About this house rental
This charming Two-level Victorian is spacious and has been built in 2018. Although Victorian homes have been part of Black Hills history since miners started building mining towns—there are only two in Hill City. Only one is available for rent. Set in downtown, walking distance from everything, this two-story, 1400-square-foot, narrow-gauge memory-maker puts you right where the action is. Newly constructed in 2018, it’s immaculate and modern inside. Sleeps 4 adults with two king-size bedrooms, two full baths, full kitchen, and two turrets—one for the living room and the other for dining—allow this charmer to sleep four. Enjoy the outside covered patio/dining area, along with handy, off-street parking for four cars. Owners live nearby, and someone can usually be there within 30 minutes—often less. The house is stocked with linens, pots and pans, dishes, and small appliances. Grocery store and Dollar General are located within two-minutes’ drive. Check-in is at 3:00. check- in can be flexible at times. We want you to love your visit as much as we love our town. We’re pretty sure you’ll be back. THE HILL CITY EXPERIENCE Let’s get you acclimated with what “downtown” means. Two doors down is a bicycle rental/fix-it shop, which helps you get to 109 miles of the Mickelson Trail, right across the street. In less than a minute’s walk, you can ride the state’s only steam-powered passenger train, visit the South Dakota State Railroad Museum, the world’s largest private fossil research facility and museum, four art galleries and specialty shops, two adventure shops, chocolate and ice cream parlors, one wine-tasting room, and several stores with a wide variety of goods. You also have your choice of tourist-oriented fare, including Black Hills Gold. Within three minutes’ walk, you have your choice of seven restaurants. Just outside the pedestrian district, and within a few miles in each direction, there are even more specialty shops, wineries and tasting rooms, saloons, and more. Hill City…it’s a thing. FURTHER Visitors can park in the driveway and stay put for their whole trip—or hit the road to one of the area’s natural attractions. Roger Brooks, nationally-known branding expert, has called the Black Hills area the nation’s most “attractive” place—when it comes to the number of things to do. Don’t forget Custer State Park to Devil’s Tower, Black Elk Peak, the Needle’s Highway, or our area caves, including Jewel Cave, with the third-longest passages in the world. Explore agate-hunting beds, go fishing, hunting, hiking, horse-back riding, biking, snowmobiling, ATVing, and whatever else you can think of. Keep in mind that the Secretary of Tourism has called Hill City the state’s arts mecca, which has contributed to its reputation. This gives Hill City its own “experience,” and allows it to stand out from other small towns and villages in the region. With its position in the middle of the Black Hills, it provides easy access to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorials (each 15 minutes away), and Deadwood to the north and Hot Springs to the south (each 45 to 60 minutes away, depending on traffic). You’ll also meet thousands of motorcycle riders in early August, attendees of the world’s largest bike rally—but that can get a little loud. Other sounds include the steam train whistle from across the street, and an artistic chainsaw artist who works in the afternoons across the alley. There are also musicians who play on the street, along with summer festivals and events. Check the Chamber of Commerce website for details.

Four of us stayed in this adorable house for four nights. On opening the door, the house smelled SO fresh and clean! Everything was nicely appointed and SO clean! The beds were super comfortable, showers large, and the bath towels thick and fluffy! We enjoyed both the front and back porch areas. The owners responded very quickly to questions and check-in and out was flawless. Highly recommend this charming place!!!

My kids and I are from Deadwood. This home is beautiful and perfect little get away for us. It was so clean and had everything we needed. It was perfect to walk to Main Street and shop and eat. 1880 Train was right across the street and we enjoyed that attraction too. We also rented E-bikes and ride the Mickelson Trail. It was the perfect weekend. We weren’t ready to come home.i would highly recommend staying here.

We had a wonderful vacation in Hill City. This VRBO was one of the best we've stayed in. It was perfect for 2 couples. It was spotless, very comfortable and in a great location. We would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to visit the Badlands and other historical attractions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Hill City and this home was the perfect spot for us! It’s a beautiful, immaculate home with updated features! Plenty of room for our family of four. It’s also in a great location to many shops and restaurants. It’s a nice little town in close proximity to all the sights within this part of South Dakota. The hosts took great care of us and messaged each day to ensure we were enjoying our stay. Highly recommend!

What a perfect place to stay! The house is charming, very clean and comfortable. Its location is ideal; in Hill City we walked everywhere we went. Other attractions in the area were an easy drive from the Victorian cottage. The owners messaged daily to ask if there was anything we needed. My granddaughter and I will always remember “our” sweet vacation home as central to the great memories we made in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota.

We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful house, great location for walking around downtown Hill City. There was a band one night, but they ended by 9p. Very close to everything - Needles hwy, Mt Rushmore, Custer, and Crazy Horse. Would definitely stay again.

Great property, Kim was a pleasure to work with. Property was very clean, close to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and Custer National Park as well as others. Made for a great base to work out of. Would definitely stay again.

