About this cottage rental
Escape to a tranquil haven in the New Forest close to Burley village with its amenities and pubs. The Cottage is on the estate of a Country House accessible via a scenic forest track. Yet Ringwood is just 3 miles away with all the amenities you may need, like Waitrose, Sainsbury, David Lloyd, and Ringwood Leisure Centre.
Immerse yourself in the nature of the surrounding forest. Deer and horses pass the front gates. There is outdoor seating, a fire pit, an alfresco dining area, and a BBQ within its secluded garden. Perfect for a leisurely evening.
Enjoy the panoramic views from an adjacent field, ideal for family picnics.
You'll find a spacious kitchen, a cosy living room, and three comfortable bedrooms upstairs. The farmhouse-style kitchen boasts a dedicated dining space. It is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer, electric kettle, microwave, and fridge/freezer.
Entertainment is at your fingertips with a smart TV and free Netflix. Wi-Fi is provided via fibre with an average speed of 100 Mbps. There's also a selection of books and board games - ideal for quality time with friends and loved ones. The Cottage invites you to bring your bikes and explore the nearby forest tracks.
The bedrooms have one king, one double and one pair of twin single beds, offering ample space for families. The bathroom features a bath with an electric power shower and a convenient downstairs cloakroom.
A travel cot and highchair are available on request. There is also a stair gate fitted at the top of the stairs; please note the bolt to secure the gate is not toddler-proof. We also provide a movable stair gate for downstairs to fit across the kitchen door or the sitting-room door if requested.
Outside is a private patio-walled garden—an enchanting spot for alfresco dining and relaxation around a fire pit and a BBQ. This is not just a holiday for your family as we are pleased to welcome 2 well-behaved medium-sized dogs (Labrador size) to accompany you. We ask you to keep dogs in the kitchen and not leave them at the Cottage unaccompanied. Please exercise your dogs outside the main gates in the forest and clear up any accidental mishaps.
There is an adjacent field by the main gates you can enjoy for picnics and for your children to play. Children should always be supervised, and the field is used at your discretion.
There is ample parking for three cars.
Changeover days are conveniently set on Fridays and Mondays, with flexibility whenever possible.
In response to the ongoing concerns, rest assured that we prioritise your safety with a thorough COVID-19 cleaning regime. Your Cottage undergoes a deep clean before each stay.

Nicely located for exploring the New Forest. Owner was welcoming and helpful. Cottage was clean and comfortable, and we very much enjoyed our short stay.

We loved this cottage. The location for exploring is brilliant but in a peaceful location away from the bustle of burley itself. Anne was fabulous with communication before and during. Our car had issues which meant we were late arriving for our shopping delivery. Anne made herself available to accept it and put it away for us before we arrived. thats great above and beyond service. There was everything we needed in the cottage. I enjoyed the peace the courtyard garden before everyone else got up. It was the relaxation I needed. We would definitely reccomend this cottage and hope to be back soon Thank you so much.

Fabulous four night break in a delightful cottage.
Fabulous location with direct access to walking and views across the stunning landscape. The cottage was cosy and exactly as advertised. Anne was a delightful host who welcomed us on our arrival and came to say goodbye. The outdoor garden space was perfect for sitting in the sunshine, and we had a really wonderful few days in this cottage. Thank you Anne for a lovely short break.

Communication with Anne was first class from the moment of booking, to arrival and greeting. We were advised well in advance of Covid procedures and given very accurate directions to the property, which is wonderfully secluded in the forest, yet just minutes from Burley. The accommodation has everything you need, it is simple but characterful and in the perfect setting.

Birthday gettaway in the heart of the country
A lovely cottage in the heart of the New Forest perfect for a break away from the towns and cities. Came here for my 50th birthday to spend quality time with my family which is exactly what we did. Fantastic walks through the countryside which is right on the doorstep and wonderful pub lunches especially at the White Buck which Anne kindly recommended. Anne was a great host who responded really promptly with any queries that we had but left us to our own devices during our stay. Beautiful flowers, chocolates and wine left for us on our arrival, such a lovely touch. Would highly recommend.

Great base to enjoy the forest with family and friends
Anne was there to meet us when we arrived and had left us some flowers, a very tasty red wine and a lovely box of chocolates that the children destroyed in an exceptionally speedy fashion.
Cottage is right in the middle of woodland and is in walking distance of Burley. We had a great time adventuring in the ‘forest’ and enjoyed a lovely long lunch in the Burley Inn and then treated ourselves to a gorgeous ice cream (we were spoilt for choice for shops selling it)
Burley also has places to rent bikes which if we’d been there for longer we’d definitely looked into.
We spent the vast majority of time at the cottage and in the small walled garden and it really was just a perfect base for a very relaxing weekend away
We’ll be back!

Lovely cottage, wonderful host
Anne was a lovely host, very accommodating and had equipped the cottage with most things you would need for a holiday break. The accommodation was very clean and the bedrooms, kitchen and living room were spacious for a cottage. We brought our dog who was very relaxed here and enjoyed the woodland and heathland walks on the doorstep. We saw deer, ponies, cows and donkeys whilst out exploring. Burley is tiny but has a couple of reasonable pubs and a lovely shop with decent variety. Great place to explore the New Forest from and thoughtfully set up.

Charming Country Cottage tucked away in the heart of the New Forest
May/June 2018
Castle Top House was truly everything we had hoped our rental (from VRBO photos) would be. We had chosen the New Forest in particular as it was within easy driving distance for visiting family in Southampton and Bournemouth area. Our interest was piqued while reading about the free roaming ponies, horses, and cows in the nearby Hampshire moors and surrounding countryside. And indeed, they were plentiful giving us many opportunities for photos. The owner, Anne, welcomed us warmly, with beautiful flowers, wine and chocolates awaiting us as we arrived at Castle Top. The spacious kitchen was very well equipped, and the living room, also quite large and provided ample seating for family and friends who came to visit. We especially relished the lovely views of the many flowering vines and colorful garden beds bordering the house. We had an evening planned for 16 family relatives, and as the weather was overcast, we made plans to entertain indoors, as there was plenty of room. When everyone arrived, the sun came out and the party was moved immediately to our favorite spot, a colorful cozy hidden garden with good size table and chairs. It was ideal for the gathering, picture perfect!!
The long country lane leading to Castle Top, seemed endless, our first time finding it. But , we soon learned our way to local pubs for great eating, in Burley, Ringwood( two supermarkets as well), Bournemouth and Southampton area. There are side lanes and the woods offering walks and hiking.;
it is high advisable though, to wear closed shoes, long pants, and long shirts due to the prevalence of deer ticks.!
We have returned home to the US, bringing fond memories of our English Country abode, and highly recommend it to you if you are seeking a comfortable non- touristy cottage in the heart of English countryside. Sukey and Malcolm D.
