This felt like a proper hostel and had a small dipping pool too.
Two of the female staff working here were very friendly.
Hostel was clean and beds had privacy curtains. Good location.
There was one disruptive guy from Serbia who it turns out worked there. He would slam the door in the middle of the night, play a piano at 11pm whilst people slept, leave the door open, turn the lights on and not turn them off, listen to music and act as if the shared room was his own. He would often change the air con temperature after others in the room had agreed upon it. He also had a lot of strong opinions on people staying there, saying true backpackers would not have suitcases and he would not let them in another hostel he worked at (some people prefer to use old suitcases over buying new backpacks). He also moaned about couples staying there saying they should be in hotels. I never saw him wash or change his clothes while I was there either. I have no idea how this guy was not sacked - I used to manage a hostel and would not have someone like him work there.
I also paid for my stay, and after leaving was accused of not paying. Staff need better communication and need to talk to each other.
More toilets are needed.
For some reason there are locks on the outside of bathroom doors, they are only needed inside.
There are two proper kitchens, but both are for staff! One should be for guest use. There is a hob and sink upstairs but this is not really suitable.
A 10% service charge is sneakily added to the bill. You also pay 3.5% more if you use a card.
There is also a silly wristband policy that you have to use to pay for stuff instead of just paying in cash.
The menu in the hostel is outdated (for example it lists drinks not available e.g Guinness and Heineken). When I pointed this out they kept it even though it would have taken seconds to wipe it off.

Der Pool und die Location im Ausenbereich sind schön gestaltet. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist ganz gut.
Das dazu gebuchte Frühstück besteht aus einer winzigen Waffel mit einer Banane oben drauf, sieht zwar schön aus aber hungrig bleibt man danach trotzdem noch. Das Bad ist teilweise je nach Uhrzeit echt nicht mehr so angenehm zu betreten (Hygiene). Die Zimmer sind stellenweise echt sehr kalt.

They have a pool
They tried to scam me when I arrived by using the wrong dollar exchange rate. When I mentioned this, they said it's because I pay in USD and they have to convert it. Then they asked for payment in LKR. Yes I know it doesn't make sense.

Bed was very comfy, ac works well, staff really nice and knowledgeable. It's nice to have a restaurant on site. The pool was refreshing!
The showers are very tiny. It's quite far from central Colombo but it's super easy to reach with public transport.

I initially chose this hostel because it was the only one I could see with a pool but it went above and beyond my expectations. The staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable of the area, the food was delicious and the beds were comfortable with A/C. I accidentally left some clothes at the hostel and Lisa posted them all the way to the UK for me so thank you so much Lisa :) I'll definitely recommend Seconds to friends and will stay again next time I'm in Colombo
The tuc tucs at the side of the road overcharge so it's best to get an Uber but the people are lovely and I loved Sri Lanka as a whole!

Der er en fed stemning og man føler sig meget hurtigt velkommen. Privat værelset er dejligt med kold AC, og poolen er også rar. Virkelig lækker morgenmad og god kaffe
Der var ikke nogen dyne, og det bliver for koldt om natten med AC tændt, og for varmt når den er slukket. Men det er en mindre detalje. Vi fik også vasket tøj her som var lidt dyrt, så vi blev lidt chokeret da vi selv skulle hente det og at det lugtede lidt surt og stadig var lidt vådt. Men på tråds af det, var det stadig et dejligt ophold

The communication of the hostel is slightly passive aggressive. Check the notices on the walls and the official answers on Google maps. They can call a customer "a typical Karen" and ask "what do you expect from $8". I felt a bit uncomfortable because of it (but I checked the reviews after I booked it)
The rule "no food from the outside" is quite odd for a hostel, they have their own cafe but still...
There's no place to work, every corner of the common space is pretty loud and they have sockets only in one location..
The Booking pictures are a bit overpromissing.

The beds were comfortable, each with a personal light, plug socket and shelf. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The air conditioning in the rooms was really good.
There was not really any comfortable seating inside the hostel anywhere, just really stiff chairs. I also chose this hostel because of three healthy restaurant attached and I wasn’t told until after check in (and I’d paid in full) that the restaurant was closed for renovations.

Schönes Hostel mit richtig tollem Hof zum sitzen und kleinem Pool zum abkühlen.
Wir hatten ein Doppelzimmer. Die Größe des Zimmers und Bettes war ok für eine Nacht. Es gab auch eine AC und einen Ventilator.
Das Gemeinschaftsbad war relativ sauber und das Personal, besonders die Managerin, waren sehr nett.
Es hat etwas muffig gerochen im Zimmer und für mich war das Bett zu hart. Ansonsten hat es gepasst für ein Hostel.

Schöner Community Bereich indoor/outdoor, um Gleichgesinnte kennenzulernen. Auch wenn leider im Zeitraum meines Aufenthalts scheinbar kaum andere Reisende dort waren und primär Volunteers da waren. Inkludiertes Frühstück ok (Waffeln mit Bananen). Gemeinschaftsbad recht einfach gehalten, ausreichend auch wenn es hätte sauberer sein können. Gute WLAN Verbindung und AC im Raum.
Entfernung zum Stadtzentrum mit Busbahnhof und Food Markt ca 20min mit TukTuk.
Sauberes Gemeinschaftsbad, mehr Auskünfte vom Personal bezüglich was man in Colombo unternehmen kann, sowie Auskünfte über Weiterreise. Dies mag an eventuell neueren Volunteers gelegen zu haben, und ist anzüglich verständlich - ein wenig mehr Support/Wissen wäre jedoch klasse gewesen.

The location is great and very close to the city center, buses, and tasty places to eat.
The pool was very clean and a good size, and there are plenty of spaces to relax around the pool and elsewhere in the outside area.
The food was absolutely delicious, particularly the banana and honey waffles that are the option of breakfast is included.
The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable with good air conditioning; the shared bathrooms are also very clean with good hot water.
The staff are very friendly and gave us some good advice about the area and which buses to catch.
Sometimes the staff entered the dorms without knocking first, so should try to do so in future to increase privacy a bit.

The pool
They offered free breakfast which was included in the booking and later charged us for it. They charged us way more than the booking price. The location is shady and far from everything. I have no idea why anyone would choose to go here

Good outdoor space to hangout. Breakfast was decent. Locked gate for security. Hosts were fast to respond on instagram. Helper, although little English, was very kind and attentive and seemed to do everything for the place.
Rooms were small and messy. No bed curtains downstairs. Bathroom need much attention downstairs; dirty mop, no hooks, no counter, always stuff everywhere and smells. Kitchenette dirty. Location is far from the city center (30mins). Hosts were absent most of the time and when around seemed standoffish, not too social. Just takes some small attention throughout to really improve this place…