First and foremost, this was THE CLEANEST VRBO I have ever stayed in - and I have stayed in many clean places! This was the perfect situation for two couples visiting the Black Hills area. It is very centrally located to all the beautiful and interesting sites in the area. There are no laundry facilities but we knew that going in so no surprises. There might be some traffic noise (mostly in the AM for some reason) but it was nothing that detracted from our stay. There are plenty of restaurants and cute shops within walking distance. I wish we had stayed a few more days to appreciate the area even more. We had a great stay!

We loved this place. Very clean and well stocked. Nice in town location near local restaurants and shops. Hill City is is a nice place to stay in the middle of many attractions. Local residents were friendly too. Our communication with the property manager was great and they offered good suggestions for restaurants. Would stay here again.

If you like clean this is your place. So centrally located, you are right where you need to be in the Black Hills. Hill City is a nice little gem. Not nearly as congested or busy as Keystone or Deadwood. This place is amazing. The linens are luxurious and the baths are clean beyond clean. Loved the location. So glad we were able to stay here. It was truly the perfect location and a beautiful well decorated house. Thanks for sharing

This was a wonderful home. Had bdrm, bthrm, kitchen and dining downstairs. Then a bdrm, bthrm, living room, with another small table/ chair’s upstairs.
It’s right across the old 1880 steam engine train. And it’s abt halfway between all the fun sight’s including Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. The hosts were quick to respond and it was so easy to get into the house and around the town. Everyone was so nice in town and all around the area in South Dakota. I would recommend definitely staying here again. The beds were very comfortable as well. And the neighbors always had some deer in their backyard to see. Wonderful place!

This property is within walking distance of the 1880 Train, a laundromat, gas station, the town, convenience store, and many restaurants. The grocery store is around the corner. Best location for: Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Custer State Park and more.

This home is walking distance to all shops and restaurants in town. It was immaculate and had two comfortable king size beds, which can be hard to find. We especially loved the wonderful bath towels! Baths are close to the bedrooms, but not en-suite. The house is on a frontage road along a busy street. Bedrooms are in the back, so traffic noise wasn’t an issue at night, but there isn’t a lot of privacy on the first floor from the street, alley, and neighbors. Kitchen is small but adequate for simple meals. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!

We loved our stay in Hill City. This Victorian home was super clean, had the perfect location, and was enjoyed by all in our group. You can walk to the Main Street that is only one street away.

Lovely Modern Victorian Home. Great attention to architectural detail. Super fresh and clean. Kim was great with communication and flexible. Centrally located for bike trail, train, restaurants, and shopping. Just leave your car and walk or ride your bike.

This house is very comfortable, extremely clean, comfortable beds and bedding, bathroom towels are so fluffy. The owners are very responsive when needed. We forgot a bag at the house and she offered to meet me halfway. Which I refused, but this was very kind of her. Hill City is within walking and the 1880 Train is across the street. It is very close to the Mickelson biking trail.

This lovely home was a perfect place for our needs; I stayed with a friend and we each had our own bedroom and bathroom (loved the large tiled showers and fluffy bath sheets). The place was impeccably clean and well appointed and the shared spaces (kitchen and living area) had ample and comfortable seating. The location can’t be beat; shopping, restaurants and the 1880 train right outside the door. We really appreciated being able to walk to everything. All the major sites are a short drive away, so convenient! Our hosts were very gracious and we had absolutely no issues with our stay. We highly recommend this property and would stay again.

We spent 7 nights in this house which is new, clean, and centrally located in the Black Hills in Hill City. It was perfect for our 2 couples group. Nicely furnished, with a full kitchen and a great upstairs living room for TV and board games. Restaurants are steps away, as is our favorite coffee place, The Caboose Coffee Co. E-bike rental shop is almost next door. The hosts are great: good communicators and friendly. We highly recommend staying here, you cannot go wrong. And staying in Hill City makes for easy day trips to all that the Black Hills offers. This property ranks high on our list of the several vrbo houses we've rented over the years.

We've stayed in the hills a lot and this was one of the best kept places we've stayed. Very clean! Perfect location and a lovely home. We both work remotely and this was our first time actually staying in town so we could assure our cell phones would work. It was a perfect place to work during the day and then explore the hills after work.

This house is so quiet and well-built. The hosts were very kind and accommodating as well. We'd love to stay here again should we visit in the future.

The property was a multi-level Victorian style residence accurate to time period of 1890’s with modern features- 1 bedroom lower and 1 bedroom upper. Ample room. 2 bathrooms with showers. This property is in an excellent location. Centrally located to all parks and monuments. My son and I used this location as our jumping point to all hiking trails. Ps-get a SD fishing license- 1 day, and try your luck on Sylvan Lake in Custer State Park- we used a yellow/red Panther Martin Teardrop spinners and caught our trout limit. This place is a 5 star location with 5 star features.
