Great ocean front rental!
This was our very first trip to to the ocean. White horse beach was a beautiful choice. My favorite part was watching the sun rises early in the morning. Benefit of staying on the beach is you can enjoy the morning and evening hours before the crowds arrive. We stayed in late May and on the weekends it did get pretty crowded. I imagine in the summer it's crowded daily. What better place to be then the beach on a hot day! Morning walks to see what the ocean washed up over night was fun for our family. My girls 5 and 8 didn't want to leave! House had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Washer and dryer certainly made things easier. House is a little outdated, but it's certainly doable. We had a wonderful stay and would definetly love to return. Thanks Paul for letting us enjoy your property!

A nice long weekend
The house is in a nice spot on a beautiful beach; there are 32 steps down to the beach from the backyard, but they are sturdy and safe. The house is rustic, but the shell/windows are solid - though we unfortunately didn't have the best weather (heavy winds/below normal temperatures) with the windows closed the house was quiet even though it was really loud outside. The house is right on the street, so we recommend keeping the bathroom and kitchen windows closed to reduce traffic noise. The floors have some give, and you know when someone's walking around, but it's a cottage, you get to used it and have fun with it. The ductless HVAC unit on the first floor works well, and we needed it for both cooling and heating - the large floor radiator shown in the listing pictures is gone, there is now a unit on the wall. The window A/C in the master bedroom also works well for cooling (only needed it one night). Having that window open lets in the sounds from the outside. On a couple of our nights the wind and water was raging pretty well, and you got a real feel for being on the coast. Cool, and occasionally a little scary (in a fun way). The kitchen was fine, everything was in good working order. The bed in the master bedroom is extremely firm, which can be good for some, not good for others.
A couple things to note.
In a COVID world, the bathroom was not as clean as we would have liked (dust/cobwebs in corners on the floor around the shower, and soap/shampoo from prior renters left in the shower). Not a huge deal, but we're all more attentive to this kind of thing nowadays.
Finally, since the weather kept us indoors more than we would have liked, we quickly learned that there really isn't a comfortable chair in the living area. The pictures of the living area don't show the current furniture setup. There were two wooden rocking chairs facing the water, the gray sofa shown in the pictures, and some high-backed wood chairs. The dining and sitting areas have been switched. Most importantly, the three blue-cushioned swivel rockers shown in the pictures were not in the house; if they had been, there would have been no issue.
Overall, it was a nice house for two people, in a good location on a terrific beach, and we had a great weekend away from current craziness. We wish the weather had cooperated so we could have spent more time enjoying the beach than being inside.

Comfy summer cottage
The owners are fantastic and very responsive. The property was perfectly located and perfectly appointed for a stay at the beach. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning on the first floor was a welcome treat. We look forward to booking another stay.

Great location
The location of this house and proximity to the beach can't be beat. Steps from the beach and very short drive to the store. The property manager was very nice and responsive. The first floor small, but open and worked nicely for our family. 4 BR upstairs were small but spacious enough for our family of 5. Upstairs could definitely use some cosmetic work but it was completely functional. Only 1 BR had a window AC unit. Plenty of fans in other BRs though it was in the 90s all week while we were there so it was still pretty hot at night in the other rooms - but fabulous beach weather! The single, first floor bathroom was challenging for our young kids overnight, however. Kitchen had very basic cookware but plan to bring your own if you are a family who really likes to cook like we do. Plenty of beach toys for the kids. Lots of family board games and books at the house which was great. Not enough towels (bath or beach) for our family to go without doing laundry during the week. The washing machine was not functioning while we were there, but the property manager was very responsive and apologetic about the trouble. There was a washing machine available in the neighboring property (same owner) that we were able to use. Access to the beach requires crossing the lawn of the neighboring house and the homes are close together. We lucked out and had a great family with a young child renting the other house while we were there. Overall it was a great week!

Great New England Cottage right by the beach
This 4bdr 1ba cottage is wonderful. The cottage is shared with 245 on the same lot. So, 243 is at the front of the lot, and 245 is at the back of the lot closer to the water. All the bedrooms are upstairs. The living room, kitchen, and bathroom are downstairs. There is a stackable laundry closet with a washer/dryer. Also, there is an outdoor shower!! This is something I am not accustomed too, but it was great! The doors open to a large porch with rocking chairs and sitting chairs. There is a 6 chair picnic table and grill provided for cooking/eating outside. The steps to the beach are directly accessible from the front porch. There is no crossing the road. You just walk through the yard and down the steps. The beach is beautiful! It is not filled with hundreds of people or condominiums. There are just houses lining the beach. We had so much space to relax and play. The water was colder than what we were expecting. However, this was normal Atlantic Ocean temperatures. There were chair available to carry down to the beach. We bought some sand toys for the kids. They had a blast. We searched for crabs and anything else we could find.
The drive into Boston took us about an hour. We purchased the 3-day Go Boston Card, and went into Boston 2 days. We stayed at the cottage most of the time. The breeze from the ocean was cool, wonderful, and so relaxing. This is a great place to stay. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to stay in this area. It is a quaint little cottage with some great space for the entire family.
