About this house rental
Location
Tripodon street is considered as the oldest street of Athens. It is located in the same place as it was 25 centuries ago and has the same name since then.
The Way of Glory
The very precious story of Tripodon Street begins from the fact that it was, perhaps, the broadest street of ancient Athens (six meters wide) and the shortest one to go from the theater of Dionysus to the Agora. It was not done to serve the city's traffic, but to get the Athenians to watch the theatrical performances of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides and Aristophanes. It was the street of Art, the Philosophers, the Theater, the Architecture, the Greek Thought. In this way the torch relaying took place in honor of the god Dionysus.
"... And there is a way from the praetaneus called Tripods, from which they call the people, monuments of this great tripods, bronzes ..."
Pausanias, Attica
And along this road were placed the bronze tripods (on impressive monuments) which were the prizes of the sponsors of the victorious theatrical and musical competitions held in Athens. All these sponsored monuments were dedicated to God Apollo and only one has survived to our days ...
Plaka Neighborhood
One of the oldest and most picturesque districts of Athens, Plaka lies below the Acropolis. Here ancient Roman structures, Byzantine churches and buildings from the Ottoman occupation intermingle with beautiful neoclassical manors and picturesque taverns, creating a unique, colourful mosaic of the city’s history.
In the shadow of the Sacred Rock, the scenic Anafiotika neighbourhood adds a touch of the Aegean to the heart of Athens.
Plaka, draws multitudes of visitors to its narrow, vehicle-free streets lined with traditional taverns, bars, museums and tourist shops. A stone’s throw from the Acropolis, the New Museum, Monastiraki and central Athens, Plaka is the perfect destination.
Points of Interest
Cobbled streets and neoclassical mansions, ancient sites and humble houses hidden behind fragrant jasmine bushes and vibrant bougainvilleas: the Plaka neighborhood in Athens is a destination in its own right. The oldest part of Athens hosts artisan shops, small taverns with delicious local food, amazing museums hidden behind unassuming buildings and more history, culture and architecture than anyone could take in in one go.
A few turns of the road from the modern city center, all of Athens’ history can be found here: its first school and its first university, 11th century byzantine churches and 18th century mosques, golden age monuments and the Roman Agora and the amazing Anafiotika, the tiny Cycladic-style bright white neighborhood perched on the Acropolis to the east of Plaka. Shopping is a must here, whether for souvenirs, fine jewelry or artisanal mementos – and so is lunch or dinner. Also, do keep an eye for street events and parties: they are known to happen from time to time and are always delightful!
Just in the heart of Plaka, the oldest part of the city of Athens lays this fantastic house.
Its unique views include the Acropolis Hill and the church of saint tade built during the Byzantine era.
The contemporary minimalistic architecture used during the recent renovation of the house is a juxtaposition to the most ancient and classic part of Athens, Plaka. However, the intention, as well as the outcome, is exactly this dialogue of the ancient with the contemporary. The reconciliation and the continuity of the past with the present. This blend has been succeeded mainly by the position of the roof and side windows. This positioning has achieved to bring the outside, inside. To bring the old into the new. Even if you are inside and view the side and the top of the old church and the east part of the Acropolis hill, in fact you have the feeling that you see the whole picture, as if you were outside.
Layout
Starting from it's roof terrace you think you can touch the Acropolis Hill. You can enjoy a wonderful breakfast in the morning or a relaxing drink in the evening.
The main level consists of an open plan kitchen with the sitting room along with a master bedroom with en suite bathroom and double bed.
The lower level consists of another bedroom with en suite bathroom and double bed, a small kitchenette and the third bedroom with one child bed and one sofa futon bed. A bathroom also is located on this level.
The house features the ideal location for exploring the city of Athens and sightseeing as well. In addition you will not need any transportation mean since the house is located 3 minutes walking from Acropolis, the ancient greek Agora as well as the Roman Agora and the Handrian’s Library.
Important: For late check in (after 21:00) there is an additional fee of 15 euros total for the person who will check you in.

Outstanding location, accommodating host, and well-equipped property. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay and the location was perfect for us. The only 2 things is that we could not really cool off the living area, was very warm and we had multiple incidents with cockroaches in the basement. We informed the owner and he said he would take care of it, and I just wanted to share with others as FYI. Otherwise, everything is great and loved the location.

