Great location!! Room is above a lovely relaxing cafe serving great coffee and food. The balcony faces the beach and water, so nice you can hang out all day. Location is near a great private beach, Snorkeling, and plenty of restaurants. Try the great fruit smoothie's from the lady a few stores down. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and updated. We would definitely recommend and would have loved to stay here longer.
Nothing, everything was great.

stunning location, bedroom + balcony overlooking the ocean. Lovely hosts and friendly local people nearby. beautiful beach on your front door. DELICIOUS food. FIVE STARS
I had to leave. wanted to stay longer

The view from the room is just magical Darren and Alice are just the best hosts. They hooked me up with all the fun stuff happening on the island. The cheese toasties are just amazing and the selection of food available is just great.
Nothing really I just had such a great time there I could not fault it.

The room was small but beautiful with an amazing view over the bay. The fan worked well during electricity hours. The area is small and so was in a good location for exploring. The beach was cleaner than expected too. M'Pai Bay has a wonderful feel despite clearly suffering badly from the effect of Covid with a wonderful community feel. We could easily have stayed much longer and in some ways are pleased to have experienced it without the hoards of back packers.
Although the room was lovely and clean, the entrance common room downstairs was not to the same standard. Understandably due to lack of tourists, some facilities were not available such as food and WiFi. It would have been good to have known this in advance (particularly the WiFi as may have considered booking elsewhere).

Great host - the owners are still away due to Covid so a guy and his family are caring for the place. He was very helpful, spoke excellent English, and was just generally a good guy.
The seafront room was delightful - quite small but with a large bed (good to space out when it's hot!) and good storage space with loads of hangers and clothesline on the balcony to dry clothes. Lovely traditional wooden decoration. A peaceful place to sleep. I recommend having a torch/phone light when the electricity is off for the bathroom.
Great view on the seafront and fishing boats and a hop, skip, and a jump to the sea! The village is small so the room is an easy walk to shops, bars or places to eat (though not many have reopened yet after Covid) and the rustic trailer sellers at the top of the central street.
We took a hike to a quieter beach further around the coast - just over an hour total around the beach and through the coastal jungle path if you want to explore a bit without getting a boat trip somewhere.
Kitchen wasn't serving but they said we could use it to cook if we wanted.
2 unfortunate things for me but might be fine for others:
No WiFi, and we had filtered our search specifically for free WiFi as we had lots to sort out, so we would have stayed longer otherwise and made for a bit of a stressful time. Unsure if this was an issue with the listing on Booking, or a fault since Covid reopening as there was WiFi in a couple of other locations in the village.
Aircon - we paid the extra $10pn for AC. The 1st night there was an electrical issue so we couldn't use it properly then. We knew the electricity is shut off in the day but didn't know the early hours of the morning too (or atleast someone told us afterwards) but our other 2 nights I woke up so hot and went to turn the AC on and it wouldn't work. $10pn is a lot to not be able to use it at the times when you're most likely to be in the room and if I'd known about the minimal hours through the night I wouldn't have bothered.
Like other places we've stayed they are not serving food at the moment as listed. There are some places in the village nearby serving delicious meals so don't let that put you off.
There might be some random losses or power/water - part of island life I imagine!?
It didn't bother us but for future travellers there seemed to be the odd abandoned buildings and lots of vacant bars at the moment, and places seem to decide to open on an ad-hoc basis. There's also bits of litter on the beaches but it sounds like an effort is being made to tidy that regularly.

The location was great and beautiful! The staff was very nice and kind. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

A true slice of paradise, right on the beach!
Nicely done out with subtle touches that make all the difference, and balcony views to make everyone back home jealous:)
Darren and Alice were away at present due to Covid's ongoing problems, but the upside is that you get taken care of by a beautiful indigenous family from the island, taking care of your every whim.
If you're looking for a place in M-Pai bay it doesn't get better than this.

The location is basically perfect. I looked out on the beach, which was directly below my balcony. It literally could not have been any closer. It's a great place to sit and look out at the sea. The room was pretty good and the guy temporarily running the place (Bunthen) was really friendly and helpful.
The fan in the room didn't work and the lock on the door and sliding door to the balcony both didn't work.

Very friendly and hospitable host, really tries to make you feel welcome. Good location. Convenient stuff nearby. Good working AC's. Reasonably comfortable beds. Reasonably quiet compared to surrounding locations. Good areas for hanging out, good balcony on the room. Enough place to hang up clothes. Cute decorations, vibe/atmosphere. Hot water actually works, actually comes out hot! If I came back to this beach, I would return to this place.
No wifi but phone internet had good reception so it was okay.

Alice and Darren are amazing hosts! It was a pleasure stay with them in that paradise island! I will miss everything
All perfect if you are a backpackers and your are not looking for luxury service but just a bed and good vibes on an island

Alice and Darren are great hosts and made our stay feel like home away from home. They know all the village and were super friendly and helpful on tips round the island and beyond in Cambodia .
We stayed about 12 nights and they made us feel a part of the community ! The quirks on being a guest in their new Homestay was part of the experience . We loved their sense of decor in the little details such as ambient lighting and bamboo covered electricity channels., and the nice toiletries .
Nothing - it was great ! We would stay again

Alice and Darren were fab . no complaint . Anything worth improving had more to do with island construction development and their learnings on running a fairly new boutique “hotel”

. I wish I could put 10/10 for the owner - the great host. He was very helpful and friendly. Also they make delicious toasties. The location is great. Highly recommend
I don't know, dusty fan.
Sometimes wifi connection was poor.
No hot water, but it's common for the island
