Loved the location but the cleanliness of the home was not up to par for a Kiawah stay. When we moved some furniture to look for a dropped item the amount of dust and food under the sofas was disturbing. The kitchen is not equipped with all the amenities. The pots and pans need updating along with the utensils and the baking dishes and sheet pans.
Other than that it is an ideal spot for your next vacation. Hopefully these things can be rectified before our next stay in August.

We had a wonderful time. Between the beach and the trails, we were in heaven!
The property was mostly great. The dishwasher does a lousy job and is dirty. 2 small spoons is not enough. Everything else was pretty fabulous!!

Reviewer Comments:
We loved the location. The cottage could have been a little cleaner. Most of the lamps had dust on them and one of the smaller bedrooms had sand on top of the night stand. The couch was terrible. The sectional wouldn't stay together and it was very uncomfortable and dirty. The cottage needs rugs at the doors- I finally put down beach towels so we wouldn't track in sand. Loved the gas stove in the kitchen and the bathrooms were nice. I would recommend using an electric blower at least weekly on the deck.

Nice neat cottage just a short block from beach entrance. Outdoor shower a plus. Enjoyed a week of many walks on the beach morning, afternoon and in the evening moonlight. Nice Kiawah option. We had six and had plenty of space.

Lovely but cleaning missed the mark.
This was a lovely cottage. It was nicely decorated, spacious, and had all of the appropriate amenities (except basics household products like trash bags, dish soap, and paper towels). Its location to the beach could not be beaten. It was the perfect size for a couple but would also very comfortably fit a family of 6 or so. The only ding we have about our stay is that the housekeeping needed a lift. We were made to believe by references to “COVID cleaning” that this rental would be spotless. It was not. We found dirty pots and pans stored away in the cabinets and the shower curtain in the guest bathroom had visible mold and mildew. These are really easy fixes, and issues that put a slight damper on an otherwise wonderful experience.

Great location, dated decor and vibe
Loved the location. The kitchen was very nice but not well appointment with kitchen equipment, for example, bowls, platters, utensils. Needed a lot more cleaning supplies, TP, dish soap, garbage bags. Linens were old and shabby.

Good location but poor management as well as poorly maintained property
We love staying at this part of an island. With kids-can’t beat the location. However there were major issues with check in as well as condition of the property. Check in: we arrived earlier on the day of the check in and property was vacant for few days before our arrival . Vacasa told us that because of coronavirus they are following new enhanced cleaning procedures and early check in not available. Fine. However at 4:00pm(official check in time) no one has even started cleaning the property. We called and they were fast to send the cleaning crew but they did a poor job cleaning , no one wore a mask or gloves and we had to wait with two kids past check in time. When finally inside : outside shower hasn’t been cleaned of debris for a very long time, same for the deck. All kitchen supplies needed to be rewashed. Few roaches. Gas range broke, freezer started leaking , dishwasher started leaking (Also has mold that I hand cleaned) and AC broke down during our stay. Management was quick to fix everything but this is way too many things for one stay. Plus you have to wait on hold when calling vacasa and all contractors they sent - NOT a single one wore a mask or gloves. I found this very disturbing. Overall it’s a great location but Vacasa poorly managed check in process, didn’t clean properly and timely and had too many issues with condition of the property As well as the way they managed their contractors in the midst of pandemic.

Wonderful home, beautiful time!
We loved the outdoor shower and the deck, also the setup of the house was really convenient. And the walk to the beach was not far at all.
There’s not anything to complain about, but it you are going to make improvements- maybe an electric teapot (not a kettle) and a few beds were a little squeaky- no big deal!

I really can’t find anything negative to say about this property! Our whole group was thrilled about our stay.

Wonderful Cottage
We have been staying at Kiawah every summer for years. This was our first time using VRBO and our cottage was delightful! Just a very short walk to the beach and a nicely appointed cottage made for a wonderful vacation.. We hope to be back! Would have given five stars except for the following:
-Front door lock was extremely hard to use. Needs to be fixed or replaced. Frustrating.
-coffee maker leaks
-please add blinds or curtains either on screened porch or sliding doors to porch for privacy! The next cottage is so close and their window looking into our porch/dining area was always open. Annoying!

Higher expectations
After reading previous reviews, I honestly had higher expectations than what was delivered.
Pro’s:
- It was VERY close to the beach (walk about 5 houses down, cross the street and the boardwalk access is right there)
- close to bike paths that lead to Night Heron Park
- Good floorplan, plenty of seating and screened in porch
-Washer/Dryer came in handy
Con’s:
- Had bug issues from day 1 in which Vacasa resolved but not as quickly as I hoped. (Bug guy was great)
- Was not thoroughly cleaned (felt it was rushed as the floors, mirrors and countertops felt nasty)
- Even though it says it’s recently been renovated, it needs a refresh (couches had stains, towel bar broke during stay when we barely touched it, door sticks in one of the bedrooms, etc). Small stuff but still noticeable.
Besides the bug and cleanliness issues we enjoyed staying there. Hope they can resolve the issues above because we’d be more comfortable staying there again in the future if they do.

Beautiful and quaint
Absolutely loved staying in the Kiawah community. The home was beautiful, upgraded, close access to beach, and accommodated the whole group even with younger kids. We enjoyed having girl time with our children but will definitely be returning with our families, respectively. The younger kids enjoyed our morning beach walks and finding whole sea shells. The only issue was the towns accommodations. Most restaurants closed by 9 and could not accommodate our group; however, we drove into Folly for dinner and enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

Lovely house and helpful local Vacasa personnel
This is the third or fourth time we've stayed in this house - first time since managed by Vacasa. The house is very comfortable and well-equipped. One thing we wish for is more privacy with blinds or curtains to cover the large glass sliding door at the dining area; the house next door was occupied, and they could see everything in the dining area. Before check-in, we were told the key would be under the mat, and we were not given the lockbox code. When we arrived after dark, the keys were not under the mat; we had to call Portland, and fortunately they had the code. We want to give kudos to MaryBeth and Emily at the local Vacasa office. MaryBeth promptly saw that we had blankets for upcoming cold nights. We had a package delivered to the local office, and Emily was very diligent in tracking it down for us. We hope to stay here again next year.

Great location, nice little house
We love staying in Oceanwoods, and this location on Sea Lavendar is fantastic - a short walk to the beach, easy bike ride to town center, the tennis center, and the Sanctuary. The house has been fairly recently redone and is fairly bright and nicely furnished. Nice big round table on the screen porch that can easily six six, and a nice big dining table. The kitchen has a nice gas range, and a nice frig/freezer with in the door ice and water, and a reasonable amount of cookware. The house seems fairly well cared for, although it could have used a thoroughly cleaning before our arrival - fair amount of sand on the floors, the window blinds were pretty dusty, there were a number of light bulbs out, and the towel bar in the "hall" bath was broken. All minor problems, and the good far outweighed the bad - we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
