This self-catering 6-bedroom apartment, part of old Alfama, is a must if you enjoy views and traditional neighborhoods. In typical Alfama, where Fado was born, with extensive views over the river, cruise ships, and the misty south bank of the Tagus, this is the apartment for you! Six colorful bedrooms and 4 renovated bathrooms and a toilet, a living room with a honey-colored wooden floor and a lovely, private balcony is a fantastic environment for a large group of people. Its tastefully decorated interiors are constantly enhanced by the ever-changing sunlight reflected on the river, which can best be enjoyed at sunset, on the apartment’s balcony, with a glass of wine in your hand.

DESCRIPTION
This apartment is part of a renovated 18th-century building in the historic center of quintessential Alfama. High ceilings (3.30 m) and tall windows are some of the apartment’s features. Located on the 4th floor (no lift), it faces the awe-inspiring river front and the boats passing by. On Sundays, you can often witness sail boat races from the lovely French balcony, our favorite part of the house. The living room is spacious and tasteful. Classy yet informal, it has pure white walls, white painted chairs and wooden doors and, for a touch of extra elegance, just a few splashes of color. This room is next door to the charming dining room. Both rooms overlook the Tagus, as does one of the bedrooms. The other 4 bedrooms offer views over the apartment’s back and side street – overlooking the impressive National Pantheon and a cascade of little houses and striking buildings – and there is one windowless bedroom. They are all comfortable, cozy and brightly decorated. The 4 bathrooms and toilet have been renovated and the kitchen is fully equipped.
NEIGHBORHOOD
This typical quarter, close to monuments such as São Vicente de Fora convent or the Panteão Nacional, is home to souvenir shops, good value for money restaurants, the “Feira da Ladra” (the flea market on Tuesdays and Saturdays), the Fado Museum and also some of Lisbon’s best Fado venues.
Enjoying a traditional dinner to the sound of Portuguese guitars and the dramatic voices of Fado singers, will make you enter a state of inexplicable melancholy which the Portuguese call “saudade”.
This apartment is exceptionally well situated to explore the maze of winding alleyways, cobbled stone streets, old fountains and beautiful aristocratic façades. On foot, obviously. On your way, you’ll also come across grocers, shoemakers and other artisans who have been selling their products for over 40 years! This is real, genuine Lisbon, the one most visitors fall in love at first sight.
The apartment is within walking distance of some of Lisbon’s highlights: 5 min from the Fado Museum, the National Pantheon (where the Portuguese royal family and prestigious Portuguese are buried) and the convent of São Vicente de Fora; São Jorge Castle and the Sé Cathedral are about 10 min away; Praça do Comércio and downtown Rossio square no more than 20 min; aristocratic Chiado and alternative Bairro Alto quarters – about 25 min. Of course, you’ll also have to explore Belém – the museum quarter. So please take a bus or a tram and spend some time there. There’s loads to see in Belém!
Nearby, less than a 5 min walk away, runs the ultra-famous 28 tram line which passes through some of the city’s best historical areas, as well as Santa Apolónia metro and train station, which links Lisbon to all the major cities. The metro network reaches a good part of Lisbon. Metro and buses can also take you to Cais do Sodré train station, which serves the beautiful Cascais and Estoril summer resorts, or to Rossio train station, from where you can reach Lord Byron’s beloved town of Sintra.

The location of this place is fantastic, magical and with so much character and charm, which makes up for the 4 floor walk up, something that is probably hard to avoid in such an old city. The bedrooms are nice, and beds surprisingly comfortable given they are all singles with some pushed together to make a queen, beautiful windows and clean bathrooms.
We rented the 6 bedroom configuration, which we made work - we put the parents/couples down on the far end, with the teens in their own are. It's basically a long hallway with kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms off the hallway. The small living room and dining room are up front with a bedroom off the living room. It's a lot of space but laid out very long, so, lots of privacy in bedrooms but nowhere for 8 people to hang out in one place - which is fine, because you can go outside the building and there are restaurants and bars and cafes literally everywhere. We did so much walking and sight seeing, and this is truly the best location, so very cute and historical and beautiful. Just be prepared for the long skinny apartment and 4 flights walk up and you'll have an amazing time.

Gorgeous 4th floor walk up in heart of Alfama district, in old building with high ceilings, balcony overlooking the river. Apartment was well equipped and very comfortable for the 7 of us, could easily have accommodated more. Bedrooms are well separated by long corridor so it also affords time alone if desired. Blessed with excellent weather for the Christmas week.

This apartment was the perfect size for two families traveling together. There was plenty of space to spread out - each kid (ages 10-14) had their own room, and one room for each couple. While the living room was snuggly, the dining room providing just enough space for for everyone to be in a common area together.
Communication with hosts was great, and the location was perfect for exploring Alfalma and hopping on the metro or train! As the post says, there is no AC - but plenty of fans, and most nights cooled off enough for it be comfortable (we had the misfortune of arriving on an unseasonably hot spell!).

