Nice house in Costambar. Plenty of space for the four of us. Very clean with with comfortable furniture and updated bathrooms. Plenty of great restaurants in the Costambar community too.

I liked the spacious master bedroom with walk in shower, but the bed and furniture was old!! The pool is much smaller than in the picture, The roads leading to the property are horrendous, no faster than 5mph. The property is surrounded by thick brush and trees with Thirsty Mosquitoes that invade the living room at night. Every Door and window has a lock i felt like i was in prison. The beach is farther away than I anticipated, and it not well maintained.

Our daughter was working as a teacher nearby in El Javillar so we wanted a place to stay that was close and this house was great! This was a perfect location to be close to our daughter’s humble, authentic experience in Javillar, but we had many comforts at our stay in this house. Wonderful house, plenty of room, great air conditioning and overall accommodations. It’s in a nice community, and while the roads are bumpy but it makes it more authentic. There’s also a great small market that is about a 10+ minute walk from the house. The pool is great and we enjoyed using it everyday. Jay was super helpful throughout our stay and is a great host. They even let us invite some of our daughter’s teacher friends over for an evening in the pool and were super gracious with us. We only went to the Costambar beach one time and it seemed great with beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.. And while the water and beach here are not as nice as some of the other more well-known beaches in the area, it was still nice to have it closeby as a beach option. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!!

The Dominican Republic was quite the experience. We thought it was like Costa Rica. Not so much. Costambar is an older development and the infrastructure isn’t quite what we expected. That being said, the owners (Jay and Ana) along with their Property Manager (Kiki) were fantastic. When we had an issue it was attended to immediately. We were there for 3 weeks and overall had a fine time. The house and pool are great. The water pressure and water warmth is typical of the poor infrastructure that we didn’t understand. However, we made the best of it. We met wonderful people. Great restaurants and grocery shopping. We drove everywhere but it isn’t for the faint of heart. Lots of motorcycles and scooters driving in and out.
I would recommend the House wholeheartedly as long as you know what to expect in the Dominican Republic.

When staying at La Villa Da Silva you are overwhelmed. It is a beautiful house with a beautiful location, more importantly it is a house that you adopt as your own. You respect everything and everyone that makes your stay enjoyable. Much thanks to Jay and Ana, you have shared a wonderful experience with myself and my wife by allowing us to stay here. We look forward to staying here again.

Where do I start- First want to thank Jay and Ana for letting us stay in your home it was absolutely a great place to stay and one of the best houses we have rented in the last 10 years since we started renting houses in different parts of the world. (The house has pretty much everything you will need and more) The house is very safe with lots of locks and gates NOT that you need it but for those who get worried. Bedrooms were great w/ A/C if you need it which we didn't to much. Met a lot of neighbors are very nice people. We had a lot of fun hanging out at the house and exploring the island, unfortunately we didn't get to explore Costambar a lot before we left which there is a lot to do right in the gated community with lots of restaurants and bars along with beach that you can go to. We made it to the beach bar for burgers one night and the pizza place on the corner across from Ricks Cafe which was great also.
We rented a car to explore the island- you need nerves of steel to drive in Dominican -FYI. We don't worry about things like that, but just letting the people who are thinking about renting a car, the traffic is crazy and motorcycles everywhere. Funny thing we didn't get in an accident driving, but our rental car got hit parked at the beach by big truck. Take the insurance it will make you feel better and it cost us 200.00 which was our deductible- the hardest thing if you get in an accident is you need the police report ( little pain in the butt more because we didn't speach the language).
Jenny grocery store is located in Costambar and they exchange money if you need to and give you a fair rate of exchange. ( Buy Presidenta beer by the case cheaper) Make sure you have cash- as we found out that a lot of the places we went don't use credit card. Jenny's, gas stations, Jumbo Grocery store (big store) some restaurants take credit card. All the excursions we went on did not but we also drove to the excursions- way cheaper.
We went to Sosua Beach -good but Costambar beach just as good - less people -closer
Money Jungle Zip line ( 50 per person) - drove there not easy to get to but fun trip good zip lines 7 stations- baby monkeys
Waterfalls - we did the 12 which was totally great and had lunch for 20.00
Cable car was good also.
We did find a new place downtown area of Puerto Plata- Bocaditos bakery and cafe
Awesome place to eat.
Rancho Los Cacaos great Razor trip into the mountain and villages 55.00 per person
Awesome TIME!!

We just stayed for 10 nites at Ana’s house and had a great time. There were three couples, all had their own bedrooms with bathrooms, Plenty of room. The house has been renovated and the bathrooms are really modern and nice. The master suite has two balcony’s that face the ocean, great for morning coffee or cocktail hour.
The outdoor area is beautiful with tropical plants and a great pool with a waterfall. There is also an built in grill we used a few times to make steaks.
We had a little trouble the first nite finding the house ,but Ana was patiently on the phone giving us directions right up to pulling into the house. The only negative was the water pressure in the showers needs to be turned up, all in all a great vacation house

I had a great time at this beautiful property. Will definitely rent again when I visit Costambar. As a matter of fact can’t wait to rent this property again!

