Owners and family staying in the hostel were very friendly and welcoming. Tours we went on with Antonio were amazing, very informative.
Spiders, massive insects/moths in room (but then what can you expect in the jungle I guess)

Nice garden, hammocks, mosquitonet in the dorm, filtered water. If you ask for tipps you get nice recommendations
No kitchen. There are no food options close-by. You can order food (or they order for you) or you have to walk / take a taxi to town. That's the only negative thing.. the hostel is lovely

Tony was a fantastic tour guide with so much ecological and cultural knowledge. They work directly with local organizations and closely with indigenous groups. He and Erin are so, so dedicated to running their facility with as little ecological impact as possible. The gardens are beautiful, the hammocks are so nice to chill in, and meals were hearty and delicious.

It seems you are inside the amazonia, it does not feel that you are close to tena. The place is really special to stay and all the staff was great. Just a note: don't worry about the ants coming inside your room, they will come to clean and they will leave before it gets dark :)
We had to leave early, the fact that breakfast only starts at 8am is not always aligned with our schedule. The staff tried to help us having some food before, but have this in mind when planning your day

Very nice place with a beautiful garden where you can find dome animals.

The owners Erin & Tony were very kind and helpful. The room we had was comfortable. We liked the eco friendly bathrooms. The Primary Forest hike was worth our time.
The noise from the road was intense so sleeping was very difficult. We did not like the simple breakfast that came with the room. There was no variation throughout our 3 day stay.

It is surrounded by foliage on a big area of land at the end of a neighborhood street so you completely enclosed by nature. You hear birds, crickets and local roosters, the outdoor patios have hammocks, the common room has drinking water and the ambiance is quiet with a few backpackers and families staying in family suits. The common area and bedrooms are clean and the property is well kept, the staff is all very nice and they serve a good Western style breakfast consisting of eggs, fresh chopped fruit, jugo natural, and crossbar/jam and coffee.
We didn’t realize when we reserved our room that Hostal Pakay offers several guided trips from its facility to go rafting, a full day river/indigenous village tour (which we took and highly recommend).

Nestled amongst tropical trees you can chill in a hammock surrounded by the sounds of the jungle and when it rains the pitter-patter of the rain is just sooo relaxing. It's like you are miles away from town when in fact you're not. The dorm is lovely and airy, everything is clean, great breakfast (first place where you get a decent amount of jam plus pastries instead of dry bread) and the staff can help with any questions in Spanish, English and German.
That there is no retreat on offer yet ;) it would be the perfect location for it.

Toni and his sisters are really amazing!!
The place which is build out of wood and bamboo is located in a beautiful greenish hill. Toni offers really amazing tours. He grow up in Tena so he knows the in and out of the rain forest, the local people, animals and more.

The rooms were comfortable. Small, family, run hostel on the outskirts of Tena. It's a good option if you want to explore this area, but don't have the time to travel to some more remote locations. Options to book a tour through the hostel, although we ended up just taking a taxi and exploring ourselves.
Although the property itself is very beautiful and surrounded by a small garden, you can still hear traffic from a nearby road.

We really liked the wooden room and hammock area, great to relax at night. The hostel is not in the center of Tena, but that is actually a plus because it is a bit quieter and in a green area. Breakfast was good.
Lots of dogs barking at night, would wake us many times every night.

Our stay was great! Breakfast was served on the terrace every morning with the other guests and was healthy and plentiful. The rooms were to a high standard, clean with nice bedding. Bathrooms spotless and compost (just to be warned). Tony is the owner and runs tours each day from the hostel - we did two days with Tony and they were brilliant. They started at 9.30am and ended around 4.30/5pm which meant you had time to relax before dinner. Hammocks are on the top floor which are very relaxing with views of the trees and the animal noises. The other staff were helpful and friendly, booking taxis etc. Sad to leave as we had a really nice relaxed, homely stay. Would definitely recommend.
There was only two showers and toilets for quite a few beds which meant you sometimes had to wait but that’s just being picky. Also you do have to get a taxi or walk down into town for food in the evening but this is cheap ($1.50/2.00) and easy by taxi or 20 min walk. There is also no kitchen available (but there is pizza delivery!).

Beautiful surroundings.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent choice of activities available.
Lovely breakfast each morning.
Quiet and peaceful.
Close to the town centre.
The only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer!!

The hostel was simply brilliant! Toni and his team did a perfect job. We stayed there for 3 nights and participated at a rafting tour as well as at forest hike which is directly organized by the hostel owner.
The hostel is very tidy and clean. Furthermore it is nice to see that Toni the operator/owner is taking care about the environment. (Water saving measures/ dry toilets) The hostel is surrounded by a nice garden which contains all different kinds of tropical plants.
The international breakfast is very good.
There is nothing to complain.

Nice terrace with hammocks in the beautiful garden with hummingbirds. Toni is a great host. primary rainforest walking tour highly recommended, Toni will show you beauty of the area (we have seen many birds, specially toucans, King fisher).
baby size sink and no shelves in the bathroom. as there is a garden outside the building the truth is there is also a highway and late night noises from city of Tena so no "deep in the jungle" experience but still very nice.

I had a private room cabin which was quiet, clean, good space, wifi, hot water, fan, compost toilet; a short distance up from the main house in a nice landscaped garden. The staff were helpful. Tour company onsite. Location is up a hill outside of city center so quiet and peaceful. Breakfast good. Hammocks for dorm rooms. Grounds are natural landscaped. This place is perfect for backpackers who are looking to run the rivers.
With the peace and quiet of the location you are also a bit far from city Centro (Malecon) at least a 20 min walk downhill. If you have a car great, if not count on a taxi ride back, which is cheap at $1.50.

The beds were very comfortable, friendly staff, hammocks to chill in, close enough to the town to walk but the property is surrounded by trees so you feel like you’re closer to the jungle, great tours offered

The beds are perfectly comfortable, the breakfast is incredible, everything is made with much love. The owner is very kind. The hostal feels very family-like. The location in the „jungle“ is amazing but close to Tena as well (20‘ walk). Such a great place to stay to explore the Amazonas. The owner also offers a lot of activities.