We had a great time and it was a fantastic location. We did have an issue with the power due to having to run the space heaters. Other than that we really enjoyed our time here.

Great flat, very spacious with wonderful views across the river front. Very comfortable beds and sitting/dining rooms. Excellent communications with the letting agent with almost immediate helpful responses. Our contact Nuno was very thorough with the checking in and out process, with lots of great hints & tips regarding visits to the immediate area and around Lisbon generally. Couldn’t fault anything about our stay and will certainly be back to Lisbon!

Large apartment in the heart of Lisbon
We enjoyed this double apartment in the heart of Lisbon. This is perfect for somebody visiting in a large group and want to have groceries, restaurants, bars, sightseeing at their doorstep. We were in Lisbon during a big heat wave and with guidance from the property management company, we were able to keep the place cool even without an air conditioner. This place is on the 4th floor with many steps so it is not for someone who cannot claim as many steps. Overall, highly recommended.

Portugal Alfama
Loved the location and the person checking us in and out was SO nice and informative! Pictures make the place look a little more spacious than it is! Check in was a little hard to estimate because someone was going to meet us there instead of us just being able to access at anytime!

The Best of Lisbon
What a wonderful apartment in a great great location in Lisbon. It has so much to offer to make any vacation so very much fun and feeling as if you are part of the neighborhood. For starters the team of Fatima, Eduardo y Paula along with Daniel, Adriano, et al.. are lovely, kind, responsive and meet any need. They are so present and available you will have no concerns unmet. The apartment has a fantastic veiw and is an interesting space and teh stairs will keep you in check as you eat and drink your way through wonderful Lisbon. The neighborhood restaurants are quite good and cozy and the people are sovery kind. The Portuguese people have a calming effect and are very genuine. Needless to say we had a beautiful stay in Lisbon and found Portugal hard to leave. You will too. Go to Alfama, stay there with Fatima, Eduardo, y Paula and just enjoy. Youwill not regret it.

Lisbon Old town
We enjoyed our experience staying in Tejo 1 and 11. There were 9 of us and it was nice to have enough bedrooms and bathrooms. The four flights of stairs were a nice work out for all of us. The back entrance only had three flights and seemed easier as the day wore on. The people from Heart and Soul were very nice and helpful. We would stay there again

Excellent communication with Fatima, Rita and all the Staff from the first email, and they were very helpful with arranging transportation from the Airport, and booking a reservation at the local Fado Restaurant, which was amazing. We all arrived early and at different times and were able to store our luggage until check in. We were allowed to check in early which was greatly appreciated, as we had arrived from Australia, Canada and the States. On check in we were given lots of helpful information about the apartment, the neighbourhood, transportation, restaurants, and sightseeing. The apartments were spacious, bright, and extremely comfortable, and as we were a group of 12 ladies we all had our own beds - a real "Home Away from Home". The view was absolutely wonderful watching the sun rise and set and the cruise ships docking and departing. Perfect location as we could walk everywhere to all the main attractions, close to the train station, grocery stores, cafes, bars, restaurants right at your front door. What a wonderful time we all had. Hope to be back again one day. Thank you so much.

Wonderful stay in Lisbon
We had a wonderful stay in Lisbon. The unit was clean and tastefully decorated. Check in was simple. Carlos provided detailed information on the unit and also gave us a guide on the surrounding area. One end of the hunt has beautiful views of the water. The unit was a double unit and was able to easily fit 3 families of 4. There is no air conditioning but this was not an issue as the unit has many fans and unit was relatively cool with the windows open. It is in the heat of old town with easy access to tourists sights, amazing restaurants and night life. It is a quick uber / taxi ride to the more central areas of town. I would only note that there is no lift at the building and the trek up 3 flights of stairs can be tough if you have a lot of luggage. Overall, we had a wonderful stay.

Ideal location, excellent property overflowing with character and a great host
The location was absolutely perfect with lovely views of the Tagus river, on a pedestrian street with plenty of small restaurants, bars and convenience stores and a walk to all the major attractions in the city. The apartment has a lot of old world charm yet has all the modern amenities one would need (including updated bathrooms and kitchens). It gets better with an amazing host. Fatima and her very professional team took great care of us. They helped us with booking taxi's for our party of 8 and with making dinner reservations at restaurants that were off the beaten path that we would have never found on our own. They really made our trip both enjoyable and memorable.

Amazing view in cosy neighbourhood
We stayed with a production crew for a shoot in Lisbon and we had a blast. The apartment is cosy, rooms and beds are good and there are 2 kitchens. The living room is a bit small but we annexed one bedroom and that was perfect.
Be ready to excercise your leg muscles by taking the stairs up and down to the 4th floor. But you do get used to it.
The bedrooms were clean and quiet and the crew friendly and helpful.
Thank you Fatima and Carlos!

