About this house rental
Welcome to our Andalusian-Arabic cave country house in the middle of the evergreen mountains of the Alpujarra, the fertile southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, Spain's largest national park, diverse, beautiful, wild, unique, spoiled by 300 days of sunshine a year and blessed by a great abundance of water. The holiday home is partly built into the rock in a small valley on a southern slope, hidden in a quiet, lonely, rural location with a great view of the mountains and surrounded by blooming nature. It is nestled between orange and olive trees in an evergreen subtropical garden with a private, child-safe pool, a playground, a large barbecue and parking directly at the house.
Quietness, calm, green nature, the proximity to the village, the special child-friendliness and safety, good building fabric and quality equipment, the special flair of ancient architecture, good insulation, modern details, our services and our personal care make this holiday property the ideal place for a relaxed and unforgettable vacation.
Órgiva is only 1km away and can easily be reached by car in a few minutes or on foot in just 10 minutes. It is a 25 minute drive to the coast, 40 minutes to Granada and just over an hour to the Sierra Nevada ski resorts.
THE HOUSE
The whole house is built on one level and is made of very good quality throughout.
Both bedrooms have direct access to a large terrace covered by an ancient grape vine, which extends about the entire front of the house and provides pleasant shade in summer. The terrace in front of the living area is covered, in front of it there is a large sun terrace with sun loungers. Its 60 cm thick walls, a bedroom carved into the rock as a cave, its rustic open fireplace in the living room and its location between hundred-year-old olive trees give this Cortijo a very unique and exclusive ambience. To reach the back cave bedroom, one have to cross through the front twin bedroom. The pool (safe for children, 4m x 6.50m + baby area; March to November) is also completely private and exclusively available to you. It is surrounded by orange trees and a green lawn to relax on. There is a playground in the large garden.
FURNISHING
The house is characterized by its cozy interior, its good and high-quality equipment as well as an exceptionally good building structure and thermal insulation. This guarantees a pleasant room temperature in winter and on hot summer days.
All is of good quality and carefully selected and there will be everything you need for a comfortable stay and a relaxing holiday. (high efficient aerothermal heating, air conditioning, open fireplace, free 100 Mbps WiFi, 43 Smart TV incl. international sports, well-equipped kitchen with modern oven and large refrigerator, various coffee machines, sharp kitchen knives, large, delicate Bordeaux red wine glasses, wooden garden furniture, Lafuma relaxation loungers).
We attach great importance to the cleaning and disinfection of our holiday accommodations.
THE ENVIRONMENT
The holiday villa is settled into the real heart of the Alpujarra, in the middle of the fertile southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada and its impressive flora and fauna. This green Garden of Eden stands out above all for its strong contrasts between Arabic, terraced and irrigated cultural landscapes and its wild alpine landscapes as well as for its year-round mild and sunny microclimate.
You can go on hikes through the valley or to the surrounding hills and mountains directly from the holiday home. Excursions to the picturesque mountain villages or to the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada can be made by car. The spectacular mountain range reaches a height of 3,484 m and is home to the most diverse flora in its five climatic zones between the subtropical coastal region and its glacier as of the clearest starry sky in Europe .
Órgiva offers numerous street cafes and restaurants, small shops, a colorful weekly market and a market hall which offers al kind of fresh groceries on fish, meat, vegetable and herb stalls, as well as a sound infrastructure of small grocery stores, organic shops, ATMs, a post office and a small emergency hospital. We like to describe Orgiva as a "normal", i.e. naturally grown village with a touch of New Age, but not as touristy.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS IN THE AREA
Blessed with plenty of sun and mild weather all year round, this region offers an endless variety of possibilities, activities and holiday arrangements. The Mediterranean environment - part fertile cultural landscape, part wild nature - between the sunny coast and high mountains has its own character and culture. There are inexhaustible possibilities for the nature lover. Countless hiking routes lead through olive and orange groves, past picturesque mountain villages, vineyards and wineries, through forests, wide valleys and narrow gorges, to crystal-clear mountain streams, spring lagoons and snow-capped peaks.
The nearby coast offers in addition to lively coastal towns many small and hidden bays. Some have only a small fish restaurant and others have only sand or rocks. Some can only be reached on foot.
This region offers all year round - even in the winter season - the possibility of relaxation and all kind of different activities as well as its varied gastronomic offer. Because in every season the region lives to the fullest and sights, cafes, restaurants and fish restaurants on the beaches are open all year round.

