This listing is very misleading. The dock is not private. There is another rental on the property that has full access to the dock as well.
We showed up to another group having a party on what I understood we had full access to. The owner basically rents one dock to two groups at once.

The home is large and had plenty of space for our family to spread out. The home is right on the water and has lovely views early in the morning. Would be nice to have some outdoor furniture to sit out and enjoy the sunrise.
The kitchen has the basics: dishes, silverware, pots and pans, dishwasher, cups, coffee maker, etc. It was missing trash bags though. Through no fault of the owner, the water coming out of the faucet is less than ideal. I recommend picking up bottled water on your way in.
There were plenty of towels for both bathrooms, and the water was nice and hot for showers.
The house is functional, comfortable, and roomy. A great place to gather after a busy day in NOLA.

Great house for families and friends. Perfect to fish and crab. Would 100% recommend for anyone to stay!!

Our stay was great! The house has a beautiful set up. The only problems were that we had to buy our own set of pots to cook and it would be nice to have patio furniture and bbq grill. Other than that we had a beautiful time thanks for sharing your home with my family.

We all absolutely loved this house and property. Not a single complaint! Thank you so much, we plan to come back if we can book this house again!!

We stayed here for my son's 21st birthday. It served as a great location for peace and quiet with access to fishing but, also close enough for us to commute into New Orleans and enjoy Bourbon Street as part of the trip. The house had plenty of room and space for all of my kids to spread out and get their own space but also come together in the living and dining areas to enjoy each other's company. There are also quite a few local eats in Slidell that are excellent. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We came into for a family funeral but we decided to try to make fun for the kids. We are a fishing and crabing family. This location was great for those things.

ARRIVAL:
When we arrived at 3:15 PM the front door was open and the house was filled with cigarette smoke.
Immediately reached out to manager.
MASTER: milk or food splashed across the TV screen.
Blinds and window sills were filthy.
We found a pink baby bottle in the bed(under blanket and sheets) which leads me to think the linens were never cleaned after last guest.
Closet in master bath was open-this is the place they throw things that guest leave. Horrifying and scary.
No trash cans in any bathrooms.
Towels were clean but they’re were only nine. *****No extra sheets, pillow cases, towels, or blankets. No wash cloths or hand towels.
***We had to purchase wash cloths and hand towels for our traveling guests.
Batteries low/dead for most light fan remotes... No lamp in bedrooms or bulbs were out.
Only clock in the house is in the master bath. Minor detail.
FRONT BEDROOM BY MASTER:
Pests- spiders. Blinds and sills filthy. I mean really filthy.
FRONT BEDROOM NEAREST BAR:
Very unclean, needs dusting- sills filthy.
LIVINGROOM:
TV probably has blown speakers- even at a low level it’s buzzes and it’s hard to hear at times. Sticky cup rings on counters by the TV.
Blinds and sill filthy.
This room is comfortable- and great view- but not clean.
KITCHEN:
Refrigerator unclean and smelly.
Counters/ sink uncleared
Toaster sticky and food all over it.
Blinds and sills disgusting
***Mold on dishes
***No dish drainer or towels
***Stove was unusable- bad gas smell (scared my guests and they had to air out the house)
Burners worked fine, oven was the problem.
***Food Items in the pantry- not ours.
LAUNDRY ROOM: best room in the house.
SMALL HALLWAY BATHROOM:
No trash can
Smelly
TWIN BUNK ROOM:
Missing light bulbs
Very, very dirty
Sills and blinds terribly dirty
Fan/light does not work
****Found left over items in drawers and window sills(fake eyelashes)
Not sure what the green stuff was in the drawer- slime maybe.
Drawers are soooo dirty
QUEEN BEDROOM:
*****The mattress was the most disgusting thing- had a very big lump in the middle of mattress. ***
No mattress pads on any beds- DONT LOOK UNDER THE SHEETS!
Bed was lazily made.
Lamp didn’t work
Sills and blinds very dirty.
VENTS:
Really grosThis house is unsanitary.
View- fantastic!
This could be a spectacular place.
A professional cleaning-
Some decent linens and some attention to details would be great!!!

