Nice modern home except for the "Window Shaker" A/C. A house that nice should have real central A/C. If that just isn't in the budget at least another window A/C upstairs?
When the one A/C unit died it got up to 89 degrees inside. Kind of hard to sleep.

We were here for a wedding, lots of room for us to spread out. Asked for early check in and was not a problem. Enjoyed our stay.

This location is close to wine tasting in Murphy's, Hiking at Calaveras Big Trees, Lake Alpine and more. The house is cozy. The kitchen needs more amenities. There were 4 glasses, 12 coffee cups and zero glasses for cocktails and wine.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and well organized. The cleanliness got a three because there was plenty of dust under and behind furniture, which can make it hard to breathe. There was also some type of brown splatter across the kitchen cabinets. That could be solved easily. Over all it was a good stay.

We stayed for an weekend visit. The place was very clean and comfortable. The only problem was that the person we will supposed to communicate with was not available. So our questions went unanswered.

I don't typically write reviews although this stay was so magical I really had to. The home was as advertised, super cute, cozy, well stocked with everything you need and perfect for large families. We were there 2/23-2/26 and the snow didn't stop falling, it was amazing. There is somewhat of a steep driveway which made for a perfect "hill" for the kids to slide down. However, if you don't have large all terrain tires and AWD you MAY get stuck even with chains. My brother did and he was in his Honda CR-V with chains. The garage game room was def a plus, we were in there a lot while kids were sledding down. Beds and rooms were super comfy, bathrooms stocked with TP, soap and towels. My family plans on making an annual trip to this same cabin.

Our theatre company (Main Street Theatre Works) had our annual retreat here, for the first time. The place was clean, well laid out, plenty of room, and sweetly decorated (I felt like we were staying at a Black Bear Diner ~ adorable). There were a couple issues: Couldn't get any of the TVs to work (though it was kinda nice not to have TV on), couldn't get the pot belly stove to work. The smoke alarm on the top floor was beeping when we came in, so we had to climb up on a chair and take it down to remove the battery. There were sheets left in the dryer from the previous renter, but we took them out and completed one of our loads of laundry. All that said, none of this hampered our stay and we would consider staying there again for our 2024 retreat.

I liked the property in the pines. It was pretty quiet. We went to a wedding in Dorrington that was 15 mins away.

This is a great cabin not too far (7-miles) from downtown Murphy’s. The home was comfortable and family friendly. The “game room” is a nice added benefit.

HC's DN 2022 Review
The property was as advertised. Very neat and comfortable. The kitchen was adequate. I brought several additional items for our meal preparations that were necessary. Overall everyone (8) was pleased and would like to return next year.

No power or hot water
We lost power within hours of arrival and had no hot water. Fortunately the unit had a gas stove. However no emergency supplies and no contact before or during stay despite numerous attempts via email and phone. We left a day short of our stay due to trees falling on homes and additional power lines. We had rented a 4 wheel jeep or we would still be stuck there. The weather impacted are stay but we were frustrated no one from Evolve attempted to contact us. There are no power outage emergency supplies. We were able to dig through drawers and found one well used bic lighter. There were also only 2 small decorative candles for light and 0 lanterns. I might have given this another star if we had at least been contacted. We have used VRBO numerous times and have always given 5 stars. At this point in time I would not recommend without some updates, emergency equipment and a company that communicates with guests.

Family Getaway
Better than we expected. Interior matched the surrounding area. Family feel like, cabin in the woods. Definitely would rent again next time we come up here to visit friends and family. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home!!!

Mountain Home
We enjoyed are stay in this home very much. The description was accurate. The sleeping situation was great, and the beds were very nice. There were games and DVD to entertain us. We didn't have children with us, but there were lots of play things. The garage game room is very nice. The home is close to the Hwy 4 roadway and some folks might not like the noise factor. The cute and historic town of Murphys is only 7 miles down the road. The noise factor did not bother us. Thank you to the home owner for sharing their home!