Perfect location to explore the Sierra Nevada mountains and sightseeing in Granada as well as the beach (we don’t go though!) perfect little house for a small family, stayed nice and cool during the day and the benefit of air conditioning if you need it. Although we didn’t use it during the day just at night. Good selection of equipment in the kitchen and good choice of 2 bbq’s for out door cooking. Lovely outside space, real bonus and we so enjoyed the outlook, watching golden oriel’s flycatchers, foxes and wild boar!! So nice to have a choice of where to sit in the garden. Pool was good to cool off in but not big enough for proper swimming for adults but would be great for small children. Overall a fabulous hidden gem in spitting distance of the delightful small town of Orgiva and perfectly placed for explore vineyards in Constania and the stunning villages of the Alpujarra. We’d love to return! Thank you to Oliver an Maria for the super helpful directions and the loan of maps.

The garden of the house is really fantastic with a nice view to the mountains, different terraces with also areas in the shadow. The area around the hiuse is really great with granada and tge beach within 30 min.
Owner of the house is really friendly and supportive.

If Oliver's place is available, book it! We had a relaxing holiday among the orange and lemon trees. The house is extremely clean and well stocked. We had so much fun playing badminton, using the pool, exploring the grounds, and relaxing in the sunshine. Oliver's suggestions for local hikes are spot on - we hiked each day of our stay. The walk to town is safe and feasible during the day - after our first night we used our car for trips at night. We can't wait to return!

the house is great, the gardens and terraces even better and the welcome very friendly. We were lucky, the weather was really nice and we could enjoy the procession and festivities in Orgiva. Oliver and Anna are super hosts

We fell in love with this property on our first night! Oliver and Maria were very helpful during the booking process nd made sure everything was ready and easy for us even though we arrived very late. The property is clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and the views absolutely took our breath away when we arrived in the morning. (Note: you definitely need a car!) There was so much beautiful outdoor space to relax in including the refreshing pool area. We ate outside every day and enjoyed exploring the property. It's perfectly situated for excursions in the mountains and the coast, and Orgiva is very close with everything you need for groceries or meals. Thank you Oliver and Maria, we will be back to stay at this very special property!

A fantastic, traditional Spanish house with extensive garden and gorgeous pool - perfect for our family holiday. Set in rural surroundings with stunning mountain views. All mod-cons in the house were included making for a really comfortable stay. Nearby Orgiva is a small, quiet town, but well equipped with supermarkets and a handful of small cafe/bars. We loved visiting various beaches - easily accessible by car (approx 30-40 mins drive). Really great communication throughout our stay from Oliver the host to make our stay go smoothly.

It is a truly pleasant accommodation and perfect for a family stay. We had a really good time with our 2 children during the 3 weeks. We were able to easily discover the Andalusia region as Orgiva is quite close to Grenade/Seville/Malaga... The owners are very friendly and gave us really good advice for visiting and dining out. The only negative point is the partition of the house, I think another system should be found to reinforce it, as our dog fell from the wall and couldn't climb back up on its own afterwards.

Last year my husband and I, so desperate to get away after a few years of staying in the UK due to covid/lockdowns booked an all inclusive week holiday in Turkey. Never again!
This year we have had the opposite holiday from that. Oliver and Maria’s holiday property is gorgeous. It’s so peaceful and quiet. We made fresh lemonade from the lemon trees on the property, saw Eagles flying around, swam in the private pool. It was bliss. It’s also easy to drive to the coast which we did a couple of times as well as going to Granada on a couple of days ( one day to the Alhambra and the other day to visit the rest of the city). Oliver and María were really helpful and friendly and we would definitely visit again. Wonderful holiday. Would recommend!

