Rake n Scrape is a quaint bungalow on the beautiful two mile long beach of Spanish Wells. Evoking the feel of an old beach cottage but with modern amenities like air conditioning, TV and wifi. Enjoy your morning coffee or happy hour on your private deck overlooking the water, listening to the sound of the waves washing on the shore. You won't want to leave!
Many guests say they enjoy the enclosed outdoor shower so much they even used either of the indoor showers! The water is so clear with a soft, white sandy bottom that is perfect for swimming or using the included kayaks and paddle boards. In the heart of the quaint lobster fishing town of Spanish Wells, food and liquor stores are very walkable, but we recommend renting a buggy (golf cart) to explore the island and adjoining Russell Island. Lounge chairs, kayaks and paddle boards are included.

This place was a dream!! It was truly amazing. The location was perfect! I absolutely loved how we could step out our back door and be directly in the sand! The little back deck with the palm trees over it was perfect. The exact location on the beach was awesome. We enjoyed the sandbar, the kayaks, the paddleboard, the outdoor shower, everything was great! the pictures are completely accurate about everything. It is not big or fancy, but it is a perfect little Bohemian cottage and it was exactly what we needed. We did not come to the Bahamas to be indoors, but when we were, we were comfortable. We came to the Bahamas to enjoy the beauty of the beach and the water and we did exactly that this week! All the communication was perfect and we had a dream of a trip. Thank you so much!

We travel with another couple for our Caribbean vacation every other year. This year was our fifth year exploring new places in the Bahamas. We all agreed, Spanish Wells and the Rake and Scrape was our favorite place so far. Everything about the place is wonderful, beautiful beach and sandbar, comfortable lodging, convenience, super kind and friendly host- Vince you are great, and thanks to Lori too for all her help with organizing the details. We loved the ocean breeze which keeps things cool and pleasant, so no need for air conditioning during our stay. The only recommendation would be more screens on the windows especially in the back bedroom, for circulation. The island culture is welcoming with good food and friendly people.
The golf carts are a fun way to get around the island.. We will definitely be coming back for another stay.

This cottage is absolutely perfect - decorated to feel beachy and fun and has all the essentials. The beach is literally in the front yard, and a sand bar provides the perfect protected beach. We walked the mile loop on the sand bar every day at low tide and at high tide. Vince is a terrific host and treated us to fresh coconuts from the property. The house is a short walk (or golf cart ride) from the islands restaurants and groceries. It's an ideal low-key beach vacation. We will definitely be back!

I can’t say enough great things about our stay! The owners and caretakers were amazing! They communicated with us from the minute we inquired about the property all the way through check out. They gave great recommendations of where to book golf carts, places to eat and things to do. They even helped coordinate our arrival with a taxi and ferry to and from the island, and when our flight home got cancelled they went above and beyond to accommodate us another night. We LOVED the house, the location and Spanish Wells. A little piece of me is still there and we will be coming back again!

This was my second time staying at this property- and it truly is amazing. Gorgeous views and just foot steps to the sand. This trip was my husband, 3 kids and myself- and the cottage was perfect. I can’t wait to return to SW, and this property.

We loved Rake n Scrape! Like others have mentioned, the house is not large, but it is thoughtfully laid out and very clean (bedding, towels, great mattresses, etc). We loved the reclaimed ship teak kitchen counter top and the old wood shutters. The location of the house is great - close to everything in town and yet beachfront. The water in front of the house is shallow and the sandbar (also directly in front of the house) was perfect for our 3 year old to walk with us and explore. On a very minor clarifier, the VRBO listing mentioned “cable tv / basic cable” which we assumed would be Cable Bahamas like we have had at other houses in Spanish Wells, but it was just a web enabled Visio tv with apps. We wanted to watch college football bowl games but had a hard time bc streaming apps wouldn’t let us watch network tv (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC due to Bahamas location / VPN didn’t solve it either). Overall, this was one of the best houses / vacations we have ever had! We will definitely return to this house again!!

Our family of four enjoyed every minute of our time at Rake N Scrape. Vince was great. The views were great. The island was incredible. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the chairs on the back deck. I hope we make it back soon and will stay in this spot again.

We absolutely loved our time at Rake n Scrape! The location is amazing, right on the most beautiful beach in Spanish Wells. And the liquor store is right across the street! The house had everything we needed during our stay. The kayaks were such a great bonus for us. I loved watching the sunrise on the deck while drinking my morning coffee. Lori was very easy to work with, and even helped arrange the airport and water taxi. Spanish Wells is a very laid back vacation spot and we hope to visit again and definitely stay at the Rake n Scrape!

Lori and Vince are the most wonderful hosts. Lori took care of all arrangements for transport to/from the airport as well as helping us with a golf cart rental on the island. The property was perfect for 2 couples. It has a nautical theme and is very comfortable. Lori and Vince made sure we knew how to get around, find stores and restaurants. Our stay at the beach and on the island was really good. We had personal attention and help when we needed it and felt very welcome.

Rake and Scrape was great! Perfect location! We had everything we needed. My husband and I had a wonderful time…relaxing, fun. Loved the kayaks!! Went out to Pier Rock one day! Beautiful!!

Loved Budda’s. Great burgers. The Shipyard had an amazing cheese dip- went back a couple times for that! Found a great local coffee shop too!
Lori and Vince were great! They had our shuttle and ferry set up and met us at the dock with our buggy! They were responsive to our texts and calls! They came by the morning we were leaving and got us back got to the dock! Thanks for a relaxing get away!

This is the second time that I’ve rented this beach house. It’s perfect for a couple or a small family. The view can’t be beat. The property managers are incredibly helpful and kind.

The property was exactly as shown. Very quick responses from the property managers with any concerns and they also arranged travel to/from the airport and reserved our golf cart. Very helpful! Beach access when the tide is right and access to walking the sandbar was a highlight for us!

The owners were a pleasure to work with. They arranged water taxis and cabs to and from Airport. Picked us up and took us back to the dock.
The location of this beach bungalow is absolutely perfect! Only about 8 or 9 steps from the back door to the sandy beach. (And only a Block from the liquor store) Lol!
The house is decorated very nicely. My only complaint was the queen bedroom was 3 steps down from the kitchen and had to go up those steps, through the kitchen and through the living room to get to the bathroom. As an older couple this was not ideal during the night. But our overall experience was wonderful.

The property conveys the feeling of true every day island life in Spanish Wells. Rustic but comfortable. There's not a lot to do here so it's easy to set aside your busy life while here and just relax and do nothing...and feel ok about it.
Now, the view...OMG! The water can not be more perfectly clear for as far as you can see. The sand bar is amazing for strolling. Easy kayaking is a must. The breeze is always just right so you're never too hot. We came Sept 1 which is the beginning of a slower season we're told. Nothing is crowded. Locals are all so friendly and helpful too. Everything about our stay was perfect. We will come back here again.

We absolutely love coming to the Rake n’ Scrape, this was our second time and it didn’t disappoint! Such a charming house right on an absolutely stunning beach with everything we need, and Vince and Lori are wonderful hosts that made us feel completely comfortable. We can’t wait to come back!!!

Absolutely wonderful!
Rake and Scrape was the perfect stay for our family! The beach is breathtaking. My kids enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling when the tide went out every day! We all enjoyed looking for shells and treasures. We saw so many starfish, conch shells, and a stingray two of the days. The house was perfect for our family of 4. Everything we needed! And Lori and Vince were amazing, I can’t thank them enough. It’s nice knowing there is someone there for you if you have questions. We will definitely be back again!