Pros and Cons...
There were many wonderful things about staying at this cabin! There were also disappointments.
First, the PROS: The house had plenty of space for us (four adults and one teen) and we could have easily added a couple more people without a problem. We loved the living room with the gas stove - it was warm, cozy and spacious. We also loved the sleeping arrangements. Everyone felt very comfortable in the beds. The king size bed on the first floor was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in recently. It was also nice to have the deck - we spent a lot of time out there (despite the sounds of the freeway, which I'll get to.) The house was very clean and the bathrooms and kitchen were updated, which was nice. So, lots of positives...
The CONS: The house is just up the hill from Highway 4! You can hear the cars zooming by while you are sitting on the deck. You can also hear the cars if you have windows open in the house. The living room overlooks the highway and so does one of the bedrooms upstairs. The other problem was the "gameroom" in the garage. We were so excited to spend some quality time playing games together in there. The reality was it was in a total shambles. The air hockey tables and the ping pong table were unusable. There was a dart board with no usable darts. There was water damage on both air hockey tables and the ping pong table and there were no usable paddles or balls. We would have bought our own if the table was worth using. So that was a huge disappointment for us. And lastly, the kitchen was stocked in a very weird way. There was not one drinking glass! They only had a small array of plastic cups that were not in great shape. They had some good, newer non-stick frying pans, but the other pots were pretty old and yucky.
So, overall, we enjoyed our stay in this cabin. I do think it is important to note both the pros and cons, though.

Nice get away, close to lakes/river/caverns, etc
We enjoyed our stay. The kids toys were a happy discovery for our kids. Garage "game room" was a disappointment for the kids, the air hockey tables and the ping pong balls had seen better days. The kids played outside and enjoyed the area around the cabin. Warning: there is a covered large hole on the property. A bit concerning for the smaller kids but we kept an eye on everyone. The older kids thought it was just a fun part of the adventure. Overall the home was warm, welcoming and every thing that had been described. The bunk bed room was a hit.

The house is amazing! comfortable and has everything you need. I would absolutely stay there again.
The yard is clean but no real space outside. It does have a large deck with a table for six and gas barbq, which is very nice! the garage/gameroom is a ton of fun and perfect for young and old alike!

Birthday party for my daughter
I brought my daughter and her friends up for 3 days to celebrate her birthday. Perfect cabin for that! They all shared one room and had plenty of beds and space. We played lots of games and went to a great swimming spot underneath the caverns. It was very cool! Be prepared for about a 2 mile hike to get there. Loved this place and plan to come back!

Perfect Thanksgiving in the SNOW!
Previous reviews of this property convinced me to book this wonderful place for our annual Thanksgiving get-away and I'm glad I did. My wife and I were joined by my daughter, her husband and two late-teen sons and another adult grandson. Everyone loved their beds, the kitchen was fully stocked with every imaginable utensil and lots of spices, etc. The living room was both large and cozy, which seems like a contradiction but it was perfect for all of us when we wanted to watch a movie or football game together. The game room was used a lot, playing ping pong and air hockey and even though it was unseasonably cold with tons of snow outside, the propane heater did a great job of keeping us comfortable.
When we arrived, I had to walk down the driveway in 1 to 2 feet of snow because the gate appeared to be locked with a padlock for which I didn't have a combination. I trudged down the hill, sometimes up to my upper thighs in snow, heading to the house, found the lock box, got the key and opened the door....no electricity! The recent storm had caused a power outage. I called Lois and found out that the gate wasn't really locked and that the chain/lock was just draped across the metal post, appearing to be locked. She encouraged me to open the gate and drive down the snow-covered driveway in my GMC 4X4 truck, since it was new snow and no ice involved. My wife and 2 of our grandsons got out and walked down while I drove down, no problem. Although getting out 3 days later was not quite as easy!! (another story, but again, this was an anomaly weather-wise and we had fun shoveling snow).
Well, after contacting PG&E, we were told that they hoped to have the power restored within a few hours and it did come on about 2 hours after we arrived. No problems after that.
My daughter, her husband and other son arrived later in the evening with their Jeep, which handled the driveway with no problems. After that, just lots of fun, games, movies, etc. A truly wonderful Thanksgiving. Lois and her secretary were very helpful when we had to call a couple times with questions, like where were the snow shovels. Snow of any kind, at this elevation and this early in the season is very rare, much less the deluge that the storm brought to the entire Sierra range. So, while it was unexpected and challenging, I loved the adventure and we had a terrific White Thanksgiving!