If you’re looking for a serene, relaxing holiday in the mountains with incredible hiking and a town close by, then look no further. We just spent a week here in the winter, during our wedding anniversary and although we were not able to utilize the pool, I’m sure in the summer it would be a perfect addition. The property is built into the side of the mountain with a wonderful cave bedroom, that is very energetic and relaxing. The sounds of birds and the views of the Alpujarra mountains from the terrace are so peaceful. Surrounded by olive, orange and lemon trees, I made fresh squeezed orange juice every morning. Oliver was extremely easy to deal with , fast to respond, very pleasant and took care of any needs we had and was a very useful resource for exploring and questions. The kitchen was also stocked with basic items and enough for our first meal there along with wonderful wine and olive oil. We look forward to returning, perhaps in spring or summer, although the the house was well heated with two heaters on each side of the house, and it was nice to make a cozy fire in the evenings. We look forward to returning one day.

The house, surroundings, and amazing bounty of life on this beautiful property amazed me every day! The house is comfortable and well-equipped for short or extended stays, and its regional styling includes excellent touches such as solid and secure construction throughout, high quality windows and doors, and ease of temperature control. In addition, the cave room provides peaceful sanctuary for restful sleep.
The out-of-doors features of the house are even better, with a rich garden and many spaces to relax, a well-maintained swimming pool and private area with a fence, and abundant life everywhere.
The hosts are friendly, helpful, and responsive, and very knowledgeable of the amazing Alpujarra area, including the nearby village of Órgiva. If you love the outdoors and want to experience an amazing area in southern Spain that combines the tropics, mountains, and sea, I definitely recommend this home for your stay!

Property and location were great. Short drive to Orgiva with all you need. Beautiful views and great weather. Granada and beach easily accessible too. I'd definitely recommend this place..

Perfect
We had been planning this trip since 2019 and covid got in the way and kept making us push it back. They were very responsive to every message I sent. We arrived there and the house was close enough to get to many different parts of the area. 45 mins to Granada, 30 mins to the beach, 15 mins to the mountains. There were lemon, lime, and loquat trees all over the property that we could help ourselves to. The house had all the amenities and then some. When we travel to the area again we will definitely book here again!

Orgiva getaway
We were able to fully relax, with all amenities to hand in a beautiful setting. We really appreciated the extra care and quality provided by the owners.

My new husband and I spent 5 nights of our honeymoon in Spain at Cotijo el Cura. We loved the privacy and the gorgeous views of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The house is quaint and cosy and we slept well in the "cave" room. We also enjoyed making dinner with local market meat and produce. The town of Orgiva is quite charming. It is close by and has several wonderful restaurants.
This was our base for exploring the mountain towns for hiking and also the beaches of the Costa del Sol which are an easy 1/2 hour drive away and simply gorgeous.
We would be very happy to come back again!

Very Relaxing Holiday
The holiday Home certainly has charm and character, with an abundance of grapes right for picking, just a pity the oranges and lemons were not ripe yet! Oliver and Maria were wonderful and ironed out any minor problems quickly. We would love to stay again.

A great week in the Alpujarras
A really well equipped and lovely villa with beautiful gardens, pool and sun terraces. The perfect place for my wife and I to spend a week relaxing and exploring the local area - which offered excellent food and drink. Ideally located to visit the mountains, beach and Granada. A special mention for Oliver and Maria who were great hosts, they obviously take great pride in their property and were very welcoming and helpful both before and on our arrival.

Relaxing in beautiful surroundings
A cave house set in a beautiful garden with many citrus and ancient olive trees. Very quiet and private. Usually the only sound was birdsong. Everything was clean. The kitchen and bathroom were clean and well appointed. The double bed was comfortable and we slept well. Conveniently close to town, shops etc. Oliver was very helpful.

