About this apartment rental
A airy, and comfortable two bedroom getaway rental located just minutes from the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, in the cozy village of Burdett. Built in the 1890s, this was a hardware store until my grandfather closed it in the mid 1970s, converting it into three apartments. Cranberry Creek is the original name of the creek located at the far edge of the property that becomes Hector Falls. No matter your desired experience, we can help.
You will have full use of the getaway rental and outside seating areas. Feel free to peruse the grounds and gardens. Please remember that this is still my home, and I have another tenant. Use of the fire pit will be determined by myself based on weather and wind conditions.
I have traveled extensively world wide since 1992. My affiliation with the NYS wine industry started in 1991. Whether your preference is wine, beer, cider, food, parks, hikes, or music - I can help hand tailor an FLX experience for you. I am now semi-retired from the wine industry and also work full time for the local museum, but will make myself available to help and answer questions throughout your stay. I also have a book with self guided tours of every variety located in the getaway rental for your reference.
I have access to local meat, vegetable, and cheese producers. If you are looking for a ‘localvore’ driven experience, I can help. For a small additional fee upon arrival, you can have veggies from my garden in the fridge, a meat and cheese basket, or a cheese basket. Fresh local fruit is always available upon request, when in season. Just contact me, and we can arrange whatever you need. Otherwise, the Burdett Exchange (BEX) is open for one stop shopping of all things local!
Our village is small, yet has Mindful Inspirations for a self guided spa experience, Painted Bar Stables for trail rides, Hungry Burd for dinner, and H&E, the local bar with pool table and darts, all within a five minute walk! Just down the way is Elf and the Oak with great food and a favorite spot of the locals.

This is one of the nicest properties in which we've ever stayed. There were many special touches that we've never seen in other properties. We have many allergies but had no problems in this very clean property. It was very spacious, homey, and well-equipped. We would definitely stay here again when visiting the area.

This property was amazing. There were just two of us, however, there was plenty of room for a family. The location was convenient to Watkins Glen, Vineyards, and Ithaca was an easy ride. This made it easy to see many waterfalls, historic places (Mark Twain and Corning Glass were within an hour and an easy drive, as was Rose Hill Mansion in Geneva) In Ovid we stopped to see the 3 Bears and a nice history lesson. We were there a week! We climbed many stairs, walked many miles, saw 51 waterfalls in total ( although there were a few at Watkins Glen and Robert Treman State parks). Heather is extremely knowledgeable about the area and super easy to speak with. I would stay here again without a question. Very quiet and big backyard

This was accurately described and to fit our needs very well to explore the Finger Lakes area with our family. The location was perfect and Heather and Marty were wonderful hosts. I highly recommend!

We were pleased with our 2 night stay at this property. It was very clean with plenty towels, pillows, blankets. Plenty of dishes and cookware. The best thing was finding a Finger Lakes bottle of wine, goat cheese, local jam and delicious organic crackers waiting for us when we arrived. What a thoughtful touch! Loved the closeness to Watkins Glen State Park and other hiking areas. Drove 35 min to Corning Museum of Glass then had a nice dinner in Corning. Over all would highly recommend This property!

Nice property, includes produce from garden, lots of space in the back to room around. Very comfortable and quaint apt, well stocked. Host were excellent, very attentive and have this well-coordinated. The only small issue was that the bedrooms are right on the street, and even the beds in the bedrooms are close to that wall. Additionally the curtains let a fair amount of light in. So if you are sensitive to noise or light, it may be a consideration. After the 1st night, we were ok. Other than that, highly recommended and we would stay there again.

Our family was looking for a close place to stay while attending the NASCAR race. This location was approximately 15 minutes from the track and was lovely.

Great location. We enjoyed our stay. The house and bed were comfortable. We would stay again. My only critique is that there was way too much aur freshener. It was overwhelming. Other than that very enjoyable. Perfect location for hiking.

We really felt like we found a gem here. The Village of Burdett is charmingly small and beautiful, but still had everything we needed within minutes. Heather’s place has been our favorite so far- clean, comfortable and homey. Our kids loved having some space to run and play. On top of that, Heather showed us around herself and generously offered the fire pit, raspberries off the bush and other garden offerings. You can truly tell the pride of ownership in this place and we felt lucky to be a part of it for a short time.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Exceptionally clean, well maintained with great amenities. Location convenient and close to wineries. The concierge welcome on arrival added a personal touch. Would definitely book again.

Enjoyed our stay during the weekend of the 6-hour IMSA Watkins Glen race. Close enough to town to go for dinner without much hassle. Quiet, relaxing and a nice place to rest.

I stayed here with my family for a few days, and it really felt like a home away from home. They met me and oriented me at check-in, but beyond that, if I was ever looking for something, I easily found it. The place was clean, and cozy, and well decorated, and close to so many things. I would definitely stay here again.

This was our first trip to the Finger Lakes region and as it was part of a larger trip we could only stay two nights. Takeaways: 1.Wish we stayed longer. 2. Cranberry Creek was the perfect choice! Heather’s property is perfectly situated for traveling Seneca Lake wineries and less than 10 minutes into Watkins Glen. She has thought of everything to make her guests comfortable in this comfy home away from home. We were even encouraged to harvest from her garden and we took full advantage of that by making veggie omelets both mornings we were there! Our stay was ideal; highly recommend. Thanks Heather!