GREAT - needs more lighting for night check-ins
This place is AMAZING once you get in. We got there after sundown and I almost broke a leg running to each door trying to find the lock box for key to the house. Once in, we actually tripped the alarm because there was not a really clear indication for location of alarm panel....which first led us to the panel for the light and fan of downstairs living room and then to the thermostat and FINALLY to the alarm panel at the other end of the house. ALL-IN-ALL, it was a great stay. Super clean. Bring all extras for bare essentials. It is a smaller town outside of a small town. Next closest place for 1st world human existence is Angel's Camp (abount 40 minutes away) if roads are not closed due to construction/inclement weather. Pot belly stove never worked.

Clean and well appointed
This home suited the needs of my family for a reunion. We didn't spend much time at the home, as our family lives nearby. I thought that when the home described having AC, that it would be central air. Instead, it was a wall mounted unit in the living room. It was hot. The beds are not terribly comfortable.
Overall, we appreciated being in the location!

Upscale cabin close to Hwy 4
This is the second year we have rented this “cabin” for Frog Jumps weekend. We rode in on motorcycles and had a great time. Beds are comfortable, great decor, well appointed kitchen with some staples available. The porch has nice furniture and a propane grill. It’s everything you want for a mountain get-away. The driveway is a bit steep but paved and manageable. Neighbors were friendly. Close to many attractions. Elevation low enough that we had no snow on our wet weekend. Happy! We will rent this property again.

Great location but you'll need a vacation afterwards!
Hathaway Pines and surrounding areas were beautiful but the cabin….just fine. First impression, the home was in a nice corner lot, clean and nicely presented. Instructions were clearly written for home access, alarm etc.
After disarming, upon entering there was an annoying beeping sound. We discovered it was the smoke detectors batteries, 1 was past due and 1 was pulled out of ceiling. Luckily we found batteries in the storage closet, found a chair to stand on and replaced them. Nice cozy set up, plenty of space, cute decor and plenty of available things plus some. Pot belly stove was a nice touch. Kitchen had all essentials plus some, however some of the cabinets were a nightmare of disorganization and some of the supplies desperately needed replacement. Nice upgraded countertops & bath. Fridge door had a hinge issue and made a loud 'POP' each time you open it and filter light was on for changing (water tasted horrible) and we ALSO changed that! BYOW, after changing filter the water was still horrible.Oven nobs old, needed replacement and oven was dirty. Linen cabinets were a disaster, towels and sheets tossed in, clearly whomever cleans the place didn't take the time and care to nicely fold and organize, made us wonder how clean things were. Bed was a bit soft for our taste, low quality pillows and towels. Shower temp only got to luke warm…burr! Downstairs toilet runs, we also fixed that! Clocks were way off...we changed those too! Couch felt like a deflating raft and forget about watching TV. A sea of Xfinity channels but there was only 4 available (after having to sift through them all to find them). DVD selections were nice but none were to our liking. SPIDERS! Downstairs near and in the bathroom…ugh! NO PHONE SERVICE WHATSOEVER!! Be prepared to get a VOIP for emergency or to make calls! Great WIFI though…Not much of a view, the highway is along side the home so it can get noisy. Favorite places, Calveras park, Red Apple, Murphy's Pizza Co. Downtown Murphy’s, Grounds, Drive up to a winter wonderland in Bear Valley, Gorgeous! During our stay we emailed the landlord regarding some issues, however we didn’t hear back. Upon leaving we had to make time for all the cleaning “chores” and prep we were asked to do. Make time for that! Made us wonder what the cleaning fee was for. For all of the things we had to fix/replace we felt that we needed another vacation! Overall, not worth the heavy price plus many hidden fees!
