The breakfast is great!
The hot and cold water pipes are separate,so it's not very convenient for me.

Beautiful old building. Stairs, corridors- kept getting lost. But that really adds to the charm

Lovely quaint old inn, lots of character, excellent rooms, very helpful staff, easy to find, car park, good food, garden
Steep curved staircase - difficult with a bad hip!

Nice food, breakfast very good, friendly staff.
If I’m picky, room was a bit warm, but we stayed through a couple of hot July nights, so can’t be helped.

Staff were very polite and helpful. The room was beautiful, perfectly decorated with fantastic facilities. The bed was extremely comfy and the bath was wonderful.
Despite being on a main road, the room was really quiet and we weren't disturbed by road noise at all.
Nothing.

Lovely old Inn, in glorious setting.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Lovely breakfast.
Very good value. A very positive experience.
Only slight comment would be windows/frames needed a deep clean, otherwise room was lovely and clean.

very friendly staff, very accommodating
lovely location, lovely old pub. One of our rooms was a beautiful large characterful double the other was a twin, well equipped and the beds were very comfortable but it was a bit small… but it’s an old pub.. it goes with territory!

Nice, warm and clean room, the shower was nice and big and the water flow was great (I say this because in many places I have been the shoer is electric so hot, then cold, then hot again, and bad flow)
Quiet place, perfect for a good rest
The mattress could have been more confy

A difficult place to review, as its a bit like the curates egg (good in parts), which is probably a little unfair as it was actually good in many areas. On arrival, from outside the premises looked a little unkept, but the interior belied the first impressions, being nicely decorated and laid out, with a roaring woodfire adding to the ambience. The bedroom was quirky with sloping floors (not a criticism, just an observation) although the decor needed tidying up in the window bay. The bed was comfy and the bathroom nicely appointed with lashings of hot water. The service was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful, as was the landlord. The evening meals were well cooked and tasty and reasonably priced and the beer was good. Its a good location for a number of National Trust properties (Batemans, Scotney Castle, Smallhythe and others, as well as the heritage railway at Tenterden. NB if you want the room made over, please put the hanger outside the door or advise the staff

A great place for a couple of nights. The host was incredibly friendly and helpful with information about the surrounding area. A lovely quiet spot in beautiful historical surroundings. A lovely old characterful pub with open fire and low beams.
Don't arrive late! The pub closes at 10pm and all doors are locked. We had to knock loudly on a back door and another disgruntled visitor had to let us in as we couldn't get hold of anyone.

Proper country pub with lovely rooms, good beer, great welcome, and wholesome grub

with a fab real fire.

Marvelois inn on the countryside. Brilliant pub part and appreciated restaurant. They have a vegan English breakfast (!) and a very tasty vegetable risotto. I fully recommend and would absolutely book again.

The quaintness of the pub was lovely, people friendly and food was excellent.
The bed was on a slant as was the floor in the bedroom - so sleeping wasn't particularly comfortable as you rolled to one side of the bed quite dramatically.

Friendly ambience - excellent food
Room was cold upon arrival

Although situated near a busy road, our room was towards the rear of the building and not badly affected by external noise. Staff were welcoming and the public bar ambience was relaxed with a roaring log fire at one end. Breakfast was very good in both quality and choice.
Our room was small, although adequate for a one-night stay. Shower floor was slippery and there was no shower mat. Water was barely lukewarm. Biggest problem was a humming noise which kept us awake for much of the night. None of the staff asked if we had enjoyed our stay.