Making a reservation across the world is very challenging process. Not knowing if the pictures you are viewing of the property are actually as nice as seen on line. This home was amazing!! Exactly as shown and described in the pictures. The location was in the heart of the city with panoramic views of the Parthenon. The owner and management of this home assisted us in making arrangements for every step of our vacation, from picking us up at the airport upon arrival in Greece to transporting us to the Port of Pireaus for our cruise and our returning back to the unit for a second stay and then back to the airport for our return home to the U S. I would recommend this property to all travelers and hope to return there some day! Thank you!!

Great location in a wonderful neighborhood surrounded by shopping and restaurants just steps away. Our place had an awesome rooftop patio with an amazing view of the Acropolis.

This is a very good property in the perfect location with an outstanding host. You simply cannot get a better location to visit the historic ( and happening!) area of Athens. The host is extremely accomodating and communicates very quickly and accurately. You cannot go wrong staying here. I very highly recommend!

I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to stay in the really cool and lively area of Athens. Acropolis and Agora are both less than 10 min away, and lots of restaurants and shopping are right outside of the property, but the place is very quiet and we had a great night's sleep. AC worked well. House is spacious and nicely appointed, very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Super clean as well. Overall amazing stay.

Best location
Communication with host was easy and prompt. Self check in was very stress free. Property was in great shape, clean and comfortable. But the best was the location. Couldn’t have picked a better place to spend the days in Athens. Close to mayor sites of interest and in the center of very picturesque neighborhoods. Still, because of the trees in front, felt secluded and very quiet at night.
Great food right next door and many more options nearby.

Great apartment with view in Athens
We loved our stay in this Athens home - perfect for our family of 5 and an excellent location for exploring Athens. It’s a unique space with a central opening for skylight, which I really liked. The rooftop patio is great - perfect spot for a glass of wine at the end of long days exploring. The A/C worked great - very necessary this time of year. And the bathrooms were nice. We didn’t really use the kitchen - but seemed to have all the essentials. The restaurant right across from it was really good - great place for our first meal in Athens when we were so tired from long journey to get there. And the neighborhood was great - very vibrant with people walking by on their way to all the great restaurants and shops nearby - and, of course, the Acropolis. Communication with the property manager was great - very responsive. Overall, a wonderful property and a great place to stay for your time in Athens.

In Shade of Acropolis
Having rented VRBO superb properties from Hawaii to SPI, Texas to London, I can honestly
say that this was the best experience yet. Both the well-
located property and timely responses from management
(Spyros) contributed to our overall satisfaction. We plan to return to Greece in the future.

Brilliant house on the oldest street in Athens
Excellent terrace house with a rooftop balcony looking up to the acropolis, within seconds of restaurants and historical buildings. Loved every minute.

Great place to stay!
I’ve stayed in many VRBO properties and this is my all-time favorite! Great communication with the host, clean apartment, and the location was unbeatable. It’s also next door to an almost 1000 year-old church!

Great location, amazing rooftop views
I don't think we could have found a more central location with such nice amenities. We were 4 adults and two kids and had plenty of room to spread out. The apartment is well updated, comfortable and had everything we needed, including a washing machine. We really enjoyed the rooftop terrace with the amazing views it offered. It was great to be able to walk out the front door and be so close to so many different restaurants, shops and historical sites. Looking up at the wall of the Acropolis was almost surreal. We would highly recommend a stay at Tripodon Plaka if you are heading to Athens. It was our favorite location on our two week trip to Italy and Greece. Jim met us on our arrival and showed us where everything was and he was available by text and even set up our pick up to return to the airport which took a lot of the stress out of the trip for us. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Best location and host ever
Our family of five loved the apartment. Everything we needed was provided. It's clean, spacious, and laid out in a way to give privacy to all. The rooftop deck is over the top. Spiros met us and gave us great tips. Nothing could have been better. As with all real estate decisions: location, location, location. And this is the best ever. When you are at the Acropolis, you look down at the rooftop deck.
Loved the apartment, loved Athens.

Great location! Abundant for 4 to 6 people with great amenities
We loved our stay in Athens. The location is literally in Plaka, 2 mins to shopping, 10 mins to the Acropolis and less than that to the Acropolis museum with lovely restaurants all around. The apartment itself is well furnished with almost all amenities one could look for.
Also Spyros and Demitris were both super helpful with arranging transports to the airport, recommending restaurants and also allowing us to check out later based on our flight timings.

This place was perfect!
Spiros was great and very helpful. The rooftop deck was a huge bonus. (There is nothing like looking down at your friends drinking their morning coffee from the Acopolis). The location was perfect. We could walk everywhere. I highly recommend.
