About this house rental
Hidden away from the hum of Wine Country Drive sits a beautifully re-imagined and renovated part of the region's past. The Parson's retreat was saved from perishing in Cessnock and given a tranquil new setting in Rothbury.
With a flood of natural light splashing on the white walls to fill the indoor space with warmth and huge glass panels, all of which can be opened so allow the refreshing cool breeze from the nearby dam or grove of trees, makes this the perfect location to runaway to.
Boasting a large outdoor deck and BBQ facilities, it will be a tough task to find a more suitable spot for a summer evening.
THE Important Stuff -
3 spacious bedrooms sleeping up to 10 guests.

Bedroom 3: King + 2 Singles
This is a rural property with an open dam so please keep this in mind if booking with younger children or non-swimmers.
How We Price: The booking price is based on a minimum number of guests. Any guests above this number are chargeable on a per person/per night rate. The system will automatically calculate the correct rate when you enter the required number of guests. Reductions in guest numbers are non-refundable.
Arrival Details: Access to the property is made easy for you. We will send you an access code just before 2pm on your arrival day via SMS and you will use this code for the duration of your stay.
Linen: 1 set of full bed linens and 1 bath towel per person are supplied. Guests may wish to bring extra towels depending on the length of their stay. Pool/Lake/Beach towels are BYO
Guest Amenities: We are Eco-Friendly - we do not supply Shampoo, Conditioner or Body Wash. Guests are reminded to prepare & bring their own personal bathroom products/amenities. We will continue to supply Anti-Bacterial hand soap in a pump pack + Kitchen Necessities/Basics.
Wi-Fi is provided complimentary on behalf of the owner. It is intended to be used in an appropriate manner by all guests. As the service is provided by an external 3rd party, Weekenda cannot and do not guarantee the speed or efficacy of this property's Wi-Fi connection nor do we pay any compensation for interruption of service for any reason.
Fires and Firewood: Internal wood fireplaces and outdoor fire pits only operate after the NSW Easter School Holidays up to before the NSW September School Holidays in line with NSW state fire restrictions. Please note: we will normally supply enough firewood, kindling & fire-starters for between 1-2 nights of your stay. For guests wishing to have additional fires, we suggest BYO Firewood, Kindling, and Starters which can be easily purchased from the local service stations.
No Party Policy: All reservations operate under a Strict No-Party & Non-Excessive Noise Policy as prescribed in the NSW Short-Term Letting Legislation and Local Council Laws. This property is in a Residential Area. Failure to comply can put the security bond into jeopardy and may lead to police-assisted eviction and/or extra charges being levied. We hate to have to note this but the reality is that so far this year we have had to evict 3 groups for overstacking/bad/anti-social behavior.
Extra Guests / Visitors: The number of people nominated on your booking is the maximum number of people that are allowed to be on the property at any one time, including visitors. Visitors may be requested and if approved must be approved in writing with Weekenda staff. Simply put, if Mum and Dad want to come over for a BBQ then we are likely to approve. If 10 extra people want to stop by we are unlikely to approve, which could put your booking at risk. We will always try to be reasonable with reasonable people within property constraints and House Rules.
Cameras and Noise Monitoring: There are no external security cameras at this location presently but the owner reserves the right at any time to install external cameras at their discretion. Any camera install will be in line with local regulations. A noise monitoring device is installed - fines apply to guests found to have disconnected, removed or damaged the noise device. These devices are used to monitor and maintain ours and guests responsibilities under the NSW STR Code of Conduct.
Guest Registration / ID Check : Weekenda requires every guest to complete and sign an electronic guest registration prior to arrival which will ask for photo ID i.e. a copy of your Drivers Licence or Passport. The primary booker will also be required to complete a list with the guests names and actual mobile numbers. In the event we are unable to reach the primary booker, it is very important we can get a hold of other guests. These documents will be deleted after your departure. Access Codes are only released to Registered and Verified Guests.
Critical Update: Due to an unprecedented influx of fraudulent bookings, we are forced to impose a policy that protects our clients, industry and community against those attempting to commit fraud and theft. Any booking made within 5 days of arrival is required to provide a photo of a valid credit card in the same full name of the primary guest to match the supplied identification document. Failure of these documents matching will result in the booking being cancelled and all funds processed returned to the original card assumed as stolen and thus a fraudulent transaction. We trust we have our honest and genuine customers understanding this policy is in place to protect all parties.
Insurance: As always, but ever so more due to recent times, we strongly encourage any holidaymakers to obtain a very inexpensive 3rd Party Domestic Travel Insurance Policy to cover you for all manners of matters which may restrict travel. This is particularly helpful for things like Hunter Valley Concert cancellations, Covid or Medical and Other Emergencies for which we don't provide refunds, and anything which falls under our standard Terms & Conditions irrespective of the reason. We suggest reviewing policies with 'Cover-More' or 'Travel Insurance Direct' or 'Insureandgo'

