About this house rental
This beautiful and secluded stone farm cottage, set in the hills 10 miles north of Dolgellau on a working sheep farm of 700 acres, is perfect for a family or group of friends looking for a tranquil and unique holiday. The cottage is in a superb and little-known location in the Snowdonia National Park, surrounded by wonderful scenery, with excellent walking from the door, mountain biking trails and waterfalls.
A characterful two-storey property that retains many original features and combines them with contemporary comfort to ensure both a welcoming and memorable experience. The cosy sitting room is the heart of the cottage with its striking beamed ceiling and large wood burner in a traditional inglenook fireplace. Sit back in the comfortable leather sofas and easy chair and catch up on the day or fetch your favourite film to watch together on the Smart TV. A stable door leads from the sitting room to the conservatory with a slate floor and comfortable seating to take in the superb views. The kitchen/diner has everything you need to make meal preparation a breeze so you can focus on enjoying eating together. Upstairs are three beamed bedrooms - one double with TV and en-suite shower room, one twin and a second double. A contemporary bathroom completes the features in this beautiful cottage. Head outside to enjoy the slate patio with picnic tables and BBQ, perfect for al fresco dining in fine weather while you admire the panoramic views of the surrounding hills. A garden bench is at the front to take advantage of the countryside views.
There is much to explore from your doorstep. Take an amazing drive over a remote mountain road to the town and lake at Bala (9 miles), where you can enjoy water sports, boat hire on Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), and the little steam Railway at Llanuwchlyn. There are a network of paths and bridleways to explore and quiet roads for cyclists. For mountain bikers, the trail centre at the Coed Y Brenin has lovely forest walking trails, a children’s play area, and discovery trails. The family bike trail at Traswsfynydd (9 miles) is also a short drive away. Day trips could be taken to the nearest beach resorts at Porthmadog (20 miles) and the Italianate village at Portmeirion (20 miles).
