurants and the beautiful botanical gardens, “La Jaysinia” just off the village square.
The Giffre valley famed for its flora, fauna and stunning scenery offers walks to suit all abilities at differing altitudes. All routes are clearly marked. For MTB enthusiasts there are hundreds of miles of MTB paths with lifts at Samoens and Morillion open during the summer. Each ride is graded according to length and difficulty.
The historic towns of Evian, Thonon Les Bains, Chamonix, Mont Blanc and Annecy and are all in easy reach for days out.

We had a great stay in this lovely, traditional style chalet near Samoens. The communication over check in and check out was excellent. We had fantastic weather and enjoyed sitting outside the chalet in the evenings and relaxing in the comfortable living area. There were plenty of active things to do around the area. We hired bikes in Samoens and went up the Col du Joux Plane climb which was exhausting but great fun and I would recommend if you are fit enough! Many thanks for a great holiday.

Quiet beautiful place well-fitted lots of hiking, biking (for the trained!) possibilities. Small town with lots of facilities. Need car!

The property is ideal if you want to be away from the noise and busy streets of Samoen. The views across the valley to Morilon and the drive down into Samoen are spectacular. In the mountains, with fresh air and lovely views. It was ideal for us 3 and had everything we needed.

Super Chalet !

On recommande +++.

It could have been 10 out 10 if the chalet was little further away from the main road and the floor boards less nosy especially stare case to bedrooms in uper floor

Dommage

Wonderful and authentic
Great chalet, comfortable and warm. The fireplace makes it really cosy. The interior is as shown on the pictures including a large and comfortable couch . All in all it has a great atmosphere. Even better is sitting outside on the bench in the sun with a cup of coffee, a glass of wine and a beautiful view. We would love to return.
The host is quick with responses and realy attentive.

Winter break
Very cosy house in beautiful location with fantastic views off the beaten track but within close proximity of Samoëns (car needed, snow chains/socks during winter months). We went for a skiing holiday and feed-in lifts were located in Samoëns and Morrillion within 10 min car drive. (parking there can be an issue during peak ski season). The house easily caters for 4, our 5-year old daughter slept on a blow up mattress, which was perfectly fine, there is also a sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped and the owner was very helpful when we ran into a problem with the dishwasher. The surrounding holds much outdoor adventure all year round and we're keen to explore more during the summer months!

Hansel & Gretel compact and bijou. Just lovely.
We were charmed from the minute we arrived. It is set halfway up the Col de Joux Plane, overlooking the valley and mountains beyond. Stunning scenery. The chalet itself has everything you need except perhaps a washing machine. Comfortable beds, a relaxing lounge area and a good sized bathroom. A true Alpine base from which to explore the area.

Amazing chalet for a true mountain getaway
The chalet was an amazing place to stay for a month in the mountains. Situated about 10 mins drive from the centre of Samoens, the location is beautiful and perfect for a secluded stay in nature. The chalet was equipped with everything you could possibly need, and the whole experience was excellent. Hope to stay again next time!

Really nice and cosy chalet!
The chalet has a lot of character, is very comfortable. We really enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen and the cosy fire. Really nice view from the bedrooms in the morning and a nice feeling of being high up and remote, in a rural environment. But only 10 minute drive away from Samoens village centre which is very lively. We'd love to come back!

Great Property
This is a great property about 10 minutes drive up towards the Col de Joux Plane from Samoens with a nice view down and across the valley. It was in a quiet area with no very close neighbours and just a few other properties nearby. The property was clean, comfortable, and very well equipped. There was a wide variety of hiking routes in the valley which were a short drive away and a few you could do from the door. Overall, highly recommended and we would definitely consider staying again. .

A Wonderful Holiday Destination
This really is the most stunning location, with fantastic views and a real rustic charm. The chalet was the perfect accomodation for us and our two children. The bedrooms are comfortable with the master bedroom being large. Being able to get up and see the view from your bed is just a pleasure. The living room was a den of comfort, we never did get the DVD to work but this allowed us to enjoy more time with the kids. The bathroom is downstairs and a bit of a pain to get to at 4 in the morning if your bladder is as small as mine, but well appointed when you get there. The kitchen is just a delight of rustic charm, anyone looking for IKEA will be dissapointed but we loved it. The whole house is very snug with the kitchen woodburner and log fire in the lounge just adding to the charm.

A fantastic chalet - March 09
We stayed at Chalet Clos Parchet for a week at the beginning of March 09. There was so much snow! We couldn't get the car down the road to the house but the off road parking was fine. You really do need a car to stay here. The chalet itself is lovely- very cosy and comfortable. The living room is a great space to relax after a days skiing- the open fire is a bonus. The rooms were comfy too- loads of space and storage in the main bedroom- not so much in the smaller room but plenty for us overall. The bedding and tea towels are provided but you'll need to take your own towels. There were 4 adults in our party and we pretty much filled the house. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could need.
Overall, this was a lovely place to stay- great location, easy to get to, fantastic views etc. The owners are great to deal with as well- very helpful and great communicators.

for mountain scenery lover...
i would recommend this property to anyone looking for a stay in typical chalet of Haute-Savoie in beautiful landscapes. the property is well described by the owner.
It is comfortable, nicely decorated with respect of the materials. It takes 5 to 15 minutes to go the center of the city by car in winter depending if there's snow or not.
ideal if you look for peacefulness and proximity with nature.