The pictures in the ad from vrbo are considerably better than in real life. Vrbo said it sleeps 14 but there are only 2.5 bathrooms. The half bath was completely wrecked and inoperable. It is on the dock in the deckhouse. It should not have been inlcuded. I do not think we are clean freaks but a vrbo property should be spotless. We had to clean the bathrooms and the kitchen again. The garbage from the previous guests had not been removed, the air filters were hideous and the compartment filled w dead roaches. We changed them ourselves. The filters were present just not used. There was also a roach issue in the kitchen. There were missing barstools and towels for two people. We ended up purchasing our own towels and wash cloths. The refrigerator was damaged and forced us to take pictures so we would not be blamed for the damage. For the price we paid, I was expecting much more. This was our vacation and the state of the property was embarrassing. The Blue Crab fell way short. I did speak with the property manager, CJ, 3 times. CJ was very respectful, cordial, and apologetic. In the end it was still all excuses. My wife contacted the property manager who was listed in the displayed instruction binder. The binder was not up to date and the new property manager requested that we not follow the displayed instructions and contact him instead.
This is very minor but taken as a whole it is part of the problem that needs to be resolved. We do not recommend this property.

Property was great. Cooking hardware (pots and pans) could be updated. We enjoyed the fishing dock in the evenings. Some of the steps going to the front door need to be replaced. We enjoyed the open living area because it gave us plenty of space to relax.

Im so happy we decided to stay here. Even though it rained one day, I’ve never enjoyed seeing rain until I experienced it here. I enjoyed my coffee every morning while viewing the lake. The house is very spacious and gave all my teens their privacy, they also played football in the afternoons..so glad I didn’t stay in a hotel. Will defined be coming back to enjoy this peace i found here.

House in disrepair
The home is in disrepair. Half the electrical outlets and fans did not work. The appliances did not work. We had to buy lightbulbs because half the lights were burned up. The docks and the garage were hazardous zooms. Sewage leaks under the house. The last day we had no water to clean up or use bathrooms or take showers.

Hurricane damage left in disrepair
The place was still a mess from the Hurricane. Bottom floor a complete mess, docs unsafe, fishing house no water in sinks or toilet, grills al completely rusted out. May still have come, but still expect a refund of some sort because we paid full price when it was still very much in disrepair. Poor job of customer service for a repeat customer.

wonderful time with family
It was our first time at that part of the ocean and it was very different. Our family had very fun time catching crabs, watching gators, and going to New Orleans. Host was very nice and care

Perfect for a large group
We had 12 people, the outside of the house could use some upkeep. The inside is just as pictured though. Our families had a great time by the water and hanging out in the house.

Listing needs updated
Overall, my family enjoyed the stay at the Big Blue Crab, but there are several things that needed to be addressed. As mentioned in other reviews, the outside of the house is deteriorated and needs some repair. The layout of the inside is very nice, but the inside of the house was dirty when we arrived. The stove and microwave were dirty, as well as the counters, and there were plates with food under the couch, the sheets and comforters on two of the beds were stained. We also had an issue with roaches inside the house - we went and bought our own spray but the house needs to be exterminated. The gas grill was not functional - the whole bottom of the grill was rusted out and one propane tank was actually floating in the water at the dock. The kitchen is not well stocked, we should have brought our own pans and pots. The ones that are there were put away dirty and really just needed to be replaced. The fishing and crabbing from the dock was great, but the 1/2 bath located in the dock house looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a good while so it was not functional.

Awesome Vacation Spot!!
My family and I spent the week of Easter at this property. It was wonderful. Fishing was great! Caught alot of crabs!! Had an Easter Egg Hunt in the huge front yard. House was clean and spacious! Appreciated the sub-zero fridge!

Nice stay in spite of the weather.

Great getaway
I really enjoyed the stay at this property. The house was everything that was described in pictures. We only had 4 people in our group with 5 bedrooms but I noticed the property had a one bedroom house behind the property we rented that had 4 vehicles and at least 7 plus individuals we had to share the dock house area with.I don't think that was fair, but other than that it was a very pleasant experience.

This property is spacious and in a prime area for fishing. Large downstairs garage with ping pong table and nice docks. We had a wonderful time having a crawfish boil and crabbing and fishing off the dock. Inside and bedrooms are comfortable and clean. This property uses Evolve booking agency. This means extra fees tacked on to the VRBO fees. Additionally I found them unpleasant to work with. If you message them through the app you only get a response that they don't use the VRBO messaging and will email you, which they don't with any consistency. I had to reduce my nights, and notified them of this 60+ days in advance, to which their response was that even if I did this, I would still have to pay their percentage of the nights I was cancelling. When I pressed them about this, they conceded and didn't charge me, but with no response or professionalism. It's too bad for the owners that they are being represented like this. I love the property but will be double checking any listings that use Evolve booking and avoiding. I've actually made this mistake twice with Evolve booking and both times it was an unpleasant hassle.