While the location is very pleasant, and the house adequate, a thorough clean and attention to maintenance (broken taps, missing door handles, cracked tiles, broken mirrors, etc.) would be required before I would recommend the property. The beds, however, are very comfortable and clean with nice pillows and good blankets, etc., and the towels are fluffy. However, at this price, you would be better off in one of the swish resorts located nearby.

The house is very well appointed, it was warm, the beds were comfortable and clean. Some aspects of the kitchen and bathrooms were not especially clean, but this was a minor point. The house had everything we needed and we enjoyed our short stay immensely.

The accommodation was great & we really enjoyed our stay in the house, it was cosy and the beds were very comfortable.Wineries were only a short drive & there is a great new Coles shopping centre within 5min drive.
The local wildlife was a treat & we even had a family of shetland ponies visit us each nite very entertaining.

A fantastic location for a relaxing family weekend away. Loved the house and the surrounding property with the vineyard, dam and kangaroos. We organised a tour of the Hunter on Saturday and were picked up and dropped off at the property. We loved the interior of Parson’s Retreat and had a very comfortable stay! We would definitely come back! Thanks so much for the complimentary bottle of wine and the Tim Tams!

Perfect family getaway
Our family had a great time at this property! We loved our secluded it is and how close to nature it is. We enjoyed all the animals and walking on the vast fields and reconnecting with nature. It is in close proximity to the main wine district as well as coles around 8 mins drive!
We highly recommend it for large families :)

Gorgeous country house
This gorgeous country house was the perfect base for exploring the Hunter Valley. It was a large, clean abs well equipped house. It was perfect for relaxing with a wine on the deck overlooking the vines and a dam. I highly recommend this property.

Girls weekend get away
AMAZING!
Myself and 9 friends stayed at this beautiful house for a weekend away and could not fault our experience. It is a great location, close to the popular wineries and coles is only up the road.
The house itself was beautiful, so clean and the lookout from the balcony is gorgeous.
Would love to get back there soon.

Lovely hideaway
Lovely property - well decorated and stocked (including all basics (even mozzie spray!) and a complimentary bottle of wine). Very comfortable beds. Nice view over a dam and private vineyards. Lots of kangaroos and even a friendly herd of pigs. We really enjoyed just chilling on the verandah. Up a long driveway (a little bit hard to find), so very quiet and peaceful.

Rainy day relaxation
Great to get out of Sydney for a bit. Really enjoyed sitting by the fire with a few good books while the Roos enjoyed the rain. Convenient to our favourite wineries. Will definitely stay again.

Bliss
Terrific place to get away from it all. Plenty of room, quirky structure and such bliss to sit on the back deck with a glass of wine overlooking the dam watching the kangaroos hop by.

Lovely house but could not find how to lock front door when going out and at night.
Beds in bedrooms roll away from the wall when trying to sit up and read. No matches to light fire. Hot plates a bit dirty. Loved the Tim tams in the fridge. Mattresses are very comfortable. Quiet and peaceful area.

Privacy, Location, Heritage Property and decoration.
This place has it own private vineyard and is seculed. House has everything you need and its so beautiful. Planty of Kangaroos, we loved it.

Peaceful Location
We had a girls weekend here. The beds were so comfortable, and having ducted a/c AND a fireplace in winter was amazing. It would be great if the deck was covered, as it rained while we were there - but that is minor. We had a great, relaxing time.

Perfect place to relax
A beautiful home where close attention to detail has been paid. It has a kinda Scandi feel about it with beautiful vintage furniture and rustic pieces throughout the house. A lovely position too being close to a variety of vineyards and eateries. Would be a great spot for families or groups of friends. Thanks to Weekenda for making our weekend so easy and enjoyable.

Pick of the Bunch
We searched for a long time to find the right kind of house for our group. We are happy we went with Parson's. The home is beautifully decorated and well laid out giving us lots of space. Beds are very comfortable with fresh linens. It's in a great position too being a short drive to the main area of the Hunter Valley. We sampled probably too many wineries but enjoyed spreading out back at the house and tasting our purchases. Fantastic spot for groups of friends or families. Big thanks to Weekenda for allowing us to stay in this lovely property.
