Lovely summer get-away for me and my little dog! We relaxed in the comfortable house with Keurig coffees and window A/Cs, and took day trips to the dog-friendly parks, lakes, waterfalls, covered bridges, breweries and restaurants. A fun outdoorsy Vermont adventure!

The property was extremely private and the house was very cozy. We enjoyed nearby Harriman Reservoir and went on a nice hike. The property also has a nice trail that circles the house that we utilized everyday as well as a fire pit in the backyard. Overall we had an amazing stay!

This gem was tucked away for peace and quiet but close enough for dining out. It was a perfect stop on our family East Coast trip. The house was just as advertised. Fern made sure we had everything we asked for. Definitely would stay again.

Beautiful cabin in the woods. We greatly enjoyed the wood stove while reading on the couches. The hosts were very gracious and provided all the information we needed in easy to understand wording.
Would 10/10 stay again.

We had a great, snowy stay and were able to head to Mount Snow with easy access. Accommodations were just what we needed with 2 young kids. Would recommend to friends.

Cabin was just as advertised and perfect for those looking for a remote stay that really isn't that far away from things to do. Between the gas heater and wood stove, both floors of the cabin stay comfortably warm at night. The kitchen was one of the best stocked of any rental we've stayed at, so most visitors looking to cook won't have to bring anything. We had rain all three days but I can imagine being snowed in here would be a magical treat! Dogs will find plenty of land to run and the dead-end road was perfect for short dog walks without having to get on the main paved road. Would definitely stay again in any season!

This home is a perfect home base to explore many nearby towns and outdoor hotspots. It has perfect balance of rustic charm while also having all of the comfort measures and practicality you need. We used the kitchen for making dinner and breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. We (our dogs especially) loved the spacious front and back yard surrounded by a perimeter of lush fern and trees. Close to many hikes, swimming spots, breweries, and restaurants. We would definitely come back to continue to explore the many nearby areas.

Off the beaten path it's a cute cabin in the woods. Warm and toasty. About 30 minutes from Berkshire east for good skiing and 20 minutes to Wilmington.Great place for a quiet stay in nature. Well equipped.

We enjoyed our stay in this well maintained and well-apportioned home in the bucolic area of Whitingham. The home had everything we needed including the essential jug of real Vermont maple syrup. It was expansive inside with a warm and cozy feeling.
Owner, Steve, was very attentive and responsive, and even offered an extra amenity when asked.
Get off the beaten track here. The area is bucolic and replete with tourist opportunities..

My girlfriend and I were very pleased with our experience! Beautiful property in the woods! Watched a momma deer and two fawns grazing around the property early one morning.

I had a wonderful week at The Green Mountain Roost. I loved the wood burning fire place and thought the location was perfect. I skied at Mt Snow nearly everyday that I was there and the drive to the mountain was easy. I would definitely stay here again.

We loved our 11-day stay in this rustic cottage. The property is quiet and secluded, and a 15 to 18 min drive to the town of Wilmington and a 30-minute drive to the Mt Snow ski area. It is also a 30-40 min drive to Shelburne Falls, MA where we visited an art gallery and a wildlife sanctuary. The property has a charming pond where one could also do some birdwatching on a warmer winter day. The entire first floor of the house has plenty of glass in the doors and windows and we enjoyed the sunlight, and views of the snow and trees streaming into the house. The house was warm and cozy, the beds comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked with utensils (including baking dishes). The wood burning stove was lovely and there was plenty of firewood which lit very easily. For longer stays, you might want to get some more condiments, sugar, foil etc. but we certainly appreciated the Trader Joes lemon garlic salt and the lemon pepper. Last but not least, Steve was a very responsive and accommodating host. We would gladly stay here again.

The cabin had everything we needed. Everything in working order and as advertised. The host was helpful in suggestions on things to do and about the property. General store, not far, in Jacksonville, was a great find with deli items, butcher and all must haves for dining in. Would absolutely come back! Kim and Joe

We stayed at the Green Mountain Roost for 5 weeks during the summer and had a wonderful time. The place is very secluded, totally private - it is at the end of the driveway with the woods practically surrounding it, yet with ample space to be outside. The deck is perfect for sun tanning or watching the stars or the moon at night. The house is very clean and comfortable. It has so many windows on 3 sides that it felt as though we were outside even when we were in. While outside, we sometimes heard distant sounds of cars, but they were so infrequent that it did not matter much. At night it was mostly amazingly quiet but for the sounds of the forest. Steve and Fern were very nice and accommodating. They gave us detailed guidance about the property and the surrounding area and responded quickly to all our questions. The house has all the necessary amenities, including air conditioning for hot days and electric heating or wood stove for cooler weather. The internet speed is extraordinary for such a remote place. This was very important for us as we both needed good internet connection for work which included software testing. The area has a lot to offer. Harriman Reservoir offers beautiful views and places for swimming and/or boating; there are many other lakes and hiking trails in the area. It is also very close to the border with Massachusetts - 45 minutes to the Clark Institute, Shelburne Falls, and other interesting places. We are very likely to come back and stay at this beautiful place again.

My teenage daughter and I a lovely stay at this comfortably appointed property in the woods. Everything that was needed was on hand, from dry firewood to warm blankets and pots and pans. The hosts were informative and a welcoming. Highly recommend!!

We enjoyed our stay on the property. The woods around the property allowed us to experience the foliage in the best possible way. My 10 months old son enjoyed exploring the inside and outside of the house. We enjoyed our morning breakfasts on the deck, evenings around the fire pit. Can not wait to be back and enjoy all the seasons on the property.

We needed a break from NYC, and this house in the country gave us just what we needed. Rustic, bucolic, short distance to swimming, hiking, museums, and charming small towns, plus a big back deck for barbecuing. Who could ask for more? Steve and Fern were excellent hosts, available to answer any questions we had right away.