My friend I travel with was askance when I told her we were staying in 'someone's house'. She kept saying we should go to a hotel but since I stayed at Heather's place in June on a cousins' trip I knew my friend would love it. Sure enough, it took her 30 seconds to feel totally at home. The home itself is great, the location is great (this trip we added Corning Museum of Glass and Watkins Glen State Park, both easy rides from Heather's place) to the trip in addition to wineries. There have been no disappointments on either my June stay and this one. In fact, we've all been raving so much, another cousin and his wife are planning a wine tour and hoping to stay here.

Out of all the houses/apartments I have ever rented from Vrbo this was by far the best one. Not only was the house perfect but Heather went way above and beyond to provide more than what we need and totally made us feel out home. 5 stars for Heather!

My wife said it best - - "the place felt like home."
Heather was incredibly gracious! She doesn't treat "the little things" like little things. She definitely takes pride in what she does.

Wonderful getaway. Very comfortable, clean with full amenities. I was travelling to meet family who rented a cottage 5 mins. away. Very close to wineries and breweries. Able to enjoy out door eating, drinking and local musicians/jazz band. Had Sunday breakfast at nearby “The Elf in the Oak” which offered great breakfast sandwiches and Best home made cinnamon buns ever!

Heather was an exceptional host. Wine, cheese, jam and crackers were waiting for us. Everything you could need was stocked in the home. She was communicating through out our stay and making sure we had the best of time.

The place was great! Heather and Marti were welcoming to the home which was spacious and comfortable with enough space for my cousins and me. They provided so much information on the area that our vacation practically wrote itself. The grounds were beautiful and we loved seeing the chipmunk and woodchuck. Sadly we didn't see the fox as he had sense enough to hide out from us.

Another wonderful weekend getaway! This is the second time staying at Heather’s place. The property is very homey and comfortable. We enjoyed the wine and cheese & meat board. It is in close proximity to many wineries and breweries with great food. We enjoyed the campfire both days and another chance to see her two canine friends. We’ll definitely stay again next year!

Cranberry Creek Homestead is a former hardware store; if you go to the nearby BBQ joint, you can see a photo of the building as it looked in 1911. The 2-bedroom wing is spacious, sparkling clean, and very comfortable. The kitchen may be the best-equipped of any rental I have stayed in (plates, glasses, flatware, knives and other implements, etc.). And Heather thoughtfully left wine from Red Newt Cellars, goat cheese from Lively Run dairy, and local crackers for us to snack on.
The beds and linens and towels were very comfortable, and the bathroom closet again reflected Heather's thoughtfulness: if you forgot anything and didn't find it in the closet, you probably didn't need it in the first place. :-) There's also ample entertainment: TV, DVDs, Roku, board games, and a baby groundhog who lives under a building in the garden out back.

Enjoyed the accomodations very much. Unit was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. Would stay again if I'm in the area again.

With the Nor'Easterner that was passing through, our gracious host kept us informed of current weather and road conditions during our drive up to Seneca Lake. Upon our arrival, we decided to relax in our very clean, comfortable, and spacious VRBO because of the storm, and Heather's thoughtfulness of having a nice bottle of wine, cheese, and crackers waiting for us made for a pleasant and relaxing evening.
The following morning the skies opened up and the sun was shining as a testament to the beautiful place we were staying at, and the location was superb for exploring the wine trail around Seneca Lake the next couple of days. I wish we would have stayed one or two more nights; there is so much to see and do in the Finger Lakes region.
Thank you Heather for a wonderful stay, hope to visit Cranberry Creek again.

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was spacious and well furnished with anything you could possibly need - including a welcoming tray with wine and snacks when we arrived. Heather was a very personable hostess and we appreciated her vast knowledge on the wine industry in the Finger Lakes and the history of Burdett and surrounding areas. We will definitely return. We didn't have a chance to take advantage of the outside area with the fire pit and garden due to the rain, but hopefully we can on our next trip.

This property’s location was perfect for getting to so many great wineries. Heather was a wonderful host! She put a five day itinerary together for my friend and I helping us traverse the awesome wineries of the Finger Lakes. She also suggested local places to visit. Cranberry Creek Homestead is like a home away from home. It is quite obvious that Heather put much thought and planning into Cranberry Creek Homestead.

Marty was great. Showed us around the property during check in. Left us a delicious treat of local fruit, cheese, marmalade, bread and wine. Beautiful rental close to everything we wanted to visit.

Heather and Emily are truly very nice and gracious hosts. There are so many thoughtful little touches everywhere that tell you that they really want you to have a good comfortable stay. Many of these things you would be hard pressed to find in other vacation rental properties. Also, they have a super serious green thumb. If you like to cook your own meals on vacation, this is a wonderful bonus. The proximity to Watkins Glen, Ithaca, and Corning is ideal. Kids loved staying here - they were sad to leave.

We had a wonderful time at Heather's homestead, she thought of everything to make our stay relaxing and so enjoyable. We were greeted by her mother Marty who showed us around the homestead and the vegetable garden where we could pick any fruit or vegetable that was ready. The bottle of wine and delivery of strawberries was so thoughtful. Heather went out of her way by putting together an itinerary of hiking, sightseeing, wineries and restaurants so we didn't have to search in our short visit. Loved the backyard where we had a campfire and met her two canine friends! We absolutely plan on coming here again! Thank you Heather and Marty!
