About this cottage rental
The Captain's Cottage is where it all started. Back in the late 1940's my grandparents and great grandparents bought this home and the vision of Holiday Hill came to be. This historic cottage features a Master bedroom with King bed and in room full bath. The other side of the home features a second bedroom with a second full bath just outside the door complete with washer and dryer as well for longer stays. In the living space the sofa pulls out into a memory foam queen. In the foyer area, two large arm chairs pull out into two twin beds perfect for the kids.
This home features a very large kitchen complete and ready to cook large meals in. A full dining table accompanies a smaller breakfast nook. In addition there is a private back patio facing the forest. In the front yard you have a beer garden with corn hole or "bags." For the cooler fall nights there is a fully functioning gas fireplace.
For a two bedroom this one has a lot of space. It's an open concept floo

Our group of three 60-something year olds had a great time at the top of the hill overlooking downtown Saugatuck! The rental was clean, ready, and the people and Staff we interacted with work cordial and polite! I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing and chill time in southwestern Michigan!

We four adults enjoyed your comfortable accommodations, which were exactly as listed!

We appreciated the spaciousness of this place and the comfortable beds including the pull out beds! We cooked a few meals at the place which was easy to do. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a great time spent in a beautiful setting!

We very much enjoyed our stay. We had kids and adults with plenty of room for everyone. Pretty much 2 master suites which was perfect for 2 families. A huge walk-in area and really loved the back deck. Very clean and was just as advertised. There are a lot of stairs! Be ready for that :)
Our only negative was the Beachway Resort and the woman at the front desk - really all the other employees there were fantastic, she was not to say the least.
Right as I walked in, the woman immediately started scolding me for having a boat in tow, I had to calm her down and let her know we weren't keeping it there but just drove 3 hours and wanted to get the kids to our VRBO before my husband took the boat to the marina down the street. A very short time later, as we were hiking the huge amount of stairs to bring our luggage up she made a rude comment that we brought too much (which we didn't at all - I wore every piece of clothing and ran out of kids clothes) and should have brought only a helmet. She could have nicely told us about the luggage carrier on the other side of the resort area instead. Finally, when we checked-in she gave us 1 parking slip. I told her we are in the big house and have 2 cars. She said that its fine just have the other car park in the parking lot as long at there is room (this was on Friday.) On Monday morning I happened to take a call outside and my friend's car was being towed away! We were able to stop the tow truck but at that time my friends had to deal with a tow truck, a police officer and the rude woman again who had called to have the car towed from a place we paid to stay at. One of the most unfortunate hotel workers I've ever encountered.

Great Property!
We rented The Captain’s Cottage for a 40th birthday girls weekend! Nick, the property manager, was quick to respond to questions and also dropped in to welcome us and see if we needed anything! The pool was great. The property is very close to town with a ferry across the street. They aren’t lying about the stairs! Be prepared to climb. We had a great experience!

As our visit was pre-seazon, the staff was busy preparing for the summer rush. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated Nick's quick reply to my booking request.

Holiday Hill is a wonderful spot. Private pool shared by a few units. Best of both worlds in Saugatuck: pool and the beach. Have stayed here several times and look forward to coming back!

Quick Getaway
The property was clean and within walking distance of ferry to take you downtown to tons of great restaurants and shops. Short 30 sec drive to Oval Beach. Would stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was spacious, clean and in a great location for access to the beach and town via the unique chain ferry. The pool and access to coffee, snacks at the hotel property were a bonus. All of the folks we encountered were helpful and friendly. The nearby city of Holland was also worth the visit.

Excellent All Around!
We've been renting VRBO's for over 15 years, this was the cleanest and best kept property we can remember! The staff was very friendly, the house spotless and the grounds very well kept. Ideal location to walk to the beach and ferry across the river to downtown. Awesome!

The perfect getaway
First of all, you couldn't ask for a better location. You are literally 2 minutes from Oval beach(which is perfect for me), also a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the chain ferry which brings you right into downtown. Nick's cottage was perfect, extremely spacious and had all the comforts of home. I actually loved that it was at the very top of the hill, despite all of those steps, it was great exercise! I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone. Thank you Nick!

Great property, close to everything, great staff!
We traveled to the Lake with our two boys (4 and 2) and stayed in Glen Arbor before coming down to Saugatuck. The place was lovely and our favorite - it is larger than it looks in the pictures, if that's possible. Very roomy inside, we definitely could've had more people stay with us. The staff was responsive and so friendly. The back deck was under the trees and the boys were excited to see some deer - surprisingly not buggy, so we ate on the deck plenty. The pool area was also great for the kids. Comfortable beds, roomy kitchen. The beach is literally a two minute drive, and the town of Saugatuck is really nice and right across the river.
Lots of stairs to climb, and the driveway is a little steep and tight. Another downside for our family was that there is currently no recycling service (we saw Nick at the pool and he explained how the town's program works - they don't make it an easy process).
Would absolutely visit here again - loved this place.

Great Saugatuck getaway
Our family had a great time here. The kids loved the pool which we had to ourselves most of the time. We also walked to and hiked up Mt Baldhead and over to the beach. The house was clean, well maintained, and was supplied with all the little things that make renting a place easier (dish soap, toiletries, etc.). We even enjoyed a rainy day inside watching an old VHS tape of Annie. It was a 10 minute drive to downtown Saugatuck and nice to be a bit removed from the downtown area. The staff there was also really friendly and helpful. Overall a great getaway!

Lovely getaway
This property exceeded my expectations - a picturesque view of the lake on top of a wooded hill. The cottage was extremely clean with a helpful staff and a well appointed kitchen. The kids loved spending time in the pool and riding the chain ferry to downtown Saugatuck. We loved the relaxing wooded balcony and the nearby scenic trails and beach. This location was definitely a winner as our family sought a peaceful and safe getaway during this unprecedented time.

Saugatuck Getaway
Wed had a great stay in Saugatuck. This property is a great value for all the living space it offers. It is a bit of a hike up a hill but offers a great view. The kind lady at check-in personally walked me to the unit and made sure we got inside successfully. The pool was well kept, the condo was really clean and the views were great. A 5 minute drive to the beach and a short drive into downtown Saugatuck made this an ideal place to retreat to for a few days. We hope to be back!

Holiday Hill
This was our second stay at Holiday Hill. This time we stayed in the Captains Cottage and it was Excellent. Plenty of space, privacy and cleanliness. Nick was great with working with us on our check in days. The pool was clean and in excellent condition. The views here are absolutely amazing. You can watch the boats and hear the bands from the pool patio. The location couldn't be better as the chain bridge is a block away and oval beach is a 1 minute car ride. Thanks Nick. We will be returning soon for sure.

Cute place for a longer stay
Property is pretty good. It’s got an up north feel for sure. Smells like a cabin, but it’s cute. For the price we paid, I would have expected a little more (we paid over $600 per night). Really uncomfortable/older beds and the pool was pretty dirty. There are a ton of stairs but that is noted. It’s not super convenient as you have to take the ferry to get anywhere. It’s a long process to walk all the stairs and then jump on a ferry that only runs until 7:30pm every night. Overall it’s a good spot, but only if you’re planing on a longer stay and can get a better price. They have board games, dishes and cooking supplies if you plan on a longer stay which is really convenient.
