Great, roomy house in cute little Kernville. Close to park, everything. Host was very responsive! Easy to access, lovely outdoor patio.

I have stayed at other properties and they were great. The hosts were great and we had everything we needed. BUT this place was terrible. The pictures of the property are not up to date. It is run down and not taken care of. The lock on the door to get in was difficult to open. There was no can opener or a lid for any of the skillets. The window sills were full of cobwebs and dead bugs. There is a small piece of wood that hangs down in the doorway by the kitchen that is dangerous. My husband bumped his head on it. There was so much dust on the bedroom floor I could write my name in it! The shower head does not spray, The sheets on the beds were so wrinkled it look like they had been slept in, and most important of all there was NO internet the whole time we were there. We contacted the host who brought us a can opener and a lid but said nothing about the internet. I sent Evolve a message about it and they never responded. I have been trying to get a hold of Evolve for a week now but have had no luck. They hung up on the person from Vrbo who was trying to help me. So I will stay away from any property that Evolve manages. They do not care and you will not get any help.

The house was very cute with a lot of antiques. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels available. The house had beautiful views of the mountains and was very close to downtown.

No TVs or cooking stuff
Overall not too bad for money spent. Good location and access. No TVs in any bedrooms. Limited cooking utensils or supplies in cabinets. Owner wanted dishes washed but no dishwasher or even dish drainer. Doors sticking in door frames. Needs screen door on back door since door sticks in frame and tough to open/close. No wood for fireplace. Okay for a bunch of guys to kick back it was adequate but not for a family to prepare meals or spend any extended amount of time. Owner needs to step up and furnish/supply property.

The home was really nice very homey everything was provided for you for as television cable pots and pans at least the barbecue. It was very clean. I absolutely loved it but the only two things I had issues with the advertisement said two queen beds but they were two Full size beds and they were extremely small and very uncomfortable.! And honestly the comfort of the beds are the most important barely fit on this bed. The second issue I had was they required us to take out the trash which was a little odd request for me personally but the problem was there was no trashcan outside so we had to haul all that traffic all the way back home. In the last issue is they were wanting you to be out by 11 I was thinking this is not a hotel room ? we should have until 5 o’clock to vacate the premises. Especially for how much me paid for this place.

Disappointed
Couches felt dirty, bedroom windows had no curtains, front porch full of spiderweb, old tv. I felt like i couldn't relax after spending the day at the river. Suggestions clean up the place add Wi-Fi update your tv then it'll be nice.

Great location....needs some work
The location is great for everything and easy walk. They are in process of making it a 3 bedroom which is another plus. They had Direct TV for when we were there relaxing at night and the kitchen and everything was stock well and ready to go. We were told this was only the 2nd time they rented it. The agent was very responsive when we had a toilet issue the 1st day there. But the property needs a few things. One, with it being so hot the cooler was not working well as it is not an AC unit. The issue was that there were no other fans or ceiling fans so it was over 90* in the house. We went and bought two floor fans and that helped keep the house around 80*. The cooler cooled it off great at night so that helped. Ceiling fans should be installed in each room to help with this. Second the front door didnt work. The knob fell off when we went to try to open it. Third, the location of the combo lock box was not stated in the paperwork so we had to look around. It was on the wall by the back door but when we arrived at 11pm we didnt see it right away. Fourth there were no outside lighting that worked. I think they just need bulbs but we were unable to use the outside seating area due to not being able to see. And when we arrived at night we were walking through cob webs and bumping into things because we could not see. Fifth I grew up there so I understand the area having bugs and spiders but the front porch and back area were covered in cobwebs and black widows. We walked right through them the first time going in. Due to our kids, we had to search and the spiders and we found 7 black widows to kill before we even went back inside and they were blocking our way in so it was not an option. Just seemed like no one thought to clean up outside as well. Sixth that 2nd room should have a queen bed, as a double is a bit small for two people. Seventh all the windows should have blinds and/or ones that work. The front blinds did not close so that did not help but let more heat in. We put a blanket over it for privacy and to help with the heat. Eighth the shower nozzle was a bit finicky and there was no stopper for the bathtub.
Even with all that we did enjoyed our stay but the property is not like other rentals we have stayed in. I guess my comments are more for recommendations on what to correct. We paid a lot to stay here to have to try to be comfortable each day. Good luck in the future with this rental. Could be a good one if done right.

Love this place!
The house is perfectly located, within walking distance to downtown Kernville,, the Kern River, and to all the little hot spots in Kernville.
The house is very comfortable with a nice porch with beautiful views of the mountains. There is a nice sitting area just outside the back door that is a perfect area to sit with your family and/or friends for some drinks or dinner.
I can't say enough nice things about the house and the area.
I highly recommend this house for a perfect vacation.
