We couldnt ask for a better location! We spent our days at Acadia National Park but the area was great. Everything was great at the house and even some extras to help eat at home. We appreciate the extra attention taken for the small things and the well labeled info for items to use.

Adorable cottage with lots of charm! A few small issues noted upon arrival, but the host was quick to fix them. It would be nice to have upgraded silverware. The beds were comfy and keeping the windows open helped to keep the rooms cool. We loved the backyard and fire pit! Excellent location, close to hiking and restaurants!

What a gorgeous house! Beautiful decor, super comfy beds, you feel like you've stepped back in time while still enjoying all the comforts of the modern era. Perfect base for our Acadia trip. Host was responsive and attentive. We didn't want to leave.

It was perfect for our quick stop in Acadia. The house was perfect for our family of six, and the host was wonderful.

This was a lovely place to stay on the quiet side near Wonderland Trail and Bass Harbor Lighthouse which gave us an opportunity to see a lot in just a couple days The busy-ness of Bar Harbor even before peak season was nice to visit, but not for long If you like a quiet immaculately decorated escape from it all, this is perfect!!

Thanks Robbin for a lovely stay during Christmas week. The home was clean and thoughtfully arranged for guests. We recommend you highly.

If anything, the property listing doesn't fully capture how much space is available. We were surprised at how big the property was!
The whole place is clean and nicely decorated and we loved the kitchen especially. The location is also good, not too long of a drive to get to anything you want to do on the island. Highly recommended!

Comfortable, clean and had cabinets full of helpful spices, seasonings, oils, etc.
We enjoyed our stay on the quiet side of the island.

Vacation rental homes can sometimes feel a bit sterile, with furniture and decorations cobbled together from bargain stores. This property instead felt like we were being welcomed to stay at a favorite aunt and uncle’s home, with good quality furnishings, bedding, etc... It was cozy, warm, and comfortable in every aspect. It doesn’t feel cheap, but more like no expense was spared.
Communication was also great - we had an issue with the TV and I messaged the host. The reply was almost instant, with another to have it replaced within a few hours.
Proximity to Acadia was nice as well. It’s about a half hour drive to Bar Harbor and a 5 minute drive a couple short hikes along the coast. It’s also just a 5 minute drive to the Bass Harbor lighthouse, which is uncrowded and a gorgeous place to welcome the sunrise.
I would stay here again and highly recommend this property.

Would recommend staying here!

This is a neat well managed property. It has a Shabby chic decor that is well done. Located in the more remote southwest Harbor area it allows great access to this part of the island. We had a nice time and would come back to stay again. Thanks so much.

We enjoyed our stay in the brookshire cottage! The cottage was cute and quaint and we loved the location on the island. The air conditioner in the living area was a nice bonus as well. Would have loved maybe a better equipped kitchen, some of the items were rather outdated. Overall we had a great time and lovely stay!

Our family had a wonderful stay here for our most recent trip to Maine. The house is extremely clean and cozy - everything is absolutely spotless and all of the details in the home have a touch of luxury... such a relief for our family of 5 (which includes 3 small children) after long travel days and then long days exploring the island. We can't recommend this property highly enough and look forward to returning soon!

Would return!
Sure, there were a few nuisances (bedroom ceiling fans not working; first floor AC was essentially one downstairs window unit) but overall the place was clean and decoration was representing the Victorian era.

Quaint house in the perfect location-close to everything but away from the crowds.
Robin was the perfect host. The best part was how much our dog loved the chickens that came to the yard every morning! Not sure if they were part of the house but they provided endless entertainment….

Whoever designed and decorated this most adorable cottage should be in a magazine! It is beyond comfortable yet high end touches everywhere! Very comfortable bed! Everything you need and more is here, including an overly stocked kitchen with any spice/oil/extra you need. The dog bowls and doggy goody basket are very thoughtful! Robin, the host, is so accomidating and so helpful! The firepit was so relaxing, but the tub and bath salts were heaven! The best part of our entire trip on tje island was just being at the cottage. Definitely eat at Eat A Pita!!! Love this place!

An adorable cottage, cozy and plenty of space for a family of 5. Very clean and comfortable, and very well decorated. Also well stocked with spices, kitchen supplies, etc. responsive owner. Great outdoor firepit area. It was a little farther to bar harbor than we expected, but there are some trails a short drive near by if you want to get out for a walk. We had a great stay. Very clear directions provided throughout the cottage.

We enjoyed staying on the quiet side of Acadia NP! It was great to be close to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. There’s a small downtown that’s very close. We ate at Dry Dock Inn and it was delicious! The house was clean and quaint.

We had three generations in the Brookshire Cottage, and we loved it. My parents enjoyed the ease of the first floor suite. Everything was well-appointed and the kitchen was a dream to cook in. One of the best rental experiences we have had!

The house is lovely and comfortable, and we loved being on the island's quiet side. It was also great to be so close to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse - it was really easy to pop over there to look at tide pools and clamber around on the rocks, which my kids love. It's also very close to Gott's market (which stocks produce and necessities), and near the town of Southwest Harbor (check out the bike rental place there - Southwest Cycle. They were great! ). Our host (Robbin) also went above and beyond for us - I left my backpack on the porch of the rental and didn't realize until I was at the airport in Bangor. I had no time to drive back and get it before my flight. She was very understanding and drove it to UPS to mail it back to me. It was so kind. We'd love to go back!

Location was nice due to away from tourist chaos. Driveway a bit tricky but we managed with a 4Runner.
Weather was just warming but there were fans in every bedroom to circulate air - big bonus for someone that is accustomed to constant ceiling fan.
Good location for driving to Acadia park and a sweet lighthouse south of home where we went to watch a beautiful sunset.

We just loved our stay. The house was decorated so well and we were made to feel so comfortable with all the pillows and blankets. The decor is done so well.

We were so glad to have Brookshire Cottage as our home away from home during our weekend on MDI. The house was adorable, super cozy, & well-equipped. Loved being on the quiet side of things & yet only a 20-30 min drive to the main entrance of Acadia. Would love to return someday.

Very clean and quiet.

Adorable quaint cottage on the quiet side of MDI. 25 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and Park Look Road/Acadia, but worth it!! Very close to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Cottage was the perfect retreat after long days of hiking, biking and exploring the island. Bath salts and soaking tub were a sweet treat for our tired legs. Book of Acadia on front porch gave us lots of great insight into where to explore and what to see.

Well-appointed cottage. Cozy, clean. Close to hiking.

My parents, niece, puppy and myself stayed here for 2 days. Wonderful place. Lots of cute touches. So 4 people and a big dog. Living room was kind of small for all of us, but not uncomfortable so. Property manager was very responsive. Great place to stay. A little trail to the water. Less than 2 miles to the Bass Harbor lighthouse. 16 to Bar Harbor. Close but without the crowds. Would stay again.
