Charleston Lake is located in South Eastern Ontario, just north east of Gananoque. The lake is carved out of the Frontenac Axis, a relatively narrow extension of the Canadian Shield bedrock which dominates the landscape of Northern Ontario. The lake is the principal watershed for the Gananoque River, and boasts prime fishing locations. Charleston Lake Provincial Park is located on the shores of the lake, and offers camping, hiking, boating, fishing and interpretive sessions.
Charleston Lake has over 100 miles of shoreline and over 100 islands with over 800 summer and permanent residences on the lake. The water surface is 26.2 km2, and the maximum depth is 91.1 m. A naturally occurring rock and tree formation shows a profile of the guardian of Charleston Lake known as Indian Head.1] Other than Charleston Lake Provincial Park, the County Park and Sand Bay are excellent destinations for day trips.
For five years culminating in 2005, Charleston Lake was the site for re-introduction of the peregrine falcon with the Canadian Peregrine Foundation, Ontario Power Generation and Leeds County Stewardship Council

Snuck out for a 2 day fishing trip. The stay was amazing. Everything we needed was there except towels and bedding. Not an issue but worth mentioning as I couldn’t find that detail in the ad. The host was very responsive and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Also has some helpful advice for Trout! The boathouse was perfect to store the boat out of the rain.
Will definitely return and recommend to anyone looking to check out Charleston Lake!

My partner and I found a peaceful and beautiful place to stay and unwind from the world; the cottage is welcoming comfortable. The lake and surrounding forest helped us to leave the city behind and enjoy the beauty of the place. I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to get away from it all.

Very relaxing stay. The owners were kind and helpful. It is a bit rustic and out of the way, but that is what we wanted. 5star

The property was perfect! It was exactly as described. It was easy to find. The owner was responsive to our questions. We were looking for a little privacy and isolation — we got lots of both and had a wonderful time.

Looking out in the morning to see a group of common merganzers is priceless! Kayaking is fantastic, saw a lot of wildlife in the nearby creek and around the lake. There's a resident water snake that lives in the rocks next to the boathouse. The docks are perfect as is the swimming.
The boathouse is a charming space and the bunkie very handy for visitors who made need somewhere to change or go to the washroom. The only addition I would make is a proper auto-shut-off kettle.

It was lovely staying right on the water in this cute little boathouse. My teenage son enjoyed having his own space in the bunkie. Great use of space. Neighbours were a little close and a little loud, and bring all the food you need (including oil, spices, etc). Hosts were very kind.

Property was clean & quiet. Had everything we needed. Woke up to a beautiful view of the lake each morning. Enjoyed our stay.

I had the pleasure of spending three and one half days in the “boat house “ with my brothers and sons. It was strictly a fishing trip. The accommodations were exactly as described and met all of our needs. The house was clean, the kitchen was more than adequate and being able to keep my boat out of the weather was a real bonus. To top it off, the fishing was excellent as we did very well with all types of species.
Mike and his wife were very gracious and met all of our needs. We will definitely come back and rent from the Hudson’s again in the future.