Tejo I & II - awesome flat, awesome company!
We were a group of 8 adults (4 couples) that rented the Tejo I & II apartments. AWESOME! I've rented a lot of places around the world and this is a really quality company. Fatima was our contact and she was GREAT! Check-in was very informative with lots of local advice given (the restaurant suggestions were spot on). Fatima was EXTREMELY helpful, even coming to the flat, when one of our group had a serious ankle injury and needed to go for xrays.
The flat was great. Plenty of room to stretch out and a great view with wonderful breezes off the water. Maybe the only larger apartment in the historic center of Lisbon that has a bathroom for every bedroom for this size of a group. It's in a great location, with lots of quaint streets, restaurants, and Fado clubs nearby. Very safe. I walked down the street alone as a female one night at 3:30 in the morning on a weekend (looking for our driver to take us to the airport)and had no fears. We walked here (dragging our wheeled luggage) from the Santa Appolonia train/metro station on arrival and it took maybe 5 minutes for our large group. This station was very convenient.
Yes, it's a long climb up the stairs to come home, but that's probably why I ate SO WELL on this trip and didn't gain any weight.

Beautiful views, plenty of space, and friendly, helpful hosts!
We recently stayed in this apartment with a group of 11, 5 adults and 6 kids. Everyone loved it! It was in a great location: near the Santa Apolonia station, near many delicious restaurants, and close to the water with beautiful views. We would recommend this apartment to everyone. Even our youngest (4 year old) could do the four floor climb with energy after a long day - because he knew he was "home" to this wonderful apartment. Thanks so much to our hosts for helping us to have an amazing first visit to Lisbon. We'll be back!

A perfect location for a trip to Lisbon
We were very impressed by this rental and spent four comfortable days in the apartment. There were three comfortable rooms with windows and the fourth room was without a window. It was an amazingly well organized rental and everyone was very responsive to our questions.
We are already recommending this apartment and all the other apartments operated by this management group - Heart Soul Lisbon. We hope to return soon
Thank you for the wonderful accomodation

Great Location for the Fit Traveler
We enjoyed our stay in the Alfama district and the location of the apartment was ideal. The metro is at the bottom of the hill and there are several restaurants located near by. Our favorite was the Alfama Cellar. Great food and the wines are outdone only by the education Luis provides.
The apartment is on the 4th floor and there are no lifts so be prepared to walk the steps. We were fortunate to have mild weather since the building has no A/C. The layout of the apartment is cozy and the beds were comfortable. The owners are located very close by so we had no worries if something came up.
One comment from our friends who joined us was the checkout process. The owners insisted on having all the trash removed from any receptacle and taken out by us before leaving. You would think the cleaning service could handle these final details like they do in other properties I have rented.

The apartment was perfect for me and my family ( three to seven visitors at any given time) Loved the accessible location with small, local restaurants recommended by the staff. We visited them multiple times and got to know the proprietors who welcomed all of us from the 4 year old to the 60 +. The apartment was immaculate, with modern bathrooms and adequate size bedrooms. We enjoyed the view of the river and the variety of cruise boats that docked daily. Being accessible to the train (5-10 minute walk) was a plus.( Glad we weren't on a cruise though) We like out of the travel book vacations. The staff was friendly and very helpful when we made a couple of extraordinary requests. I travel a lot, rent my property on Cape Cod MA via VRBO, and have rented in other countries. This completely true to the expectation set by the picture and description. Note: It is a 4th floor walk up in the hilly city of Lisbon but we were all in good shape so managed well and got in lots of steps on our daily step counter

Great accommodation in excellent location
Three days spent with friends in a well presented and equipped apartment in a great location to explore this fantastic city. The apartment has everything you could wish including fantastic views over the River Tragus, where you could see the cruise liners docking. Even the four oval flights of stairs seemed easier in the end! The tram and train stops were all close by and it was easy to walk and see a lot of the sights. The immediate locale has some interesting bijou restaurants, shops and wine bars and local shops for essentials. However, we didn't find time to use the kitchen (other than to prepare for breakfast watching the activity on the river) as we found very cheap local places to eat traditional Portuguese dishes. There was so much to do in the city and that does, of course, mean we will have to return - oh dear!

Very good location in the old town of Alfama!
Great location in the centre of the old town. Very nice flat with a fantastic view over the river and the cruise ship terminal. The flat was nicely decorated and renovated. 4 bedrooms (of which one without window; simply use this as a spare room.) The building itself would need some renovation, but that had no influence on the fun we had. Good restaurants and a supermarket nearby.
Highly recommendable and we will certainly come back!
