You will love Mermaid's Folly, which is a short walk from the beach and provides a quiet & peaceful retreat within the sun-drenched, bird-filled woods. Located on a low traffic street in a tree-filled residential neighborhood, this house provides its guests close proximity to the beach and Folly Beach's restaurant row on Center Street without all the congestion and noise that you'll find on the busier streets of the island. Guests of Mermaid's Folly can take a leisurely walk to the best public access point (fully equipped with its own bath house & rest room!) on Folly Beach and have their toes in the sand within 7 minutes of leaving the front door. At the end of the day, you can return home to enjoy sundowner cocktails on one of the home's three elevated porches that overlook the marsh or drive to downtown Charleston to enjoy the fabulous foodie & cultural delights of what readers of Southern Living magazine voted as the "Best City in the South" of 2017.

We have been coming to Folly Beach every summer for the past six years and each year gets better than the last. The house had everything we needed and they even include spare beach towels which was much appreciated. The owners were very communicative before and during the stay so should we have needed anything, I knew they’d be quick to respond. Highly recommend!

We have been to other parts of South Carolina before but have found Folly Beach as our new favorite beach! Mermaid's Folly was so clean and furnished beautifully, the neighborhood was quiet and in great proximity to the beach and downtown. It was also so close to Charleston. We are already talking about visiting again!

We lived in Charleston for many years before work moved us to the upstate. It was so wonderful to stay at Mermaid’s Folly and feel like we were right back home! The home is beautiful and well appointed with anything to make your stay comfortable! We loved that it’s tucked back off the main roadway but still close enough ito take a short walk to the beach or the stores and restaurants. Everything is well maintained and clean. I can be a bit OCD with cleanliness but I didn’t have to worry here at all! We so appreciated the environment they’ve created here! Comfortable, clean, inviting, laid-back and beyond charming! Thank yall for a fantastic rental!

We brought out 4 teenagers to see charleston and spend time at the beach. House was perfect for our trip! Great location! We did sight seeing in the morning and then beach time when we got back. House was well equipped - good kitchen set up, beach towels were provided and lots of games & books at night. Walkable to loggerheads restaurant for easy dinner. Parking on folly beach is difficult so it’s a real perk that this house is walkable to the Main Street and the beach. Would definitely go back again! Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

The house was a perfect spot to stay for a family wedding. Close to the beach, near the shops. Even rented bikes and rode around the the island. Highly recommend this property!

Mermaids Folly was the perfect house for our group of 7. The back room with the windows was so lovely and relaxing. Everything was clean and the house had everything we needed. It was also a perfect location - easy walk to downtown Folly and the beach. We rented golf carts to drive around Folly too - highly recommend!

We loved Mermaid's Folly. It was clean and bright, and as described. Lots of spaces to hang out and eat. The kitchen was good for preparing meals, lots of spices already there when we arrived. The coffee setup was good (there was even a coffee grinder!). The beds were very comfortable. Lots of DVDs and tons of books to choose from. The street was very peaceful and pleasant, especially quiet even on New Year's Eve. It's a bit of a walk to the main street where the restaurants are, about 10 minutes with no sidewalks, but not too bad. Supermarkets within 5-10 minute drive. If we return to the area, we would stay here again.

I stayed at Mermaids Folly this past weekend with 6 of my friends for my bachelorette weekend! The house was everything we could have wanted! Quiet area, about a half mile to the downtown area (bars, restaurants, etc.) so perfect location! We ended up renting a golf cart since some of our other party was staying closer to the water, which was definitely worth it. We enjoyed sitting in the living room at night which had plenty of cozy sofas and chairs, then would hang out of the back porch in the morning for coffee, we had an amazing time, we will go back!

Great house, great location! The house was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and - best of all - an easy short walk to the beach and center of town. We had plenty of room to spread out and enjoyed the multiple decks. This was our first time in Folly Beach and we would absolutely stay here again!

Overall, a pretty nice house that had everything we needed. It is about 3 blocks to the beach, an easy walk for adults but a little long for young children. The only complaint is the mattress in the master bedroom .. I slept in a hole and it hurt my back… it needs to be replaced. Other than that, everything was fine!

Brought a large extended family group into SC for a family wedding and we wanted a place that would relax everyone and would be able to fit everyone comfortably…and Mermaid’s Folly delivered!

I wanted to take my mom, who was diagnosed a year ago with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, on a nice vacation to charleston. I searched everywhere in the area and decided to book here at folly beach. Wow were we impressed. We're so used to the busy beaches up north, that this was a nice change of pace. The house was beautiful and well layed out. The beds were comfortable and everyone fell in love with the sun room. The beach, retail stores, bars/restaurants were well within walking distance. I definitely want to return with my family and children in the future. Highly recommend

We loved everything about this house. It was the perfect size for our family (6 adults) as we each had our own room, but wasn’t so big that we had to go up and down stairs or feel overwhelmed with space. The outdoor porches/decks were amazing and the sunroom was our favorite area. We used the gas grill to cookout and cooked all but one meal at home. The kitchen was well supplied. Walking to the beach and downtown was easy in this quiet neighborhood.

Everyone had a bedroom and the dining and living room space was enough for everyone to fit. Kitchen was tight but had everything we needed to cook dinner each night. Communication with property manager was quick and attentive. Great place!!!

The property was well-maintained and comfortable. The kitchen was recently renovated and modern, though the plumbing and electricity in the bathrooms were a little old. Beach gear was minimal, so I'd advise looking into the rental companies the owners recommend. We enjoyed all the porches and the house is an easy walk to the beach.
All in all, it was exactly what we needed for our long weekend and we enjoyed our time in Folly.

The pictures don’t do the house justice. It’s incredibly clean and well decorated, very well stocked with all the necessities and you can’t beat the location. We rented a golf cart from Folly Beach Golf Carts and had the best time exploring the area and hitting the beach. Definitely visit Crosby’s for fresh seafood! A very special place. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 3 young one’s. We loved how the backyard would light up from below to show the beautiful trees and plants at night. It felt like a tree house. Squirrels would play in the trees and run about during the day. The enclosed windowed porch was warm enough to sit on in Dec and have a cocktail at night while the kiddo’s were sleeping. Loved the neighborhood. It’s more year round residential. The homes were very nice and so were the neighbors! We’d definitely come back and stay here. Very walkable with nice restaurants all within walking distance. Safe too. Enjoy yourselves like we did. Thank you Sarah and Steven!!

This is a great house in the perfect location on Folly! I did a lot of research and this house was an excellent price and value. In terms of location, you are both a short walk from the beach and to the town area where there are restaurants, bars and Bert's grocery store. It's so nice to be able to walk to all these things and not worry about driving/parking/etc. And the house is just far enough away from these things that it is very quiet at night - super peaceful. I wish we'd had more time to take advantage of all the different areas to hang out - an enclosed porch, an outdoor grilling area, and a front outdoor seating area with adirondack chairs. We were there 4 nights for a reunion of 4 friends, and the 4 bedrooms were perfect. If you're going to Folly, I recommend Mermaid's Folly as a great place to stay!