Comfortable house in a lovely area
We had a lovely holiday with our two young children. The house is very sweet and we spent most of our time on the terrace.
The walk to Orgiva is pretty and the garden gave us plenty of space to play.
The house was comfortable and the children especially liked the cave bedroom.
We have rated 3 stars as we found that although the house was comfortable, it was not as luxurious as we had expected from the description. We found that the charge for the very sparse snacks provided on arrival was expensive, and that the extra fee demanded for cleaning on top of the hire fee was very expensive. The parasol on the terrace was broken. The kitchen essentials were limited. There were a few toys provided but these were incomplete or very old. The bath is half size. This is all fine but I think should be reflected in the description. I feel that with a few tweaks to these kind of details it would be a lovely place to stay.

Lovely cottage in great location
We travled to Spain - Madrid, Grenada, Malaga - during December. Our stay in this Orgiva cottage, 45 minutes from Grenada, was the best part of our trip.
The cottage is charming, cozy, and situated on a lovely terraced property filled with citrus trees. It is very clean and adequately appointed.
Orgiva is very close and a pleasant town. The coast is less than an hour away and Grenada is similarly proximate. We enjoyed driving up into the mountains to visit the precipitously perched villages nearby. I think we would have taken advantage of recreation such as horseback riding if we’d had more time. But, honestly, what I most enjoyed was being able to read by fire or on the terrace while my children happily played on the lawns!
Oliver and Maria are thoughtful and accessible hosts, very dedicated to making their guests feel at home and absolutely comfortable yet unobtrusive.
This is an ideal VRBO.

Lovely setting. Well equipped. Beautiful garden.
Spotlessly clean. Well equipped. Lovely pool and gardens. Shady veranda for meals. Great location for exploring the mountains , visiting Granada but also not too far from the coast.

Gorgeous property
What a lovely time we had. Exploring the mountain villages, walking. Watching the wildlife with the bats and a resident eagle an ever present visitor.
Thank you Oliver for making us welcome with supplies on our arrival which made us very much at home. The property is well laid out and very good for lazy relaxing in the pool. We picked oranges and lemons on the trees and had squeezed oranges and lemons every day which was a real treat. Granada is only 50 kms away and an easy day trip.
A very much enjoyed holiday and a good introduction to the Sierra Nevada

Fantastic cottage in a stunning location!
We had a brilliant holiday exploring the local area and enjoying the lovely private pool. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The garden is great with loads of space for the children to play and beautiful fruit trees. We even made lemonade. Our children (aged 10 and 7) absolutely loved the swimming pool. It was particularly good as it has a shallow area on the side which was great for our daughter as she could splash about without having to swim all the time. The village of Orgiva is great for general amenities and we had fun exploring some of the very picturesque villages higher up the mountains. It is a great location for running. I was able to run from the house every morning and would love to return and explore more. Overall a fantastic holiday.

Overall great property. Great location with amazing views of the mountains.
Fabulous months stay. Great town with all amenities. Our favourite bar was the one by the bridge called Venita el Puente. The locals were all very friendly. Only a small negative was that we needed a second set of bed linen and towels for each room as unable to wash and dry in the same day. Oliver the owner was very accommodating and we hope we didn’t eat too many oranges and lemons from the many trees. Thanks Kay, Gary, Lynn, Colin and Hector.

A perfect holiday hideaway
What can I say...the secluded and enticing pool, the beautiful garden with orange, lemon and fig trees, the mountain views and the well stocked and very authentic villa.
We (family of 4, 2 kids aged 12 and 10) had a fab time. We explored the local area; the beautiful hilltop villages of Capiliera and Bubion, the stunning city of Granada and the amazing Alhambra palace and the many breath taking walks in the Sierra Nevada and Alpajurras (where often we didn't see anyone else). Hard to imagine that 40 minutes in the other direction are the many popular beaches.
This villa would be a great stay any time of year as the landscapes around are forever changing but always beautiful (would be nice to see the mountains covered in snow). I am sure we will be back!