Weekend Fishing Trip
This property needs a little TLC. The front porch of the house is in bad shape. Bird droppings everywhere, wasp nests, paint chipping off, ect... The outside of the house needs some attention. The inside is fine. The pros are good tv, wireless is fine, gas stove, washing machine, two fridges (no ice maker), and AC works well.
The cons: Only two bathrooms, very sparse on kitchen ware, no board games, the overall condition of the property is in need of repair.
Overall feeling was that we spent to much for this place. If you have your own boat and want to use it as a place to go out and fish with guy friends, it's fine. If you're bringing ladies and kids with you, it might be a mixed bag.

Not for New Orleans Trip
Booked this house for a group of 11 girls bachelorette party. While owner was kind enough to let us check in early. He was difficult to contact throughout our stay. The wifi wasn’t updated and there didnt seem to be enough toilet paper/paper towels so we had to restock. The lisitng was very misleading as it said 35 minutes to New Orleans, which depending on where you’re going and when you’re driving can be more like 45-60 minutes. At the end of our stay our house seemed to be intruded and not only did it take cops too long to arrive but owner was unreachable. The house was lovely and large enough for us, but not enough bathrooms and too far from everything. Would only recommend if you wanna get away from it all and stay only in the house.

This house was everything. It was exactly as pictured and accommodated our group of 13 perfectly.

Beautiful property in a beautiful area!
We had 11 ppl stay at this property for 3 days. It fit everyone comfortably and even had room to spare! We took an Uber to New Orleans when we wanted to go out. But the cost split between everyone for the uber was minimal. I wish the house was stocked with more toilet paper, paper towels, and garbage bags. We had to run our and get more, but other than that everything was absolutely perfect! We will recommend this house to other large groups!

Great Place
We rented this place for a company retreat and it over delivered! Comfortable and relaxing with lots of stuff to do like night fishing on the dock. A few member of our team asked for The Blue Crab to be our permanent retreat venue!

Everything we expected and then some!
We spent the 4th of July weekend at the Blue Crab and had an absolutely awesome time. The place was clean and the property manager was awesome. Every concern we had was addressed promptly. We enjoyed the water view and we tried our hand at fishing but they just kept getting away. Our only complaint was there really weren't enough bathrooms for a larger number of guests. But other than that it was amazing and we would gladly rent this property again!

Home away from home
You know you've made a good choice if you would rather be at your vacation rental more than exploring the town. This home was so comfortable and modern! My family loved every inch of the house. Honestly we were expecting a typical lake house with creeks and cobwebs but it really wasn't like that at all.
As great as our stay was, the home was about 45 mins away from the fun stuff like the french quarter and about an hr away from plantation museums. We had to plan our outing keeping in mind that the home was not close by. With that being said, we didn't mind the drive because at the end of each day we all went to our respective rooms closed the door and slept in peace and comfort.
Only downside: The TV in the second bedroom wasn't working or connected to cable.

Fishing, crabs, and tranquillity
Beautiful, quiet home with excellent views if the canal and nice boat pier for fishing. We caught 40 blue crabs in the traps provided and grandchildren had a ball although we kept a very close eye on the kiddos due to the baby alligator chirping! Very convenient location just a block from Rigolets marina.

Awesome Place
Booked the house for a Business / Vacation . The house was very easy to get to and was very clean. The setup was nice with a kitchen and table down stairs by the water and grill so you did not have to track stuff upstairs when trying to cook fish and MudBugs . The house was furnished with the basics but had to buy a big enough pot to do a boil in. We booked a fishing charter for the day and only had to drive 2 min. to get to the boat, We caught alot of fish too. Overall a very nice place to stay. I would come back for another week or two. P.S. It was much better then staying in a hotel in New Orleans and only 30 min drive.

Perfect for families
The home was plenty spacious for our family of seven. It was clean and well stocked with amenities. We chose this house because we didn't want to stay in New Orleans with our young children, but we wanted to be close enough to drive in each day. The location was perfect for that. And! The lake view was gorgeous!
