Shell House has 4 bedrooms (3 with Q, 1 with 2Twins) and 2 full baths, along with an outdoor shower. Open and comfortable with a fully appointed kitchen (including cutlery, cookware, dinnerware, dishwasher, coffee pot, microwave, full size stove and refrigerator/freezer), Cable TV (2), wireless internet, CD player, DVD player, ceiling fans (indoors & out), a screened front porch, covered back porch, roof deck, washer/dryer and gas grill. Recently painted and updated indoors and out, it has all you need for a great vacation at the beach. Departure housekeeping is included for weekly rentals. Very disappointed. We were here the late part of April. Home is in a wonderful location but was a complete mess. The return registers filter was caked up like a sweater. House had a wet smell. Floors were dirty and sticky. I had to drive 35 minutes each way to Walmart to get a filter and I replaced it. We vacuumed all the floors. Under beds were disgusting. I also Swiffer wet jetted all the floors. There was a pill in the floor of the room one of our babies were in. I had to Lysol everything. Dishes in dishwasher were left dirty and food still on them and food in the bottom of the dishwasher also. The bathroom floors were disgusting. He also has a sign at the thermostat that says it can't be set below 75 in summer and 55 is the highest in the winter. I have never seen anything like this. Steps going up to roof deck are cracked on the main support and unstable. His sign downstairs says he's retired and he's not fixing anything. Apparently he means it. We left the home in way better shape than we found it. I was hoping he would have gotten back to me by now, but I guess not. If I were to go to Sunset Beach again, I would go with there on island property management agency. Apparently the owner and VRBO don't care about there guests its been over a month.

The communication with owner was fabulous and very fast replies. The location is perfect to get to the sunset beach and the bird sanctuary. The screened in porch was fantastic. Sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. The kitchen is well-stocked and made cooking easy for our family. Our only complaint was the beds and furniture were well worn. Still usable, but not good for older folks.

This house has the classic older "Sunset Beach layout" (my family has been vacationing here for decades), with a central living room & dining/kitchen space and then two bedrooms off to each side with a bathroom in between. Nothing fancy at all but comfortable and cute! The location is amazing, just a quick walk to the beach -- and the porch is definitely a highlight of the property. Cleaning could've been a bit better as we found hairs throughout both bathrooms in the showers and sinks, but this wasn't a huge deal -- we just wiped the areas down. Overall great value, would stay again.

It was a week of excitement and firsts for the kids. Even my grown children acted like kids. House was awesome, good location to beach, clean and exactly size we needed for our family. Bill was awesome at answering anything I asked. Definitely want to plan another family vacation to Shell House

I cannot begin to tell you the amount of peace I had staying at the Shell House. It was SO HARD for me to leave! Just a short walk to the beach - which was incredibly clean, the sand soft as silk, beach wasn't crowded, waves were not too rough, but not too calm. Just right! The boardwalk to the beach was in great shape. Neighborhood was pretty quiet other than the garbage trucks in the morning. 4 rooms with 2 bathrooms which was sufficient for the 7 of us. We were able to watch our favorite shows on the TV as were able to access Amazon. The kitchen has a PANTRY! Normally when we rent homes for vacations, we always have problems finding room for our food - not this time! All appliances worked well. The house was clean except for some sand leftover from the renters before us. There's an outdoor shower and hose to rinse off after being at the beach. Porches on both sides of the house - AND MY FAVORITE - a crow's nest!! I spent so much time up there - you can see and hear the ocean. It was heavenly. I'm so hoping I can go back again next year. If it were up to me, I'd be there at least 4 times a year! Thank you from the bottom of my heart Bill - it was truly the most peaceful vacation I've ever had. I love the ocean and I love the Shell House.

Shell House was absolutely perfect for our family. The location is perfect-- just a short walk to the beach that was no problem even for toddlers overburdened with sand toys. The home itself is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully supplied with so many things that made our stay easy and fun. The kitchen had all the tools we needed to cook, and there were bikes, boogie boards and beach accessories under the house. Access to Netflix and Disney + in rooms gave us a way to keep the kiddos entertained and get some downtime for ourselves when needed. The host, Bill, was just incredible and very responsive and accommodating. The house is comfy and welcoming for little ones, and laid out well for a family. We were so thankful for the excellent pricing as well! This was our first stay at Shell House, but we loved it so much that we booked our next year's stay while we were still there-- we can hardly wait for vacation 2024 at Shell House! Thank you, Bill, for providing this wonderful place for our family to get away from it all!

We loved our stay at this bungalow just a short walk to the beach. House is clean and had all the usual comforts of a traditional beach house. Nice perks included that we had use of some free old bikes on the property. Appliances and furniture aren’t anything fancy but everything works and we felt at home. We would definitely stay here again

The house was perfect for our family of 6 (2 adults, 4 teens). The kitchen was well equipped and everything was very clean upon our arrival. Just a short little walk to the beach - house is located in a great spot on the beach. We all enjoyed watching nightly sunsets from the roof and sitting on the front porch in the mornings drinking coffee. Wonderful week at a great property!

In general, we enjoyed our stay at the Shell House, which is well equipped and conveniently located. We were very disappointed to arrive at a dirty house, considering that we were charged an expensive cleaning fee. We spent hours cleaning the house when we arrived. The kitchen counters were dirty; the dishwasher was dirty and contained dirty dishes; the trash cans in all the bathrooms and the kitchen had garbage; there were used coffee grounds in the coffee pot; the refrigerator had partly consumed food and leftovers from previous renters; there was hair and tooth paste residues in the bathroom washbasin; the bed protector of the master bed was torn and the mattress was stained. We worked hard before we left to leave the place as clean as possible for the next guests, because we always endeavor to be good guests and treat each rental as our home, but I believe renting a place that was dirty throughout is unfair, unpleasant, and unsanitary to say the least.

House was in perfect location. Weather is as cold, but that’s nothing that can be controlled. :) Plenty of beds. Bathrooms are small but workable. Bring your own sheets. One small thing I’d possibly recommend is WD-40 for bike chains. Glad they were available but one tough to ride. Super quiet area. Ate at Sarah’s for breakfast and Becks in Calabash. And all the people around are very friendly.

My family & I spent an entire week at Shell House and we can’t wait to come back! There is space for everyone. I gave the grownups the front bedrooms with access to the screened in porch while the kids had the back two bedrooms. The bedrooms are situated in each of the 4 corners of the house while the kitchen/dining & living rooms fill the center. Jack and Jill bathrooms adjoin each pair of sleeping quarters. Ample room for all - plus the underside of the house with a wooden swing & patio furniture. The bikes, beach toys & boogie boards didn’t go unused either! But don’t forget the rooftop deck to watch the sun rise with coffee and your favorite person! Cooking was a breeze with everything you could possibly need already stocked - including the spice cabinet. Thank you for letting us love your beach home Bill!!!