The property is fantastic property well secluded.
The overall impression is absolutely very good. We have now stayed at 5 different properties in Orgiva, and the last three of them have all been with Oliver. The reason for this is simple, everything work out seamless. Oliver has several properties that can be hired, all of them are absolutely favourable, but for different needs and purposes. All are completely equipped and you are well taken care of from the point you are entering Orgiva.
Whenever coming back, we will not look for anything else.
Well done Oliver !

Beautiful, quiet, relaxing....a slow pace not offered in the cities.
We arrived a little early in the tourist season, we would love to visit again later in the summer when the vines are grown in, all the trees are at their fullest and the pool is just a couple degrees warmer. Our stay here closed off family vacation and we're glad we had several days of quiet in the cottage before returning to our own busy city life.
The home is close to Orgiva (plenty of supermarkets and ATMs) walking distance to several restaurants and a great place to base if you're interested in getting into Granada or the white villages higher in the mountains.
Very fond memories.

We loved this house
We arranged a meeting with the owner in town and he guided us to our villa. Oliver is a pleasant and helpful person. Our house was comfortable, clean and well organised. The villa was rather close to Orgiva. It took a 25 minutes walk to Orgiva and 20 minutes to walk back. Walking back in the dark is not very pleasant because there are no lights along the street to the villa.
The garden was big and very nice. Unfortunately the water of the swimming pool was too cold (end of March) to swim..

Amazing holiday in a beautiful area!
Our stay at this cottage was absolutely amazing, better than we could have expected. The cottage and the garden surrounding it are beautiful, perfect for the amazing views, to enjoy the sun at the pool or on the terrace. The cottage has everything you could wish for and all of high quality. Orgiva is a nice town with supermarkets, restaurants.. the Alpujarra is just precious. We definitely want to come back to discover the area some more!

A paradise? El Cura is just that.
Oliver has thought of just about everything.
The house and gardens have that quintessential Spanish rustic charm, with 21st century mod-cons to make life even easier.
Oliver is a perfect host, easy to contact & quick to solve any issues.
Yes we have already recommended El Cura to friends.

If you are looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful this is the perfect spot: tucked away, with glorious views of the hills. Although there are neighbours you can scarcely see them. The greatest noise comes from the birds. The house is well equipped and the owner is very helpful. Orgiva is a 15 minutes walk up a gentle footpath, or a 5 minute drive, but there is a super bar at the campsite 2 minutes walk down the road, and an excellent , if rustic, restaurant 5 minutes away. The welcome pack provided by the owner was perfect, so when we arrived mid Sunday afternoon, with all the shops shut there was plenty for the 6 of us to eat. We all really enjoyed our stay, lots of walking, swimming and sitting outside enjoying the warmth and the house wine. We filled the house to bursting ( there are 2 bedrooms, and then a sofa bed in the living room), but it worked very well for us as the garden is beautiful, and there is plenty of space to sit outside. We would all recommend it, a super few days away.

My husband and I left Canada for a month long vacation and selected Cortijo del Campo as a place where we could rest, travel around the villages, enjoy the local fare, be involved in true Spanish culture and be minutes away from town. This lovely home and location provided it all. We truly enjoyed sitting on the deck enjoying the scenery, listening to the birds, eating oranges and clementines right from the trees in the back yard. Many mornings we collected a dozen or so oranges and squeezed fresh orange juice. The home was well equipped, clean, the beds were very comfortable and even though it was chilly at night we had plenty heat to keep us comfortable. While we did have neighbours, they were a distance away and we were never bothered by noise. Oliver Baun, was always available to answer questions and make recommendations. He left a manual with easy to read instructions, restaurant recommendations, venues, maps, walking trails. We could be as busy or as lazy as we wanted. You are in the mountains though and because of my lack of research, I was not at first prepared for the mountain roads. I did however soon learn that the roads were well maintained and led to astonishing villages through landscapes, beautiful beyond description. I would recommend this rental to my friends and anyone who may ask.
