About this farm stay rental
This is your spacious and historic getaway home! Only 2.5 miles from interstate 91, it's 175 acres of secluded property with magnificent views.
The Justus Buchler House is the perfect spot whether you are honeymooning, traveling with a few friends or a rollicking party of ten! If you want to ski, mountain bike, go sledding, swimming, hiking or just tool around on an ATV this is your area.
Want to do those things on a large scale? Snow machines can enter the famous VAST trail right at the edge of my property. Kingdom Trail is a challenge for mountain bikers, and you enter the trail just a few miles from my house in East Burke. Skiers will like Burke Mountain Ski Resort just eight miles away, and Jay Peak, also very close by. You are also welcome to hunt on my property in season, and temporary licenses can be obtained in Lyndonville, just 5 miles away.
You can do any kind of fishing, including ice fishing on lakes Willoughby and Memphermagog. My neighbor has given me some huge salmon over the years from those lakes. Another idea is to just go into my lower woods and try Fall Brook, a very good stream that yields big native trout!
This 200 year old farmhouse, has been in my family for over 75 years. My mom and dad bought it in 1943 in the first year of their marriage, and paid ten dollars an acre, plus 500.00 for the shack. There is photo documentation in an album there on how they transformed it into their lovely summer home over the years.
If you like historic old properties, you will adore this one. The funny, out-of-square aspect it never fails to bring smiles. The home kind of hugs you with history. Downstairs has two bedrooms, both queen beds, and one with a TV. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms: two that will sleep a single person, one with twin beds, and another with a double bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances and lots of dishware. One table in the living room seats 6, and you can put 4 at the kitchen table. Seat 6 weather permitting, at the picnic table. There is a new washer/dryer combo in the laundry room and I have added a dishwasher!
Plenty of animals on my property. Moose, bear, deer and fox are often seen, and you can bet on seeing groundhogs, porcupine and raccoons too.
And finally, Vermonters are just the best. Welcoming and relaxed, most are used to carving out a hard living in a tough climate. You will have a wonderful vacation.

Great time with friends. We loved the house, though the I wish I had known it was off a dirt road. Otherwise, outstanding!

We enjoyed our stay at Kate’s house. If the house owner is good then everything is good. Kate we would love to come back again.

I stayed at this house with 6 of my family members, we were in the area for a wedding. Kate was extremely responsive, very helpful and generous. The house was clean and comfortable, fully stocked with everything you might need. The property is huge and gorgeous, there is a lot to explore around the house. There is tons of space to run around in which was especially fun for my daughter. The house is historic and is very charming. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to my friends.

Excellent stay, Beautiful location
This home, surrounded by over 170 acres of farmland, sits near the top of a hill overlooking the mountains in the distance. The farmhouse is neat and tidy, filled with comfortable furniture and more than enough room for our family of six adults. Kate, the owner, was very kind and helpful when i called about the property asking if there was a gas grill available, and wood for the fire pit. She gave detailed information and was wonderfully welcoming!
The property was easy to find. The farmhouse was situated on a stunning hillside, surrounded by farmland. Last evening, we walked around the farm field behind the house, enjoyed a fantastic meal of steaks on the grill and finished the lovely evening around the roaring fire in the fire pit. This morning the six of us sat around the round dining table in the living room eating blueberry pancakes, with a view of the mountains out the window. Treasured moments with my family, the fall leaves brilliant in the sunny blue sky, surrounded by beauty everywhere you look. Thank you for sharing your home with us, Kate!

Lovely slice of history
We had a great weekend here, mostly focused on riding the Kingdom Trails and swimming at Crystal Lake. The house was a great place to come back to after a day of adventure. The kids loved exploring the bedrooms and all the various pieces of furniture and possessions dating back 50, 100, 150 years. The backyard was also lovely, and we enjoyed running around back there. The kitchen certainly works for preparing meals, but it’s not very updated, so we kept the cooking light. Perfect if you’re interested in staying in a cozy, historical piece of VT’s history.

Fourth of July
This property was the perfect spot for a group of friends to spend a long weekend together for the Fourth. Kate was very responsive to my questions and everything was as advertised. The rooms were comfortable, the yard was expansive, and the fire pit was the perfect accessory. Would certainly come back.

Beautiful, sprawling home filled with character
Our stay at the Justus Buchler house was incredibly relaxing! Located down a dirt road, with plenty of privacy and a huge yard in a country setting. There is even a farm stand on the corner when you turn off the main road towards the house. The bedrooms are all huge and spread out for lots of privacy if traveling with other couples/kids/co-workers. The kitchen is fully equipped with every dish and appliance you could possibly need. There are plenty of linens in the bathrooms and extra sheets and blankets in the bedrooms. There is a warm, homey feel to the property that brings you back to a simpler time. I would definitely recommend staying here, and look forward to returning again myself! Thank you so much, Kate, for being such an incredible host!

Perfect house to enjoy nature and the mountains
We were 10 people from Quebec who were going to Vermont for mountain biking and we really enjoyed our stay. It was only a 15 minutes car ride so we were close to the kingdom trails. The house is enormous and there is everything you need for cooking, shower, sleep, etc. The field at the back of the house is really big so we played football and soccer. We did a bbq and enjoyed a good meal at the beautiful sunset at the back of the house.
The owner of the house was also really nice and she answered really fast to my questions and email.
We will rent it again next year for sure!