The house itself is quite nice. Full kitchen including gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, sink, full complement of silverware, dishware, and utensils. Very spacious master bedroom with two balconies, master bathroom with beautiful glass shower. Downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are very nice as well. All bedrooms have air conditioning units and fans. Roomy living room area with dining table, plenty of seating, and television. There is also a laundry area with clothes washer. Lots of windows and fans throughout the residence to help with air circulation. The property is well maintained and secured. A larger yard area would be nice, but the pool more than makes up for it. There is a waterfall adornment at the deep end of the pool with a small platform for jumping or diving.
The neighborhood is a nice quiet reprieve from the noise and activity you'll encounter in the city. The gated community includes a picturesque private beach with a few restaurants and souvenir shops, a pharmacy, a small food market with ATM, and a number of restaurants.
If you like Italian food I highly recommend the Pizzeria SoleMio restaurant. Everything is within reasonable walking distance, but as the house is towards the outskirts of the neighborhood the walking will add up over time. I would recommend renting a bicycle if you intend to do a lot of local exploring.
Without a doubt the best feature of this property is the people. In particular, Alba was a great host. She gave us a lovely tour of the city one day and took us on a nice dinner outing the night before we left. Kiki took care of any maintenance needs, of which there were a few as electrical problems are common in the country. They work with a local driver named Johnny who can take you wherever you want to go; he was super convenient and invaluable. Everyone was great, the property is nice, and the locale is simply beautiful. I look forward to coming back sometime.

We were thrilled with our week long stay at this house in May 2017! The house, pool, and grounds are gorgeous! We wouldn't hesitate to rent this house again. :)
The house is well equipped with towels and kitchen items. The 3 bedrooms are large with beautifully renovated bathrooms. The air conditioners in the bedrooms worked well.
The house is in a good location in the gated beachfront community of Costambar which is 3 miles away from Puerto Plata and under a hour from Playa Dorada, Sosua, and Cabarete.
We spent a lot of time in the beautiful pool. When not in the pool we often sat in one of the covered areas (all of which have ceiling fans). The views of the ocean from the larger upstairs balcony were very nice. We also spent some time walking around Costambar. You can walk to the beach where besides a nice beach there are a few bar/restaurants right in the sand. Within walking distance you will also find a small grocery store, a pharmacy, and also other restaurants. There is a 9 hole golf course within walking distance as well.
If you want to do some day trips you can rent a car at the grocery store or you can get a taxi at the taxi stand within walking distance from the house.

Great Vacation! No bugs! Ok, just a few mosquitoes as you would expect, but not as bad as Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, etc. We stayed 10 daysd
We loved it. "We" are two couples that travel annually together.
The house is better than the pictures. The local property manager was Alba and she was like a tour guide in many ways. A great resource to quickly become acquainted to the Puerto Plata area. The house was clean and the pool was cleaned daily. Great pool lights too. Nice outside patios and verandas upon which to eat and converse. Lot's of fun!
The location proved safe and we met the two closest neighbors on each side of the house--both were long term American/Canadian residents. This house is convenient to Puerto Plata and surrounding attractions if you have a car and yet quiet if you prefer to hang out by the house pool. Costambar is a gated community and does have it's own beach a short drive from the house. The beach is really quite good and swimable,-maybe an 8- on a scale of 10. It does have about 8 beach cafes to choose from. It is not crowded. We loved the second cafe from the end of the road owned by an Austrian--big selection on the menu...including Shnitzel! And good prices. "Jenny's Market" does fair and quick currency changing and has most everything you need.
We found lots to do with our rental car. To drive in the DR, you must be a very confident driver, with guts, good reflexes, and nerves of steel. I am not kidding. The roads are narrow and the traffic congested. Stop lights and stop signs are not always obeyed until a flow of oncoming cars take claim to the right of way. You must take out all liability insurance. Really.
Must do's :
The town of Cabareta has a world class beach and beach cafes with 300 Kite Boarders and wind surfers in motion in front of you--a must do 45 minute drive. Really a spectacular experience!
Just before arriving at Cabareta is Sosua Beach-also world class beach, shops....but very crowded and commercial...and a rough town to hang out in-so just visit the beach. You probably should do these two Beaches on different days and not rush. Spanish Fort in Puerto Plata is 500 years old and a must see. Wait for an inclement weather day and you can mix in the Amber Museum 7 blocks by seven blocks away. You must drive and park. Watch out for the street drains not having grates. You could bust your axle or just get stuck. Really. Playa Dorada is world class beach 15 minutes away.
